We loved this cabin and the chance to watch the sunset from the enclosed back porch. The kitchen is well stocked with pretty much everything you'd need to cook, the bathrooms have the FLUFFIEST towels I've ever seen in any lodging, and the sound of the lake is so soothing. We were disappointed in the WiFi (connections didn't last long), but everything else was absolutely lovely. So many places to hang out, inside and out. It's a great place to stay!
Great place with everything we needed for a long w/e away. Beautiful view, gorgeous sunsets. Loved the screened porch being able to sit outside even with a light rain. Visited a winery and several nearby restaurants. Perfect spot….we will be back!
Beautiful spot on East Rush Lake. Adorable cabin, stocked well, clean, cozy!
Katy was amazing and patient. She answered all my questions in a timely manner!
Our family truly enjoyed our stay!
Everything was as advertised-- except the fishing was better!
The only thing that would make it more desirable would be a faster internet connection ... But you are at a gorgeous lake and so being on-line was not that important to us.
The host was fabulous-- definitely doing this again!
Great lake place so close to the cities! Katy was a great host with quick responses. The cabin is small but has good sleeping capacity and everything you need. The large screen porch was a very nice feature providing a great indoor/outdoor hangout when not on the lake. The lake side west facing firepit made for beautiful sunsets!
This cabin has literally everything you need for a nice relaxing getaway. The well stocked kitchen even had an electric skilltet for pancake breakfasts. We spent many hours fishing from the dock and the shoreline and caught lots of large sunnies, bass and crappie. We brought our boat and fell in love with East and West Rush Lake, highly recommend the Grumpy Minnow when you want a break from cooking or grilling. The large screened in porch with amazing views was perfection! We were only able to stay for 4 nights but will definitely stay longer next year. Highly recommend this cabin!
Wonderful weekend getaway. Spectacular view and sunsets. Loved the screen porch area and everything we needed was already supplied for us. Wonderful owner who we got to meet. Will for sure come again. Thanks!!
We loved the scenery though the bugs were plentiful and the fish were scarce. We ran into a few issues and Katy tried to rectify them. The internet is not good anywhere in the cabin. We found the grill had not been cleaned from the last guests. Extra linens would have been nice for a 3 week stay. Katy did provide extra towels which was appreciated. The cabin is old and really needs some TLC.
Nice mix of rustic Mn cabin with some modern touches. It was furnished with all of the extras we needed. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated the AC and ceiling fans on hot nights. Communication was clear and immediate when needed. Our kids and pup enjoyed the stay too!
My name is Katy, Minnesota born and raised. Long time lover of being on the water, and home-improvement projects. I’ve spent countless hours working on this little cabin with my dad. My parents acquired the property next door to their original cabin, and intended for little Verna’s to be torn down and built-on, but after watching it sit there unoccupied for a couple years I convinced them to let me “fix up” the old cabin so we could utilize the extra space for family and friends. My family and I have been spending our summers at this lake for the past 8 years or so, and it’s one of my favorite places to be in all seasons of the year.
Why they chose this property
This cabin has fantastic character! Originally built in the 60’s by a thrifty builder, made from “leftovers” he stashed away for years. After he passed, he left the cabin to his 2 daughters, one of them named Laverne (who my parents bought the cabin from). I love the older single-hung windows, plastered walls, hand-made fireplace, and weathered doors. Hand-prints are still left on the rafters from the dirty hands of the framers. We’ve found so many cute little things in this place that you will find on display in the cabin, such as an old fishing map from the 70’s and some old handmade boat anchors. This cabin has been so well-used for decades that you can be carefree staying here and your pets can be included in your vacation without worry!
What makes this property unique
Such a short distance from the cities, this is the perfect getaway. The layout of this cabin is unique with the sleeping upstairs and the kitchen/dining downstairs in the “basement”. You come out the kitchen door into the screen porch that faces the lake and in the summers, you can leave the doors open and let the outside in. The floors downstairs are aged concrete - so no need to worry about kids running in with wet swimsuits off the lake!
