Charming, Recently Updated, Air Conditioned, Pet Friendly, Santa Barbara Home

This is a lovely, 1600 sq/ft, charming Santa Barbara home originally built in 1925. It has been significantly remodeled and updated. It is located in a desirable, quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to a Trader Joes, gourmet market, coffee shop, Patisserie and multiple restaurants. It is within a 5 minute drive to the beach or down town.

The back yard is private with large surrounding hedges. It is gated and fenced as well which makes it an ideal pet friendly environment.

It's an ideal rental for working remotely. There is a separate, dedicated, two person office adjacent to the kitchen with a large open pass through window. A Windows PC and printer/scanner/copier are available for use. High speed wireless internet access is included.

The house is configured as a 3 bedroom, 1and ½ bath home and one of the bedrooms has been converted to a den/TV room. It’s a great room to hang out and watch sports or movies on the connected Smart TV. Additionally two temporary guests could sleep on the sofas if necessary.

The kitchen is modern, beautiful and completely equipped with utensils, cookware, baking pans, silverware, spices and cooking oils. There is a Cuisinart coffee pot and a Keurig coffee maker. Reverse osmosis water is available by tap and also via the refrigerators chilled water and ice maker. A microwave, toaster, blender, KitchenAid stand mixer and Global knife set are there for your use.

An every day dinner ware set is available as well as a fine dining dinner ware set located in the china cabinet.

The main bathroom has also undergone a major remodel. It is luxurious with a 6 ft Bain Ultra two person bath tub with shower heads controlled with a Grohe thermostatic valve. The tiled floor is heated. The W/C is a separate enclosure.

The half bath room has been recently completely renovated. The new Toto toilet has a higher ADA complaint floor to bowl rim height.

The master bedroom contains a queen size bed, ceiling fan, and a 32 in smart TV.

The guest bedroom has two twin XL beds that can be combined into a king size bed if desired

The living room has a beautiful mountain view. There is a gas fired log fireplace. An audiophile quality stereo system is available for your use. It’s a lovely setting to enjoy the view or a fire in the fireplace while listening to your favorite music.

The den/TV room has a large screen smart TV with included Hulu+ programming. It has Roku capability so you can easily stream from your Netflix, Amazon Prime or other accounts. The sofas are large enough to be used temporarily as sleeping space.

The laundry room has access to the half bath and contains a new Samsung washer and dryer and a wine cooler. The house has central heating and air conditioning. All utilities including internet access are included. There is weekly gardener service. The back yard is gated and fenced.

A complete, updated security system is in place. The door locks are keyless.

There is ample off street parking for up to 3 cars. The driveway has been recently widened. The garage is available for parking and storage.

Lovely Retreat

3rd Return Visit

My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our month-long stay in January at John and Sheri's property. We really appreciate all the personal touches in their home that make it feel really special and not at all like a 'vacation rental.' I also loved having a dedicated workspace and huge computer monitor which made working remotely so much easier for that amount of time. We can't wait to come back again next year!

Nice stay

Just about everything you can need was available. Host was very attentive. Suggest changing the mattresses on the twin beds to softer for comfort. I slept on the couch for almost a month. Nice stay.

Rest and relaxation and just like home

Most well equipped rental we have experienced. Having reverse osmosis water and computer printer are just 2 examples of the extent of detail the owners have gone to make staying here just like home. They were also friendly and helpful in learning about the area. Electronic goodies in sound system, TV, and office were easy to use and we will consider cutting the cable. Rooms were cozy and comfortable for TV and reading and listening to music. Reminded us of our homes in New England. Property exceeded our expectations for our month stay.

Outstanding home with terrific hosts

My wife, I and our dog loved this home hosted by John & Sheri. The kitchen is well equipped, the house is comfortable & we appreciated the TV room separate from the living room. The front porch is a wonderful place to read with a view of the mountains. The back patio is relaxing with a large, fenced-in private yard . John & Sheri have created a wonderful place in a quiet neighborhood within 10 minutes of everything SB has to offer. Finally John & Sheri made us feel welcome upon check-in and responded immediately to any questions we had.

A pure delight!

John and Sheri have created a delightful vacation experience. The house is beautiful, well appointed, and in a lovely neighborhood ideal for walking and quick access to anything you may need. We found SB and the house to be the zen we desperately needed and are already talking about our return next year. They provided a book of recommended sights and eating venues that were spot on - we were never disappointed in any of their recommendations. If needed, John and Sheri quickly responded to any question we sent their way. You will not be disappointed staying with these great hosts.

Wonderful Stay at Wyola!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wyola House in January 2022. John and Sheri arranged a wonderful welcome basket for us and our Boston Terrier and promptly responded to any questions or concerns. The property was just as listed, in a quiet, walkable Santa Barbara neighborhood, within minutes of beach, local coffee and bakeries, grocery (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods), Hendry Beach (great for dogs) or just a relaxing beach walk. We met several neighbors (and their pets) during our morning walks. It was better for us to park on the street right in front of the house for easier access than to risk using the driveway (it's as harrowing as the listing says). The view of the mountains from the living room is spectacular, almost like a painting. The gas fireplace (we used it nearly every morning and evening) and the cozy couch and chairs were wonderful. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking. Very nice washer/dryer and updated primary bath. Our dog enjoyed the private backyard and sunny patio. The windows are fragile as the listing mentions and a few dusty screens, but nothing terrible. We hope to stay again soon!

Awesome place to rent

Owners know how to host guests. Snacks and basic food items when you show up so 1st night you can chill and don’t need to go out. A bottle of wine chilling. Location great for walking to restaurants. Neighbors and neighborhood are very friendly, with lots of hellos and neat yards.

Great house, great location

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautifully renovated home. In addition to enjoying the comfortably furnished indoor spaces, because the weather was unseasonably warm for November, we were able to read and relax on the peaceful furnished patio and the front porch. The view of the mountains from the porch is a bonus. John and Sheri are very responsive and the minor issues that came up were quickly resolved. We have stayed in many rental properties and agree that the house is exceptionally well equipped and the "house warming" gifts over-the-top. Perhaps most importantly, the beds are very comfortable - just what Goldilocks would want: not too hard and not too soft. My back was very very happy!

Relaxing stay in perfect climate

Really comfortable house including an enclosed yard which our cocker spaniel found fascinating, and where we spent time grilling and reclining on the lounges. Sheri and John were wonderful hosts who volunteered excellent advice on the local restaurants and places to hang out. We were greeted by Sheri with over the top “house warming” gifts of food and drink. We rent vacation homes often and have simply never experienced such warmth and generosity. The area is fun, filled with a number of good restaurants yet far enough away from the main touristy area of SB, that we felt like locals. This is an exceptional place to stay for a relaxing getaway. One thing to note is the driveway, which is a bit narrow and could be considered challenging absent care and focus. However the check in instructions alerted us to this, hence no problems. We would absolutely enjoy returning to John and Sheri’s home next time our travels find us in the area. Many thanks

True Home Away from Home

Host, Sheri and John have created a delightful, comfortable home with every amenity possible for their guests. I had the pleasure of staying in their home for one month, their attention to details… breakfast foods in the refrigerator were much appreciated since I was diverted to an airport several hours away and did not arrive until late in the evening; phone call to remind me about street cleaning day because it was a $50 fine if the car was left on the street ; keyless entry and security system programmed specifically for me - I felt safe as a single woman...were amazing. Tried to be specific to give you an idea of the care and thoughtfulness, the hosts provide for their rental / deserve more than 5 stars. I would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic stay in Samarkand

We have just completed a wonderful week at the property in Santa Barbara. The house was perfect. Super location with amazing views. The ability to walk to Handlebar for coffee and Breosh for pastries and bread was a real bonus. The house is really well equiped for a family and John and Sheri are really kind hosts-treats for the kids and adults on arrival. Would absolutely stay again and throughly recommend. From the start the communication was also brilliant and that really set the tone. Thank you!

Best Santa Barbara experience

This house was perfect for our annual visit to Santa Barbara for a two week stay to visit family. Everything was very clean and the amenities provided were excellent and very complete. Wonderful house, great location, great personal touches!

We had an amazing time at this house! There are so many nice little touches to make you feel at home, like the amazing tub, sound system, heated floors and great outdoor space. We worked remotely during this stay and having the office space was a great perk! The hosts went above and beyond, ensuring the place was baby-proofed for us, providing a playpen and gift for our daughter, beer and wine for us and plenty of snacks and other kitchen staples. We would love to come stay again soon!

Perfect Spring Getaway

My mom and I had a lovely time at John and Sheri's home. The neighborhood is so charming and beautiful, and I enjoyed taking long walks every day admiring all the gorgeous old homes at every turn. The house couldn't be in a better location--walking distance to great restaurants and coffee shops with a Gelsons and Trader Joes less than 5 minutes away. The house has all the amenities you could possibly need, and was set up really well to work remotely during part of my stay. The huge backyard with a brand new BBQ was also a plus. John was great about checking in during our stay to make sure everything was going ok, and the personal touches like a lovely gift basket waiting for us when we arrived were above and beyond. We can't wait to come and stay again!

Everything you could ask for and more!

The house is beautiful and the setting spectacular! Very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Lots of little extras and thoughtful touches. It is also in a great location. Quiet neighborhood but still accessible to everything. John and Sheri are extremely thoughtful and go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They also have great suggestions for all types of stuff. The whole experience was great. Our family of 4 relaxed and had fun. We would recommend staying there in a hearbeat!

I'm a medical professional and have lived in Santa Barbara for quite a while now. Having grown up in Kansas City, I consider my self to be extremely fortunate to have spent most of my professional life here. But, I'm still a big Chiefs fan!

Why they chose this property

This was my home for many years prior to my marriage in 2009. A major remodel was undertaken in 2003 with creation of a modern gourmet kitchen, luxury bathroom, central heating and air-conditioning among other upgrades. Since my marriage, this house was rented unfurnished to two long term tenants. We have recently decided to rent it furnished and equipped as a vacation property and in doing so we have renewed a strong and enjoyable connection with the home. And now we're looking forward to sharing that enjoyment with others.
