Peaceful Family Getaway
This property was even better in person than the pictures portrayed! It was very clean and comfortable. The outside space was amazing! Fire pit, swings, grills, cornhole, porch swings, hot tub and entertaining area, wrap around porch with beautiful view. Kitchen was well stocked and the farm fresh eggs were a thoughtful touch. Our five kids had plenty of room and privacy to run around outside on the property and play. We thoroughly enjoyed fishing in the pond and everyone caught several fish! Our host was very informative and responsive. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

One of the best getaway rentals!
Arlene's Escape may be one of the best vacation homes I've had the pleasure of renting. Super clean, well-equipped, and comfortable, the pictures don't do justice to the comfort of the house or the beauty of its location. I came with two older family members, and we had so much fun relaxing, drinking wine (thank you, David!), and laughing around the table. Can't wait to go back!

Peaceful getaway
The cabin is secluded on 72 acres. We loved the hiking trails and fishing. We also enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. My favorite part of the cabin was the porch that wrapped around the whole cabin and had swings and hammocks. Great place to watch the sunset.

What an amazing place to stay and unplug a little. This cabin is in a dreamy setting. We enjoyed everything about it. The hot tub and fishing were definitely highlights for us. The host is very thoughtful and easy to communicate with. When we arrived, there were some amazing local goods in the refrigerator for us to enjoy they truly thought of everything. We hope to be back

Family get together
Our family loved Arlene's escape cabin! The cabin was just what we hoped for as it was set on a beautiful, quiet, peaceful setting but was only a 15 minute drive to Walmart and a 30 minute drive to visit our daughter who attends Liberty University. Be sure to check out James River state park which is a short drive away if you like hiking or kayaking! The cabin was very clean and had an amazing wrap around deck with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the scenery and views, we really liked the fact that the owners have a hot tub with automatic cleaning settings and an amazing fire pit with wood that was provided. Communication with owner David was quick and helpful. Our family is already planning our next visit to Arlene’s cabin and we highly recommend to visit yourself if you want a break from city life or a nice quiet retreat.

Family Getaway
My husband and I were absolutely blown away with this property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as did our children. There was plenty to do if you chose to or feel completely at home on the porch relaxing. We really enjoyed feeding the fish at the pond and fishing there as well. The children loved the tree swing and exploring the trails. We cannot wait to return and make this one of our regular getaway spots!

My husband, myself and our 2 dogs spent a few nights at Arlene's Escape at Piney Mountain Preserve. The cabin was more than we could have imagined. So clean, perfect accommodations, unbelievable setting. Our host David was so responsive and that was really appreciated. Tim and I look forward to coming back again. Perfect calming stay
This property was absolutely perfect for what we were looking for. We wanted somewhere quiet and peaceful but still plenty to do for entertainment. The hot tub, corn hole, porch swings, trails, and pond kept us entertained the whole stay. It was such a wonderful time spent unplugged after a big wedding weekend! David was so kind and very communicative with us, we felt right at home in the cabin. We can’t wait to return in the future.

Quick trip but very relaxing
This beautiful cabin provided us a couple days of R and R with our son who just graduated basic. It was the perfect spot to clear our heads and relax. It was really clean and had everything we needed. There was plenty of room to spread out, it was secluded from noise and there was so much to do. We hiked the trails and fished at the pond. The porch swings were perfect for visiting and watching for wildlife. We had such a great time!

Stars are stunning!!
I’ve never wanted to give a 10-star rating before renting this property. Five stars don’t do it justice. It is the most welcome home with comfortable bedding and furniture. The hot tub is new and impeccably clean. A great place to watch the stars. Don’t forget to stop by and feed the fish. It is so much fun!! If you are looking for relaxation, look no further. The property is so serene!

Great two night get-away
We were three couples who stayed two nights over the weekend. Lots of great things to say about the place - clean, great outdoors space, immaculate hot tub, and kind responsive hosts that treated us to some of their fresh eggs and garden goodies upon arrival. They provided delicious coffee as well, which was a total bonus! The kitchen is small but pretty well stocked with essentials. We enjoyed walking the trails around the property and hanging out by the pond. To note, the doors and handles are cabin-lock style and are a bit noisy opening and closing. Sound travels easily throughout the house. If you’re a very light sleeper, would recommend a sound machine or ear plugs. Would recommend!

Amazing and Just Perfect
We chose this property to celebrate my daughter's college graduation. We are big outdoorsy people and thought vs separate hotel rooms and going out to dinner this would be the perfect way to celebrate and include our dog. Bedding was amazing and overabundant. Everything was clean. The owners left wine and eggs for us. They were easy to reach and responsive with any questions, including finding a local bakery for a cake! Campfire was great. They were flexible with intermittent family coming to visit who were staying closeby elsewhere but wanted to come and join in some of the festivities. As advertised and a perfect getaway for solo, couples or family young and older.

Deserves More Than 5 Stars!
We spent the last weekend of the year with our adult children in Arlene's cabin. It exceeded our expectations! The house was beautiful and secluded which is exactly what we were looking for to end the year off relaxed and rejuvenated. The cabin was spotless and well stocked with items for a wonderful time away. The hot tub and the outdoor swing (bed) were a highlight for all of us. With our faces cool from the mountain breeze and our bodies covered in the meticulously clean warm water, it was heavenly. The view was breathtaking and serene. Many of us took naps on the swing or read a book while panning the horizon of God's perfect creation. The hosts were friendly, responded to any questions we had promptly, and provided everything we needed. I am thankful we had the opportunity to experience a little piece of heaven!
