We came up for a weekend to ride the Parrish Highland trail system. The location had more paved roads than I thought to get to the trails (that was my bad for misreading the map), but it curved through the lakes so the sights were great. The location had plenty of room for trailers and us to unload, peaceful and quiet, and a great spot for relaxation and no neighbors.
This home is not in rental condition. We stayed because of the proximity to our family reunion. A spacious hunting lodge with pool table in game room & large yard with apple trees, but appears to have been abandoned for some time. Unsafe and unclean (particularly the bathroom). Abandoned construction site and equipment outside.

Misrepresentation
I would not recommend this rental property unless you are okay with having to clean it first. The bathroom smelled like an outhouse. I had to go into town to purchase bed sheets and cleaning supplies. The place smelled musty. The fire pit was full of garbage that needed to be burned before we could use it. The beautiful view of the woods was the only accurate description of the place. The grass also need cutting.
Our host was super helpful and friendly with answering all our questions and getting us checked in. Plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. The house has plenty of space and clean. Had all everything you could need in a home.
We will definitely be renting from Gary again!
Spent two nights here. No issues. Just be aware there is no internet and cell signals are very weak.
The cabin has a great backyard area for dogs. There is really nothing within walking distance, so you have to drive to the fishing spots.
We enjoyed our stay.
We had a great time here. Gary was very nice during check in and helpful with questions. Kitchen was stocked. Overall would recommend and would stay here again!
I had a pleasant stay with my pets. The home is quite large and would be good for a family. The kitchen was equipped with everything I could need for cooking. Firewood was provided for the fire pit and the game room was a nice added bonus.
Me and my friends had a wonderful trip. The cabin was spacious and clean. There are some bugs but its a cabin in the middle of the woods, it's expected. They had everything we needed at the cabin and more. Small town of antigo is only 15 minutes away. It has cute diners, bars, and stores.
We only stayed one night, but it was clean, warm and cozy. The game room was nice. We go up to the area often and will definitely considering staying again.
Soft beds, with pull out couches for extra guests. Pool table room had a great sound system. Secluded area with a couple of bars within 10 min and a grocery store within 16.
I feel compelled to write a lots of words- but I won't -- Here's a quick list. (NOT so quick in the con department)
Pro's
Large space- lots of room
Nice to have a pool table
CON'S
-No working smoke detector (battery compartment was open-I suppose it could have been hard wired-- but I doubt it based on the apparent age of the cabin)
-Fire extinguisher- which owner told us was in the cabinet next
to sink- it was- but is empty (Per the guage on it)
-DEAD MOUSE under the stove- visible from sitting on the
barstool at the counter in the kitchen.
-Lots of open holes in walls- randomly-- I wish I could attach pictures-- There are so many to show!
-HEAT issues- it was cold -- and a small box heater that was
caked in dust on the filter was left for us to use (I cleaned the
filter hoping it would run a little more quietly.
- Fireplace that was listed in the listing was present, but the gas line was shut off, and the chimney didn't appear attached to the wall securely, and it was unplugged-- I sure wasn't going to use it not knowing if it worked-- and knowing there was no working smoke/ CO2 detector.
-Dirty tube sock in between couch and wall
- Nail sticking through piece of wood in the lawn-- my 7 year old stepped on it- Thank goodness it was only the wood she stepped on.
- Piles of debris on the floor under the electric heaters- that did not work
- Inside of fridge was dirty- onion peels, etc
I was NOT a happy person with the condition- This was nothing more than a dirty place when you actually looked at it. In the pictures or a quick glance was acceptable-- but in reality it was gross. Very deceiving!

Significant cleanliness issues
The owner messaged to set up a time to check-in and met as at the property. It's a very quiet property with a large house. After he left, we started to unload & unpack. After unloading my wife started to place items from our cooler into the fridge and I decided to take a shower. She told me she was having to clean the bottom drawers of the fridge because one was very dirty and sticky as I was passing. A few minutes later she came into the bathroom to tell me that when she was putting the drawers back she noticed a bunch of mouse poop in the fridge under where the drawers would go. I wish that was the end of it. As she was standing in the bathroom, she noticed more mouse droppings on the bathroom floor and lots on the shower mat (that I had just stepped on getting into the shower). She took the mat out to the carport area and came back and swept the bathroom floor to clean up the considerable droppings throughout the bathroom and then put down a towel so I could finally get out. After getting dressed she informed me there were also mice droppings on the kitchen counters that she had cleaned up. We decided to go to Walmart to buy a small vacuum to vacuum the rest of the place. After returning, I can tell you that $40 spent on the vacuum was the best money spent that week, based on the contents of the canister after. After all this, that evening I decided to check my work email and noticed there was no wi-fi or any sign of internet even though the listing said there was. The next morning I messaged the owner via the VRBO app about the mice dropping issue and the lack of advertised internet. He responded within a few hours, saying he was aware of the mice problem but it was to be expected in the country. He made no mention of the internet issue. I checked a couple of weeks later and it was still incorrect, although I do see that it is now correct. They will never be able to correct the mice issue as-is because there are large gaps under the doors at the main entryway. The main interior door is missing its threshold at the bottom so there's a 3/4" dip where the tile ends and drops off under the doorway. The outer storm door's sweeper plate is rusted and set to high and has a 1/2" gap at the bottom. The entryway was/is pretty much a mouse super-highway. Each day we had to vacuum all the floors and clean the counters because we'd find significant amounts of mice droppings on the counters and on the kitchen and bathroom hard floors.
