Beautiful Log Home in Hill City, South Dakota

Welcome to our home away from home, The Markque. This beautiful, homey cabin, located in picturesque Hill City, South Dakota, is sure to be just what you are looking for, from the open floor plan to its convenient location right in the middle of all things Black Hills!

Enjoy your morning coffee on the front patio while watching the visiting wildlife, including deer nearly every day. Hike, bike, or run on the Mickelson Trail and relax in the evenings on our patio, in the hot tub, watching the sun set. There is a herd of Elk that have been known to visit within one block!

If you're in the area for adventure, this cabin is right by Deerfield Road, which will take you to miles and miles of Forest Service roads, ATV/UTV/snowmobile specific trails, Deerfield Lake for fishing, and hiking in the Black Hills National Forest.

Unwinding at the Markque is easy with a whole home stereo system with blue tooth access. In 2021, we added to the kitchen a brand new fridge, stove/oven, microwave and dishwasher. Many items have also been replaced in 2021 including living room furniture, gas grill, towels, bed sheets, pillows, dishes, pots and pans, and griddle. We've added a Keurig, an Instant Pot, a waffle maker and a brand new Pit Boss smoker on the patio (we provide the pellets)! The hot tub is brand new in June 2023. This is the perfect home for your vacation!

Located in a beautiful tree surrounded neighborhood with views of the national forest and access to the Mickelson Trail with ZERO GRAVEL to the home.

We feature special winter, spring and fall rates! You can also find us on Facebook - @TheMarkque - we look forward to your stay with us.

Please note: our parking availability is as follows - there is no off-street parking in this neighborhood. All cars, trucks, trailers and ATV's need to be parked in the garage or driveway. No RV's or campers are allowed to be parked in this neighborhood at any time. There is a total of 5 parking spaces for our home (one in the garage and four in front of the garage). ATV/UTV’s should never be driven across or parked on the lawn. No washing vehicles of any kind on the property.

Quick weekend getaway

Very pleased with the communication with host. This is our second time at this cabin. We love the convenient location in Hill City and things to do in Rapid is only 20 mins away. Great place for kids as well. Will be coming back.

Great Black Hills Stay in Hill City

This house was the perfect landing spot for us on our Black Hills adventure! Spacious, very clean and well equipped house with everything we needed! The location was perfect to all of the attractions. Communication with the hosts was great as well! Highly recommend and we would love to stay here again.

This beautiful log cabin home was the perfect setting for our girls weekend! Nice quiet neighborhood, close to Mickelson trail for walking/running and conveniently situated for ease of travel to other sites. House and hot tub were immaculate.

The house is in the perfect place to see all that South Dakota has to offer. Hill City is a charming little town and the Markque is a charming home with all the amenities. We had a wonderful time!!

We loved this house. We cooked several meals and the kitchen, grill and smoker were excellent. Beds were very comfortable, in a very nice neighborhood great room was “great”! The kitchen needs a brush for washing dishes or just for rinsing before dishwasher! Wonderful location for all the sites and we rode our RZR to trails with no problem! Thank you to our host!

Made for a fantastic family vacation.

Having 2 kids who get enjoyment out of pestering each other, it was so great to have a place to come back to every day after doing tourist activities that allowed everyone to have their space. So much better than a hotel! You are in a rural location so wildlife visited almost everyday but we were still right there by Main Street so shops, restaurants, fuel, and the grocery store are all right there. Everything about the house helped make for a very enjoyable and memorable vacation.

Lovely home close to local attractions

Stayed here for a girls trip to the Black Hills. Lovely home close to all the major attractions - Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, etc. Walking trail is close by and daily views of deer, geese and ducks. We even had a visit from a friendly neighborhood cat. It was nice to park the vehicle inside the garage. Great communication from the host!

We stayed here for a family weekend. Quiet neighborhood just a minute away from Hill City. Lovely home with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The hot-tub was wonderful after a day of trail riding. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing property and Experience!!

This was absolutely the best experience I have ever had renting a property on VRBO. The house was exactly as indicated in the listing and was spotless! The check in procedure and correspondance with Melissa regarding our stay was seemless and effortless. It was really refreshing to get a couple of emails throughout our stay to just check in and see how things were going. The property was in a fantastic location that was close to so many of the National Parks/monuments, and attractions. The house was really well equipped with everything we needed for cooking some meals, playing games together and enjoying the hot tub while stargazing. This was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Black Hills!

Good-Bye Hotels!

Three generations, ranging in age from 8-75, and everyone enjoyed our stay! We LOVED it here! Morning/evening walks on the Mikkelson trail, breakfast and dinner ingredients picked up just down the road at Krull's Market, and space (inside and outside) for everyone to relax, play games, and watch tv after dinner. Many day trip options within 30 minutes. Hotel vacations will be less likely for us on future adventures!

Why they chose this property

We love our cabin because of its simplicity, hominess and central location to everything in the Black Hills. Staying with us means you are short drives to many of the most popular tourist attractions the Black Hills offers without realizing it when you are at the cabin. It's perfect!

What makes this property unique

The kitchen has a brand new fridge, stove/oven, microwave and dishwasher, in February 2021 and July 2021. The living room features a brand new couch and recliners in July 2021. We have replaced many items including the hot tub, grill, towels, bed sheets, pillows, dishes, pots and pans, and griddle. We've added a Keurig, an Instant Pot, a waffle maker and a brand new Pit Boss smoker (July 2021).
