Great Property, Wonderful Location
We stayed in this cottage in Gujan-Mestras for 4 weeks and just loved it. The cottage sits on a seawater pool which in part of the Basin d’Arcachon. It is surrounded by oyster huts and has views across the Basin to Cap Ferret.
Downstairs there is a very well equipped kitchen, a large lounge-dining area, laundry with a toilet and upstairs, two bedroom and a nice bathroom. Everything is only a few years old. Outside there is a large terrace overlooking the water and parking for two cars. The property is fenced and very secure. Although the Bordeaux to Arcachon train line is across the street, this was no concern for us because the trains are surprisingly quiet and don’t run later than 10pm..
We were met by Julie, the owner who explained the property and was a delight for the whole time we were there. Nothing was too much for her or her husband. Shops are nearby and it is only a 15 minute drive to Arcachon. Of course, eating or buying oysters from the oyster huts is a must.
We felt the photos did not do the property justice and it exceeded our expectations from the description and photos when we booked.
This was a unique experience for us in a beautiful wooden cottage, in an amazing area with delightful friendly people. We have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone considering a vacation around the Basin d’Arcachon area.
