Beautiful house with huge garden and pool

The beautiful vacation home leaves nothing to be desired. It is beautifully furnished, has everything you need and was clean on arrival. The views from the terrace and the balcony are wonderful. The highlight is the well-kept garden and the very large pool with pool bar/hut. Everything is well maintained by the janitor. The location is good. The sea is within walking distance, as is a small supermarket and the bus stop. The nearest big supermarket is only 15 min by car. The property is close to other well-kept houses, but quiet and safe. The access road is a bit bumpy, but drivable. We would love to come back.

First time visiting Panama

Gorgeous property like a mini estate. Well maintained grounds with beautiful palms, flowering shrubs and fruit trees. A multitude of varieties of cheerfully chirping birds. Also a huge crystal clear pool, and thatched lanai. The house had good air conditioning, and all of the necessary amenities. The upstairs master suite had a fabulous view of the ocean, and a wonderfully comfortable bed. Definitely rates 10 out of 10!!!

It is really a great property! The garden and pool are so inviting! And the casita is just right!

We rented the house for the third time and had again a great time. Relaxing surroundig, poolbar, hammocs....all you could ask for. The road to the beach was longer then I remembered, but still beautiful vegetation all along!

Perfect Paradise!

We had an amazing 8 days at this ideal home away from home! From morning coffee on the balcony listening to the birds sing, long walks on the beautiful, quiet beach near by, reading and cooling off in the pristine resort-sized pool, dancing the night away in the bohio, it was all so enjoyable. Chris's house is spacious, well-equipped, cheery, comfortable, and the bed in the master bedroom has a good quality mattress - great sleeps! The onsite caretakers are very friendly and helpful, as was the property manager, who quickly answered texts and provided lots of helpful information and suggestions to better enjoy our time the area. An excellent grocery store is just 10 minutes away, and there are some really good restaurants within a 15 minute drive. Carlitos, a fun pizza joint, with great food and a delightful staff is just 5 minutes away! El Valle is a half hour or so away and well worth the drive. The mountain views are spectacular and the village so delightful! There is a big market here with delicious fresh fruits and vegetables. We also took a bus tour into Panama City from a nearby resort. Very clear and helpful information was provided by the owners, along with a welcome basket filled with treats. This is a property where guests are valued and appreciated. We could not have asked for a better vacation! We are planning to return!

Overall, the property is gorgeous, as described by other reviewers. Jenni was warm and welcoming.

The location is convenient— it’s close to the surf camp, El Palmar and Rio Mar beach, which are both great beaches, especially for kids during low tide. The casa is modern on the outside and rustic inside. Appliances and kitchen utensils are old but functional. We felt the place could have been cleaned more thoroughly prior to our arrival. There were grease stains on the stove and sinks and showers could also use a deep cleaning. Cutlery, pots, pans etc. required an extra rinse before use. The downstairs beds were a little uncomfortable (we didn’t love the mattresses), but we slept ok because it was quiet and peaceful. My parents slept upstairs and said the mistress was better. The sunset view from the upstairs room is speculalar. We ran out of water a few times which was a little annoying. The property manager explained that the property has it’s own well and it gets low sometimes. All good! Internet wifi is slow so if you’re trying to work from the casa, it may be a bit of a struggle. When booking, the checkout time was listed at 11:00am, however, we got an email the morning of our departure that checkout was 10:00am. The property maneger respected the 11 o’clock checkout and didn’t rush us out. The overall grounds are beautiful and well kept. The bohío and a pool are highlights of this rental. The yard is big enough to throw around a frisbee and for kids to runaround. The host—Jenni is friendly and warm and is knowlwdgsble about things to do in the area.

Perfect Vacation!!

We stayed at this beautiful property for a romantic 5 day vacation and had to be dragged away. The house is very cute and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The views are spectacular from anywhere on the property. We spent long hours in the hammocks listening to the palm trees in the wind and watching tropical birds. The pool is awesome!! The beach is incredibly beautiful and we only saw 1 other person on the beach the whole time. I want to go back, NOW!!

Beautiful house with a large pool.

We loved the house with the spacious main area with the dining room and good a kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms, especially the master which has a deck which turned out to be great for stargazing (too hot in the day). All the comforts are there including WIFI which worked much of the time and a great washing machine room with backdoor access to a clothesline. The pool had shade areas (bohío), which provide welcome protection from the sun, and the large pool was great for cooling off. There is a major multi level building construction site next door complete with concrete trucks and normal banging and dumping of construction materials in the dump directly behind the property, We were out touring a lot, so this mattered in the morning only when we were having coffee by the pool and trying to relax and listen to one of the myriad of bird calls or the breeze wafting off of the Pacific. The distance to the beach was reasonably close, but required a 4X4 for part of the road there. We found it to be within walking distance, but it can be a bit of a hot walk, not recommended for the elderly. There is another house on the property and you share the pool with those tenants. You may not need to bring radio as your co tenants may play the boom box in perpetuity. If a quiet getaway to a foreign country immersing yourself in local sound and culture is your thing, you might get foiled by all the soft rock pop hits from the 60's to the 90's. Part way through our two week stay, the living room air conditioner died. It was never replaced or repaired for the remainder of the visit. We were told that the owner wanted to wait for parts instead of bringing in a new unit, but this left us with a hot living room which the 78 year old in our party (who used the room the most) especially did not enjoy. We were able to leave our bedroom doors open so that air conditioning from the bedrooms would leak in making dining in bearable. All in all it was a nice trip except for the aforementioned issues. The caretakers for the property were most helpful with directions and suggestions for our visit. The main road system in Panama is great, We did lots of touring and went for long walks to take in the rugged beauty of the great long vacant Panamanian beaches.

Great stay in sunny San Carlos

We just returned from 2 weeks in our cozy home. As the other reviews have stated, the highlight is definitely the outside space - the pool, bohio w/hammocks, yard, covered patio and 2nd floor balcony are great and we definitely spent most of our time outside. The lot is well landscaped and meticulously maintained. There are mango, lime, pineapple and banana trees. We were only able to enjoy the limes as they other fruit was not quite ready. There were tons of roadside fruit stands though. The house was nice if a showing a little wear and tear. The house easily accommodates 4 people comfortably. We found the living room area a little small and awkward when we did try to watch the Oscars on tv. There certainly were plenty of English speaking stations. We really enjoyed the 6-burner gas stove. The kitchen was well equipped for basic cooking (you need a new can opener - the ones in the drawer are terrible!) There are lot of fans throughout to keep you cool and a/c if the bedrooms and living room if required. The only drawbacks were the comfort level of the bed (very firm mattresses) and the noise from the nearby highway. There was also noise during the 4 days of Carnaval - nothing too crazy but you could hear firecrackers, fireworks, party music and drumming at times. The fan of the a/c helped drown out any noise. Jenni and Tim, the caretakers were wonderful - very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They directed us to some great price fixe restaurants and side trips. When we had trouble reaching our car rental company for our return trip to Panama City, they helped us secure a driver. The nearby beach was very nice, especially for beachcombing and jumping in the waves at low tide. The black sand is very beautiful but definitely hot to walk on. There is very little shade and as it was so hot and sunny while we were there, we found it hard to spend long periods of time at the beach. It was a 10 minute walk down a road that is under construction. Most days we would only see a few people on the beach but at the height of Carnaval, there must have been 20+ locals enjoying the surf. San Carlos is very central to a lot of beaches, activities, restaurants, Coronado and the ex-pat community. It was a little less hectic than Coronado but only 10 minutes away so we enjoyed the slower pace. If you want to avoid the 1 1/2 hour drive plus the crazy traffic, we found out that Sunwing and Air Transat fly to nearby Rio Hato, only 20 min away!

Just finished a month stay at Chris's San Carlos casa! I can't say enough good about our stay. The house was exactly as described-well furnished with everything you need! Just bring your swimsuit, sandals light summer clothes and relax! The pool was amazing spent many relaxing hours there! Tim and Jenni the caretakers were the most welcoming warm and wonderful couple! Always ready to help with local information-directions whatever you needed! We hope to return next year and pick up where we left off! You can't go wrong here it was one of the most beautiful relaxing places we have stayed! Thanks again Chris-Tim y Jenni!

Relaxing get away in beauiful Panama

We stayed 6 nights at the property in March of 2016. The property is easy to get to right off the Pan-American highway about 90 minutes outside of Panama City. The property is just as advertised, clean and location is perfect. The property is also very safe with gated entry. One of the coolest things is you can get up in the morning and walk about 1/4 mile down to a private black sand beach and watch the sun come up over the pacific. The black sand mixed with lighter sand is so beautiful. I would walk for over an hour and at most see two other people. We also loved the ability to buy fresh fruit and fresh fish and bring back to property. A fresh delicious watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple ran us $3.50. Lobster, fish and prawns enough for 3 dinners fileted and shrimp cleaned and deveined was $44. There are close restaurants and the mountains are 20 minutes away. Where can you walk on a private beach at 6am, watch the sun come up over the pacific and be in the mountains at a farmers market by 10am? Answer is here. Furthermore, the caretakers, Tim and Jenni are from the states and speak perfect English and know the area and are very helpful. We even did a joint a bbq the last night we were there. The pool, hammocks all made for a relaxing vacation. I just can't say enough good things.

Amazing place!

It is not often that my expectations for a vacation spot are exceeded, but this place beat the odds. I had seen a few photos prior to our trip but they just didn't do the place justice. The large grounds are nicely landscaped and very well maintained as well as very private. 100% walled off and fenced with no close neighbors. The casa we stayed in (one of only two) was new and very nice with all modern conveniences and great views of the ocean from the upstairs master suite. The real gem here is the pool and bohio (palapa). both are far bigger than the pictures would seem to indicate and would easily accommodate all the guests this place could hold and more. Very well maintained and just an awesome spot to hang out. The closest beach is a short walk down a dirt road and is quite nice with very few other folks to be found on its mostly black sands. Easy drives to other beaches, small towns, and the foothills and mountains. Lots of good restaurants in the vicinity and the roadside fruit and veggie stands rock. Flora and fauna galore to boot. Go!

Exceptional!!

This property is amazing. We loved the POOL!! The huge tiki hut was great for lounging in the hammocks. The mango trees were dropping fruit so all we had to do was stroll over and pick a fresh ripe mango off the ground. We stayed in some hotels in Panama and this place was way nicer than any place we saw. Highly recommend it!!!

My wife and I and another couple had such a great time staying at this beautiful little gem in Panama. The pool, bohio, hammocks and grill made it hard to even leave the grounds. Once we did, however, we had a short walk to the prettiest beach you will ever see. The water was clear and warm and every day was sunny. Surprisingly, we came across several great places to eat nearby although there were some occasions when we weren't entirely sure what we were eating because the signs were in Spanish and no one spoke English. That made it fun, though! We even had a mud bath in a place not too far from the homes that was about as exotic as it gets. The homes and the surrounding amenities were just as advertised. I'd highly recommend this place for a great getaway.

A great place to get away from it all!

What a great place to get away from it all! Just as I imagined from the pics if not better in person. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff attendant was there just enough with whatever we needed - and definitely not overbearing. There is a great place to eat right in town and I really loved the ceviche to go from the market across the main road. The beach was beautiful with varying scenery to keep it interesting and very isolated...only saw one or two people at a time! Highly recommended!

Peaceful Paradise!

This home and surroundings were breathtaking! The home was very tastefully decorated and included everything you could possibly need. It was well-maintained and spotlessly clean. It was hard for us to tear ourselves away from the grounds to do any touring around the beaches, which are a 5-minute walk away. It is so peaceful, and at the same time, we felt safe enough to explore the surrounding areas. The groundskeeper greeted us when we arrived and explained how very thing worked. He was also available by phone for any additional questions. Wifi is also available...a nice bonus. There are great restaurants both within walking distance and by car just a few miles away. We would definitely recommend this place. It was a wonderful experience.

The photo says it all....

We couldn't have had a better 5 weeks than the ones we spent here in San Carlos. Fabulous grounds, inviting pool and bohio, great internet service, and more than accommodating home. After spending four of the last five years in Costa Rica, we had decided to try Panama for a change. What a great decision we made! We loved being 10 minutes from fantastic grocery stores and other services, wonderful restaurants, and only an hour and a half from Panama City and its tours, etc. We will return to this place in the future. Hands down the best!

You will Love it!!

We absolutely loved this place!! You never know what a place is really going to look like when you get there and often times the pictures are better than reality but not here. This property is spectacular, the amenities are modern and the home is very comfortable. We spent countless hours just relaxing by the pool and also enjoyed the many activities Panama has to offer. The description on the web site was accurate and the owners were very helpful and friendly. They answered all of our questions as we prepared for the trip and we could not have hoped for a better experience. Highly recommended!!!!

Paradise!!!!

Passing through the entrance to this property you enter a lush, tropical paradise and instantly congratulate yourself on your vacation destination planning. We lounged away the hours in the hammocks hanging in the huge thatched outdoor space, and also enjoyed floating in the pool in the shade of the palms, and photographing the property's banana, lime, papaya, and mango trees. When we could motivate ourselves, we took the scenic 5-minute walk to the private beach where we saw hermit crabs and dugout canoes and enjoyed the rolling waves of the warm ocean. The house is well-appointed. Beds comfy. Rooms cute and clean. Beautiful views. Caretaker lives on site. The owner was responsive to our questions and provided a handy guide of the area's many restaurants and activities. A fun day trip to a nearby mountain town (nestled in the crater of an inactive volcano) offered a market, a rain forest hike, animal attractions, and restaurants. A trip into Panama City to tour the canal was also really fun and convenient. We look forward to going back and staying again. Highly recommend.

overall Disappointment!!!

My wife and I can actually say that the pictures on the website are for the most part pretty accurate. The outside of this home is beautiful, they have a great looking swimming pool, two great looking patios upstairs and downstairs, where you can watch the day go by. Near the pool, you have covered beach chairs, you can also barbecue inside the Bohio that can accommodate your entire family. The views from the pool and from the house are really nice. That was the best that the house has to offer. Hector seems like a nice person, but he tends to disappear for long periods of time, leaving you to you to fend for yourself. In all fairness to him, he took me to the fish market, showed me around town and to a great restaurant that we enjoyed during our stay. On the negative, the inside of the house was filthy. We discovered stains on the sheets that smelled like urine or something that you wouldn’t want to sleep on, there was dust everywhere and bugs of every type all over the house. The worst of it is that the owner has not invested in mosquito screens for the windows and doors, which forces the guest to close the doors at all times, thus loosing the use of the tropical breezes during the days and evenings. The kitchen was falling apart. All of the amenities were dirty and the stove was not efficient. This house just needs some TLC and it would be a jewel in San Carlos. It appears that whomever is in charge of cleaning inside the house before the guests arrive does not think this is important. The light fixtures around the property are cracked and falling apart, the barbecue pit was dirty and it took a few hours to clean it, the filtered water in the kitchen was suspect, the ceiling fan on the first floor is noisy and kept us up all night and the shower needs a good scrubbing and sanitizing. By the way, the CD music player did not work and the cell phone that was promised for the guests was missing in action. Overall, the San Carlos house has potential but lacks the attention to detail.. I am sure I am like most vacationers that do not mind paying the advertized prize if they are getting the basics right. My recommendation to you is do not stay here until you can get a commitment from the owner that he will ensure that all of the above things are taken care of off before you arrive.

Lovely property

The home is very nice, with everything you would need. The pool and cabana were perfect for cookouts in the evening. We had a rental car, and drove to El Valle one day to do some hiking and horseback riding which was great! A couple of friends also rented surf boards down the road at Panama Surf School, which they had a lot of fun doing. Oh, and two thumbs up for the empanadas at Carlito's!!!! Overall a great stay!

Relaxing place, great pool & grounds

The house met with all our expectations & was as described. Any minor issues were dealt with quickly by Hector, the manager. To make your stay more comfortable air conditioner is needed in living area, (not a deal breaker). Definitely need a car to get around, good selection for grocery shopping, expect to get lots of R&R by pool.

Awesome experience

The house was exactly as advertised. Pool was awesome. Everyday it was around 90 degrees . Ocean was warm to swim in. Hector the caretaker was very accommodating . Went to El Valle, rode 4x4, had massage and shopped. Toured Panama Canal and old Panama City. Panama people were very friendly. The house was just perfect. Recommend for a great stay.
