About this property

Serene Lakes - Wonderful Waterfront Family Escape

Beacon Lake House has been remodeled with upgrades throughout the home. It is situated on the east shore of Serene Lakes getting the full benefit of the warm afternoon sun. Excellent lake access with its own sandy beach with a canoe and 3 paddleboards available. Expansive, open floor plan in the living room, kitchen, reading loft, and dining room gives you great views out to the lake. Downstairs TV room allows for quiet upstairs. A great winter ski home too, with its nice light and warmth, and proximity to Royal Gorge and Sugar Bowl. Pet Friendly (1 dog only). This is a beloved family home; we come as often as we can and take great care of the place. We welcome renters who appreciate that and welcome a number of repeat renters year after year. We rented through an agency for many years (and before that were renters ourselves for many years), and are still new to VRBO. We welcome your inquiries.

Family for Thanksgiving week

We stayed five days over Thanksgiving with all our adult children children and young grandchildren. This house was great for a large group and multiple families. The location right on the lake is fun with a large deck and plenty of flat area to run and play. We even had one son take a polar plunge! Brrrr! The beds are comfortable, plenty of towels, and the kitchen was very well appointed with everything we needed to cook and serve large family meals. Response from the owner on one small issue was addressed quickly. We have rented many cabins in the neighborhood and this is our favorite.

beautiful place for large family

We have stayed in the area for over 10 years and this is by far our favorite house. The large deck looking over the lake and the easy everyday access to the lake was enjoyed by all. The home has plenty of space for everyone to take their own time to relax. The kitchen has everything you need and plenty of space and room for our food and group. We look forward to staying again and making more memories.

Relaxing Stay

We had a relaxing and comfortable stay for our large group of friends and family. The house is well-equipped and located in a beautiful neighborhood along the lakefront. Communication with the owner was easy and reliable. We were not able to utilize all the included watercraft amenities because of the weather (hail, rainstorms, residual snow) but enjoyed the scenic views and tranquil atmosphere. I would recommend this property for a large responsible group and I would surely stay again.

Ann is a great host!

We stayed at Ann's property for a ski trip two weeks ago. The house is great, the view is great and the location is great! I'd like to call out Ann is a great host! We have a total of 4 families and one has to stay on the lower floor. We couldn't get the lower floor heater going so I called Ann on her cell. Ann and her husband guided us to troubleshoot the issue and gave us super helpful tips to keep the lower floor warm. Ann reached out to me after our trip. Her husband and she sorted out and fixed the heater to make sure it won't happen to future guests. Ann went a step further to offer us compensations for our stay. There have been many recent internet posts and around our friends on bad hosts (such as intentionally extra charging guests with all kinds of lame excuses) and we're so lucky to have Ann as our host. Highly recommend Ann and definitely looking forward to coming back to this house during the summer to enjoy the gorgeous lake view and lake access!

Winter Wonderland

Our family had a wonderful vacation at Beacon House. The setting at Serene Lakes is beautiful. There was snow for snowball fights but the roads were cleared for walking around the lakes. Inside, Beacon house is very well-equipped for cooking and group dining. The fireplace is amazing and is part of a big space for being all together.. Other smaller spaces were fun for the kids playing dolls and games. Great place for Thanksgiving and no doubt wonderful for summer fun, too.

We are a Bay Area family with three daughters who have grown up going to Serene Lakes. We love the beauty of every season as well as the community around the lake. We are glad to be able to rent to families and other small groups who feel the same way!

Why they chose this property

Serene Lakes is a great community, off the main paths of the Tahoe region but full of great hiking, mountain biking, water play (the kind without motors), and terrific neighbors who all look out for each other.

What makes this property unique

Our place is not huge but we have a fully-equipped and spacious kitchen, lots of cozy rooms for guests, a comfortable open common area looking out on the lake, and a large deck for sitting in the sun. There is a TV room on the ground floor, with a couple of armchairs and 2 big beanbag chairs. This leaves the main floor for games, puzzles, reading, and socializing. The best view might be from the little reading loft at the top of the house. In the summer there's a lovely little beach at the end of a short path, where you can take a couple of paddle boards out, push off with a canoe, or have an evening cocktail hour. Get the right people together and it's hard to go too wrong.
