From the early 1990s, renowned Seaside architect Richard Gibbs’ classic two-bedroom Charleston style cottage has been winning praise and return guests to its relaxed Forest Street location. The cottage features a much-admired deep porch (or “dogtrot”) style layout, with a large full-length screened breezeway linking the private bedrooms downstairs and the kitchen, dining and living areas upstairs. The cottage was fully renovated including new air conditioning system, ceiling fans throughout, and new laundry appliances in February 2023.
The street-facing entry door leads onto a screened porch with direct access to the two mirror-image bedrooms, each featuring a platform queen bed, new storage drawers, dimmable indirect uplighting, large shuttered window and smart TV. The inviting private ensuite bathroom for each bedroom includes a walk-in shower with frameless glass door and rain showerhead, new marble vanity, backlit vanity mirror, and heated floor. An outdoor shower is provided off the entry level porch.
Up an easy staircase, the second floor includes the renovated kitchen, dining and living areas, another full-length screened porch and Juliette balcony overlooking quiet Forest Street park. The premium kitchen is equipped with stainless Wolf oven and gas cooktop, Sub-Zero fridge/freezer and Asko dishwasher. A new ample pantry and separate broom closet form a short passage from the kitchen to the completely new dining area with trestle table, benches and chairs. Suspended above the dining table from the 13’ ceiling is a dramatic chandelier. The living area, open to dining, is furnished with a comfortable new sofa, swivel chairs, and 50” Frame TV. There is a newly wallpapered powder room adjacent to the living and dining areas. The upper screened porch is furnished with a table and chairs perfect for morning coffee, and a classic bench with upholstered cushion.
Little Lodge is perfectly situated for experiencing all the best of vibrant Seaside, while also enjoying the wooded areas behind the cottage for strolling or jogging.
A backyard timber deck with gas barbecue, outdoor dining table, and picket fencing completes this compact venue, your vacation home while enjoying the Seaside beach, shops, and dining just steps from the cottage.
This cottage welcomes the four-legged members of your family. Whether your extra guest is a purse-sized Precious Muffin or an 80-lb Grand Marmaduke, your well-trained canine is accommodated at Little Lodge. The village grocery store, post office and bookstore have sidewalk water bowls and lead tie-downs for all visiting pets. A pet cleaning supplement will be included in your booking fee.
