Great home, views and owner!

Even better than advertised. Patrick’s home is exceptionally clean, comfortable, peaceful and appointed. It is located on a beautiful lot and has everything needed to accommodate at least four adults and a baby. Patrick is a great host and communicator and does not annoy you in any way. He made my stay terrific! Don’t miss this one!

Great house in a beautiful location

The house was clean and neat, just as shown in the pictures. Kitchen was stocked with everything you could ever need. Appreciated the k-cups and snacks that were waiting for us. Forest roads were great for walking and local roads were nice for biking.

Peaceful and Tranquil

My husband and our dog needed a little time away from caregiving for his father who lives with us. We just needed time to be a couple and be still with one another. This house was perfect! It so perfect! It was clean and the setting was so peaceful we didn’t want to leave. The beds are the best we have ever slept on besides our own! The kitchen was well stocked in case you forget a few simple things. It was fun to cook on the Z-grill we had never used one before. The views are spectacular!! We cannot wait to start planning our next stay here! This is the best VRBO experience for us so far!!

Peaceful and Private Retreat

cozy and clean in a gorgeous setting

The house was impeccably clean with a very good kitchen: great knives, good cookware (except for sadly mistreated cast iron pans, but I wasn't expecting cast iron anyway; other cookware was good), well-stocked pantry basics, fridge condiments, and paper/plastic goods, excellent gas range, a countertop toaster/induction oven/air fryer, a Keurig, etc. Owner was friendly, responsive, and helpful. Setting is gorgeous and quiet, with the nearest grocery 15 minutes away. Laundry in basement, comfortable beds (though without reading lamps, and one without any nightstand), surprisingly effective window air conditioners, spectacular views, excellent wifi, and a blueberry bush in the yard, yum! Plus a helpful info booklet (thank goodness for the Keurig instruction manual, I'd never used one before), bug repellent provided but we didn't even need it, and lots of helpful touches. Note that the VRBO listing says "Minimum 2-day vacancy between guest stays" but this is not true; previous guests checked out in the morning, the owner's cleaner came in during the day, and we arrived that afternoon. We opened all the windows and doors for a while on arrival, to ensure a complete air exchange for COVID-19 safety. It was a great place to stay, and I would definitely come back!

Listing pictures don’t do this place justice. Property is super clean and view is amazing. Only negative is that all beds are up a steep set of stairs. Wouldn’t work for seniors or young children.

Loved it here

We had a wonderful time at this property and were so impressed with the thoughtfulness of the host and the space itself! It is secluded, but not to far from lots to do (we went hiking, tubing, to the local motor race, the farm stands, and got lots of ice cream). It is the only house on the road with a wonderful view, and it was so nice to sit on the deck and just watch nature. Inside, the house was impeccably clean and well cared for. The beds were comfy and the wifi was great. The AC worked well on the hot days. We loved the selection of games and were blown away with how well stocked the kitchen is. Seriously, it’s set up to cook! It was clear the host cared a lot about the guests and there were so many considerate, homey touches. I loved our stay here and would come back in a heartbeat - thank you!

Great weekend getaway!

My husband and I, along with our two dogs stayed at great house over Memorial Day weekend. The house was very clean and I am very particular and usually end up cleaning when I arrive somewhere and here, I didn't have to lift a finger! The house sits just off the road that wasn't super busy - just people that live up the mountain I assume. The view from the deck was amazing. The wrap around deck, which needs a little love with some new paint, was a playground for my dogs! They loved chasing each other around and around! The bed was comfy and water pressure was great. The State Park trail is to the left of the house. It's a gravel road that runs through the forest - walk in, walk out. It was a nice walk with the dogs. The area is very rural. We enjoyed visiting antique shops and a fishing trip over to Oquaga State Creek Park (20 min.) The weather was iffy so we didn't plan too many outdoor activities, but there seem to be plenty. Food wise, it's lacking... but not sure you'd expect 5 star restaurants in this area. We brought a bunch of food from home and cooked. The closest grocery store is 20 min away. Great place for a weekend away!

We purchase this get-a-way house in the summer of 2020. We have been using it to spend some much needed time with our family. We wanted to share this experience with other families. We fell in love with Afton and our property and hope our guests feel the same way !
