This house is in the perfect location. Right down the road from the center of Damariscotta and short day trips to a large number of fun locations to visit. It was clean and the kitchen is incredibly well stocked and organized. The location on the water is beautiful with great views.
This was our second summer stay at the house. There is so much to do in the area, convenient shopping and creature comforts but feels like a quiet get away. This year, right from the deck we saw deer, an eagle, crane and other wildlife.
Beautiful, immaculate property in magical location. Wonderful host. Well equipped home with every need anticipated and available. All the charm and natural beauty of midcoast Maine at your doorstep. Perfect location to access any activity you could wish for. We loved our stay !
The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and offers both convenience and privacy. We enjoy cooking, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The open concept afforded lots of light, and the view was lovely. There is lots to do in the area - Pemaquid lighthouse, Coastal Botanical Gardens, galleries, and hiking etc.
We were very happy with our place. It was so well decorated and had everything we needed.
Having the Anderson across the street was a real plus.
I highly recommend this property.
Cheerful, very comfy and clean. Fabulous kitchen, high quality mattresses and bed linens. Great views, the deck was our home base. Very convenient location. Hosts are super-nice, very accessible. Highly recommend.
Immaculate but comfortable space with amazing vistas from every window. This home is perfectly appointed and nestled at the end of a charming lane with a magical point to sit and gaze at the water. Tom and Jennifer are fabulous hosts!
Thoroughly enjoyed our two week vacation - again! This makes over 50 years of Maine vacations. Our hosts were very attentive and helpful. Their rental has all the accessories and conveniences anyone might need.
Our only compliant dealt with the weather - two hurricanes, really???
House is fantastic, beautiful view of the river, great light, comfortable and very well stocked. We went out for some meals but also love to cook. It was easy to make great meals with the lobster coops, farmers markets etc. we brought our own kayaks and access to the river was easy, we loved exploring the river this way and paddling to town for lunch was a lot of fun. We saw bald eagles, seals,, osprey and many beautiful birds including a barred owl that we heard at night. We look forward to returning. Tom is very gracious host. We highly recommend it, the peacefulness is unsurpassed.
Trudi's Place is charming with tucked away vibe, but only a mile from all the creature comforts of town.
A well-appointed kitchen was one of our favorite features, and we enjoyed the great blend of comfy furnishings and artistic touches.
The veiw of the water was loveliest dawn. We loved that we could escape for a quick trip (25 min)to Pemaquid Beach or just 5 minutes away to the cute shops and restaurants in Darmiscotta.
Jennifer and Tom were gracious hosts!
Tom, the owner, was extremely helpful our entire stay. He asked us for suggestions at the end of the trip, and we really could not think of any. This home has everything, and all utensils and staples you could possibly need. It is clean, cozy, and bright. The King bedroom is a real sanctuary with its comfy bed and beautiful water view. Minutes from the downtown and grocery stores.
Tom and Jennifer are wonderful hosts. The house is clean, spacious, has large windows that give beautiful views over the river and is stocked with everything you need. The location feels quiet and secluded but is only 5 minutes from town. Tom and Jennifer live right across the street and were so welcoming. It's truly a unique experience to have hosts for a vacation rental be so friendly and welcoming. It was really like staying at a friend's home. It was one of our best vacations ever. I hope to stay again one day soon.
Trudi’s Place was the perfect location for our June 2024 visit to Damariscotta with friends. The house was centrally located for day trips to Acadia Nat’l Park, Augusta, Portland, and more. The village of Damariscotta has great shopping, galleries, and restaurants. We took two boat trips and visited Glidden Pt. Oyster Farm. Tom and Jennifer were friendly, attentive hosts and the house is well-appointed with everything we needed, especially in the kitchen. We loved having breakfast on the deck every morning, watching the tide come back in. From the deck and house, we saw eagles, black-backed woodpeckers, deer, and more. It’s a lovely neighborhood to walk, and the path down to the water is beautiful. We would not hesitate to stay at Trudi’s Place again.
Thank you Tom and Jennifer!
Tom and Jennifer are excellent hosts and very attentive.
The property is beautiful and very well maintained.
It is a very private location at the tip of a secluded peninsula with a private shoreline to wander at our leisure. But we were only 5 minutes away from "civilization". The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed cooking almost every night, except when we went to nearby Damariscotta for dinner...or lunch...or breakfast. The beds were also very comfortable and much appreciated after active days.
It was a very relaxing and comforting stay which we all much needed and very much enjoyed.
We really loved the Osprey catching their dinner in the river on our last night.
Amazing view, comfortable beds and over the top hospitality!
We came from Florida to experience some Fall weather and to partake in this town’s annual pumpkin festival. The home had everything we needed and more. The accommodations were very comfortable and The hosts were very helpful with all of our questions and needs. We saw lots of seals, birds and chipmunks from the big bay windows over looking the water. We traveled with our two kids and they loved their bedroom and the downstairs extra living room with books and puzzles. We enjoyed exploring the area and even found our own Oysters. Tom helped show us how to prepare them for dinner. If you’re looking for a place in this town look no further this one is the best!
Of all the towns and villages in Mid-Coast Maine, Damariscotta was always my favorite, and after I sold my long-time summer studio in a nearby town, I wanted to find a place in Damariscotta where I might stay for a week or two...a quiet place on the river where I could reflect, recharge and reconnect. Trudi's Place gave me all of that and so much more! The tall pines, wildlife, and river views are definitely inspiring, and the house, itself, is truly a retreat, with emphasis on "treat." It's spacious but cozy, with several sitting and dining areas, comfortable beds that insure a good night's sleep, and a kitchen that is superbly well-equipped. Tom and Jennifer are amazing hosts! Their gracious hospitality and thoughtfulness was very much appreciated.
Loved the size of the rooms, from the well-stocked kitchen with room to not bump into others when cooking, to the king bedroom with the terrific mattress, to the deck where the breeze was always blowing. Loved watching the birds feed, the quiet. The loveseats in the living room were comfy, and even though it was summer, on one of the colder nights, I found the
living room fireplace to put out a good deal of warmth.
Would have liked a curtain over the top of the window that over-
looks the king bed, and a few more screens. I also think a few more lights would work wonders in the living area, something like pot lights in the ceiling.
As another reviewer said, photos can not do justice to this property. It’s perched right at the water’s edge and the waterside view is simply pristine. The nearest structure in view is a boathouse a half mile or so away on the opposite shore. The home is indeed in a neighborhood but the feeling is one of remote, natural Maine. The quintessential Maine town of Damariscotta is just under two miles away, with restaurants, bars and shopping. It’s the best of both worlds. The home is stocked with everything from quality beds, linens, cookware and knives to anything else you might possibly need and, finally, the kind and generous hosts are right across the street. They are the greatest ambassadors for the state of Maine you could ever hope to meet and they made our visit a joy.
We had the best time here on our vacation! First, the owners communicated generously to my various questions in advance of arrival. The house was spotless and extraordinarily well appointed. Tom and Jennifer met us upon our arrival and kindly gave us a house tour, which gave us the opportunity to ask questions and get restaurant suggestions. They are extraordinary people - always available if we had a question, and very thoughtful. They had left us a bottle of wine and a beautiful bowl of fruit for our stay.
The house itself is beautifully decorated and quite comfortable. Some minor updates may be needed, but they did not impact our stay at all. The porch was lovely. Having coffee in the mornings overlooking the River was a ritual for us and we loved every minute. Such a serene location only a mile from downtown Damariscotta! We couldn’t have been happier! You’ll love it too!
Fantastic, Fully Equipped, Roomy, Cozy Getaway with Amazing Water Views in the heart of Damariscotta
Some colleagues and I travelled to Damariscotta for project and Trudi's place was the perfect spot to call home base. The photos do not do it justice. With two floors of living space and vaulted ceilings, it is simultaneously spacious and charming. The house was immaculate and well stocked for all our needs, with a massive and fully equipped kitchen, and very comfortable beds. Situated on the tip of a peninsula, the house is surrounded by water, visible from almost anywhere in the house through its wall-to-wall windows, or via the wrap-around deck outside. We felt like we had the best of both worlds, with serenity and privacy, yet only a 3 minute drive to picturesque downtown Damariscotta. Tom and Jennifer are extremely warm and welcoming people. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything to make our experience as comfortable and seamless as possible, while also providing world class recommendations for local restaurants, shopping, and more. Our guests came from NYC, Nashville and Toronto, and our work was productive and inspired, at least in part because of the accommodations. This would be our first choice the next time we find ourselves in midcoast Maine for any reason (whether work or pleasure). Five stars. Highly recommended.

About the host
Hosted by Tom Anderson and Jennifer Lee
Tom Anderson and Jennifer Lee own and live in the house at 97 Westview (directly across the street) and are available to answer any questions about the home and the area and to assist with any issues. We are permanently retired now in Maine and are originally from California. We offer a complimentary wine tasting, upon request, in our pub on one evening during your stay in our fully equipped Irish pub.
Why they chose this property
This property is directly on the River at the very end of our street and peninsula adjacent to the common turnaround. It is rural, quiet, and is home to a variety of wildlife (e.g., bald eagles, seals, fish, many seabirds, etc.). At the same time it is less than 1.5 miles from the center of town, and near all conveniences such as three supermarkets, Walgreen's, gas stations, shops and restaurants.
What makes this property unique
The most unique aspect of Trudi's Place is its location including its proximity to all of the local Damariscotta Services and Merchants, while being directly on the Damariscotta River in a very rural area. The Damariscotta River produces 80% of the oysters from Maine, that are considered some of the World's best, and they are right on the shore in front of this house!
Rise in the morning directly facing the sunrise and enjoy coffee on the deck directly off the kitchen. We provide a canoe, kayak, and rowboat that are available in season as well as use of a private dock (at our main house at 97 Westview directly across the street from Trudi's Place) for direct river access.
Finally, we offer complimentary cocktails or wine, upon request, in our Irish Pub in our house directly across the street on one night during your stay of 7 days or more.
