Had a wonderful time in a great place. Wine tour was fun and we really enjoyed the fire pit. Would come back next time for Thur-Sun to try more wineries and enjoy the area!
Very easy check in and great communication! House was clean, comfortable with a nice deck and outdoor fire pit area. I would recommend and also stay again in the future.
The place was clean and kitchen accommodations were perfect. We loved the fire pit and outdoor seating. I don't know how you could sleep as many as they claim and the game room was disappointing.
Hilltop retreat is a great place to stay when just trying to get out of town and spend some quality time with friends and family. So spacious and cozy plus so much nature to take in and enjoy. While the pond was iced over, it was still an incredible view for someone stuck in the city every day.
We had a great time with family on a busy weekend visit to the area. The home was well suited for a family to play and talk but then spread out during quiet time. The kitchen was well equipped and the home was very tidy. It's outside of town but not too far outside. Two thumbs up!
We absolutely loved the property. It sits right on a pond that my two sons fished on everyday. They caught bass crappie and blue gill. The house was very spacious and clean. I was shocked to not see ANY bugs since it is in a wooded area. Major plus!!! The kitchen had everything we needed. The host very responsive when we needed her. The lakes were about 15 min away, shopping was about 25 min away. There are plenty of wineries and hikes. I do recommend going to giant city and eating at the lodge there. It was delicious! We ordered Chicago style pizza from Martel’s and it was amazing. Giving our stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was great. Just as described. The pond was so much fun for the kids. Caught something almost every time they cast their line out. Catch and release of course. The fire pit and back deck are awesome. So pretty and peaceful. Fun hang out space at night. Communicate was great with Ashley.
We stayed there with 7 other friends for Homecoming and we loved every bit of our stay. The cabin I clean, spacious, and welcoming. The location is secluded and quiet which is nice to relax on the deck or around a campfire after a long day. It’s just far enough out of town where you have peace of mind but still super close to Murphysboro and close to Carbondale for a quick drive into town. Also located at the beginning of the wine trail. Comes with some games in the basement and tons of firewood is provided with your stay. You can also relax by fishing in the pond adjacent to the cabin. Overall I can’t think of anything negative to say about the owner and the cabin. One of my favorite place ever! We are definitely going to get it again next year for Homecoming.
Great place to unwind and sit around the fire pit. Great upper deck for breakfast overlooking the pond. Great place to stay while visiting the Shawnee wine trail
This place was immaculate and perfect for our girls winery trip. The firepit area looking out to the pond was beautiful. The house was clean and had everything we needed. They even brought us an air mattress last minute. We can't wait to stay here again!
There was plenty of space for our family. Downstairs was great for the kids. Loved the covered porch. Easy drive to wine trails and parks. The owner was very responsive to questions and any needs. We didn’t realize ahead of time that the stairs to the downstairs were in one of the sleeping quarters with the twin bed. There was a door to the outside in those same sleeping quarters. It turned out not to be an issue for us. Overall a great place to stay!
This is a very family friendly getaway, but would be perfect for a couple or a group of friends as well. There is plenty of room to spread out in this modern home in the country. Peaceful with a beautiful deck and back yard. We all had an amazing time, which is saying something considering there is no Wi-Fi (best part tbh). We went in February during a decent weekend, and still had fun outside. Highly recommend!
