About this property

Linda Vista - beautiful mountain home in Mazama

Summary:
Linda Vista is a three-bedroom mountain home on 6 acres near the Freestone Inn in Mazama. "Linda Vista" means "beautiful view”, and the home offers panoramic views of the Methow Valley and mountains. With direct access to the Methow Trails system, guests can enjoy world-class cross-country skiing out the door. In summer, it’s a short drive to the iconic North Cascades hiking trailheads. This eco-friendly retreat features a wraparound porch, and an inviting ambiance for indoor and outdoor living.

The Space:
Linda Vista has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 7. The master bedroom features a king-size bed and master bath. On the second floor one bedroom has a queen-size bed and a twin bed. The other bedroom features a queen-size bed and a writing desk. An upstairs office has a desk and a sofa. A fully equipped kitchen, spacious great room, washer/dryer, Wi-Fi, and other amenities make this a delightful retreat for families and friends. The wraparound porch connects the inside and outside and offers great views of the nearby mountains.

Linda Vista is an eco-friendly home that utilizes an extremely efficient geothermal heating and cooling system, water-saving toilets, and native plant landscaping. Linda Vista has a Sonos Wi-Fi sound system that guests can use. In addition, the property has a backup generator that will automatically turn on if the power goes out. This is a tremendous asset in Mazama, where power outages are common.

We provide games, maps and guidebooks to help you select the best trails for walking, skiing, and biking. Bring slippers.

The Neighborhood:
Linda Vista is located at the Wilson Ranch, home of the Freestone Inn and many beautiful private cabins. Guests have access to the hot tub and the swimming pool at the Freestone Inn and can swim, kayak, and paddleboard at nearby Freestone Lake. Bring your own kayak and/or paddleboard.

In the summer it’s a 17-minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 19 minutes to Washington Pass and 25 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead (*drive times according to google maps), making this one of the closest rental cabins to the North Cascades National Park and the Pasayten Wilderness and their many world-class hiking trails. Linda Vista is ideally located for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.

Linda Vista also offers easy access to North Cascade Heli, which is located ½ mile away on the Wilson Ranch. North Cascade Heli offers quick access to over 300,000 acres of premium skiing and snowboarding in the wild heart of the North Cascades.
If you prefer, slower, quieter forms of winter recreation, there is an extensive system of snowshoe trails just outside your door at Linda Vista.

If you prefer traditional alpine skiing, the Loup Loup ski area is 37 miles away and offers 1240 vertical feet and 10 cut runs. You can Nordic ski here too. Kids 12 and under can alpine or Nordic ski for free.

The Mazama Store, with its great bakery and ‘a little bit of everything good’ is just a 5-minute drive or 10-minute bike ride from the cabin; or around 20 minutes by skis (depending on how fast you slide and glide). Mountain bike and ski rentals are also available in Mazama.

The old west town of Winthrop is 15 miles and under 20 minute’s drive down valley, with its great shopping, bakery and dining establishments. The Shafer Museum is also worth a visit to learn about the local history. Winthrop has a fun ice-skating rink and is the jumping off point for Methow Rafting’s raft and float tubing on the Methow River. Winthrop’s annual calendar of events includes the Rhythm and Blues Festival, Vintage Car Rally, Memorial Day Rodeo, and Christmas at the End of the Road (check the town’s website for details).

Getting Around:
Getting Here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over State Route 20 and Washington Pass (check Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or via highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop. The nearest major airports are Spokane International Airport 180 miles away (year-round) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (190 miles in summer/ 260 miles in winter). Regional flights are also available at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee located 116 miles away.

Amazing stay!

This house is beautiful, has all the amenities, and a gorgeous location. We were in the area for a wedding at an inn nearby and it was the perfect spot for a group of friends to reunite. Would love to come back!

Wonderful house

Beautiful house, very well equipped, with access to XC ski trails right outside the front door, and short walk to the pub in Mazama. Perfect for three couples. We had a wonderful time.

Fantastic Home in a Spectacular Setting!

We had high expectations after reading previous reviews. They did not prepare us for the extraordinary house and setting we experienced. Our whole family, ages 10 to 69, were impressed and grateful. We will be back!

Beautiful cabin - great for families!

A beautiful home in an even more beautiful area. My family and I had a wonderful stay and cannot wait to return. The cabin is private, has all the amenities needed, and has close proximity to North Cascades National Park and the town.

Best place ever

We loved this house. It was incredibly comfortable, and charming. Liked that it was eco-friendly. The views were amazing, and it was ideally located for accessing the ski trails - right in between the Freestone Inn and Mazama store. Delicious fresh baked breads and pastries, soups and sandwiches at the Mazama store. It was a nice extra that we were able to use the hot tub at the Freestone Inn. The Methow Valley is an amazing place!

Relaxing Weekend.

This property was perfect for a relaxing weekend. It was well suited for our family of 5. And could have easily had another family with us. The rooms were well accommodating and the kitchen had what we needed to cook in. Winthrop is a short, easy drive. And the Mazama store is only 5 minutes away. The views from the cabin were breathtaking. Athena open property made it a great play area for the kids. Our family will certainly stay here again.

Nice property with mountain view

Overall it is a nice property with view to the cascade mountains, quiet location with plenty space for the family. Nice amenities are available in the property. Deer were wondering around during evening, so really relax location for vacation. Couple things to be aware though. 1. Window covering don't block the light well, so be aware about that. 2. There is no cell coverage around the area, so make sure to have check-in process before handing to the area as key needs to be picked up somewhere else. Overall still great stay for our family.

Soothing stay at Linda Vista

We enjoyed our stay at Linda Vista. The home has an elegant, spacious cabin feel to it, from the layout to decor. Very comfortable and relaxing home, easy to stay there and gather as a family. The home is well stocked with essential items in the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms, and has books and games to peruse. The two things we wished it had were a coffee table and a pancake griddle, but hardly showstoppers. The wraparound porch and views up and down valley were gorgeous. Birds danced over the meadow in front of the home and looked at us curiously when we sat on the deck in the sunshine. The Inn at Mazama property managers were very responsive when we had two small issues (a high ceiling smoke alarm battery died and chirped until they came and fixed it with a tall ladder, and a room door accidentally locked and we couldn’t get back in without a master key) and we appreciated that service very much. Overall, Linda Vista is a good place to stay in the Methow. We will definitely return.
