Little Mountain Retreat in Beautiful Pocahontas County

Little Mountain Retreat is a custom log home completed in 2008 and located 'just a few miles from everything'.

Enjoy the solitude and relax by the fireplace in this 3 bedroom/2 bath log home. Grill steaks on the backporch or gather by the fire pit in the back yard and roast hotdogs and marshmellows. Pocahontas County is 'nature's mountain playground' and outdoor activities abound. Nearby the Greenbrier River offers canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing while the Greenbrier River Trail is designated for biking, hiking, horseback riding and XC skiing. Watoga State Park also borders the Greenbrier river.

The surrounding National Forest and state lands offer excellent hunting, fishing and camping.

One of our favorite places
We have stayed on your cabin before when my father was alive and wanted to stay again to bring back the memories and feel close to him. Boy did we ever. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. Always so clean peaceful and just perfect with all the amenities you need.

Clean and Comfortable Cabin
Communication with property owner prior to stay was good. Cabin very clean and organized. Beds comfortable. Kitchen had what we needed for food prep and storage. Wi-Fi worked well. We were at the cabin only to eat, shower, and sleep so can’t comment on other amenities the property offered. Ten minute drive to Cranberry Glades. Would stay there again for sure.

Love Little Mountain Retreat
My husband and I love this area of WV and visit at least every other year. We’ve stayed at LMR at least half a dozen times, and it’s always wonderful. It has plenty of room, comfortable beds and furniture, and is always clean. The house is located in a perfect location close to the Cranberry Wilderness and Watoga State Park. It’s also not too far from Greenbank Observatory and Sandstone Falls. You’ll love staying here.

Hillsboro and Marlinton WV visit
The house is clean, well maintained, attractively decorated appropriately for a mountain cabin and situated along a scenic route. All appliances were in good condition as were furniture and linens. Lots of cooking gadgets were there for guests. The setting is quiet. We drove around the scenic loop, had dinner in a restaurant and rode bikes on Greenbrier Trail during our stay. Well water occasionally had sulfur aroma when run hot but filtered water sources were at kitchen sink and in refrigerator so drinking and cooking water was fine Maybe the laundry water was filtered too; nothing we drank, cooked, or washed (including us) picked up any sulfur so well water wasn't an issue. I would readily go back.

Great Stay
Really enjoyed our stay. Close to a lot of great attractions and gorgeous scenery. All of my questions were answered timely. Enjoyed the nightly visits from the neighbors dog. Hopefully we get to stay again in the future.

The Great Get away

Perfect getaway!
Our second trip to this fabulous retreat - everything was perfect as always. Beautiful cabin, every amenity, amazingly charming. Discovered the Hillsboro public house restaurant, which was extraordinary. Will definitely keep coming back for mid winter getaways.

The place is charming. The location is excellent for a lot of outdoor winter activities. There is a small town nearby for basic shopping needs. I would stay there again with my family.

Beautiful Cabin
Stayed over the Christmas in WV and wanted to be close to mountain side/snowshoe. Perfect little cabin that fits a family of 6. Not many close by restaurants opened due to holidays but enjoyed stay and relaxing. It snowed a little so kids had fun! There was some store near so you can get grocery and cook at the cabin. Should bring your own shampoo/body soap since we couldn’t find them at the cabin. But everything else is there and you get a little surprise with neighbors friendly dog(if you don’t like dogs be aware, it tried to come inside the cabin multiple times. Owner is very friendly and communicative so check in was smooth. I’d definitely come back to this nice quiet cozy place. Beautifully maintained.

Perfect setting for a relaxing and cozy stay
A very warm cozy and comfortable cabin tucked beautifully into the WV mountains. It was nice having a weekend home to enjoy the spectacular fall foliage in the mountains without all the heavy tourism. Although it was deep in the mountains, the roads were in good condition and scenic to get to the cabin. The host replied very promptly to all texts.

Relaxing Weekend in the Mountains
This is a beautiful well equipped log cabin on a nice piece of property just off the main road. It was very peaceful warm and cozy. We enjoyed the fire pit and walks around the property. It's not too far from a number of local attractions so there is plenty to do in the area. Definitely a nice place to stay!

Excellent property, beautiful area.
Great location for exploring Snowshoe Resort and New River Gorge Park. The “yard” around the house is perfect for kids playing, fire pit fun, and porch sitting. Inside was cozy and the kitchen was well stocked. We had a great visit and thoroughly enjoyed our family time at the cabin. Highly recommend!
