2/10 Terrible

The worst property we have been to.

We booked the house through Marriott’s Homes and Villas for the 7/4 week. While the online picture look good, it is so lagging behind Marriott’s quality, basically unlivable, so that we left 3 nights earlier. The house is dirty, TV is broken. We tried to call the number in the checkin sheet left on the table by the Vacasa’s local agent, it was the wrong number. We tried to clean the house, the vacuum cleaner is broken. My wife waded the entire bedding for the two bedrooms, the house is still unlivable. We left the place three nights earlier.

few little problems, one big problem

Vacasa – please please please listen to past reviewers and upgrade those mattresses! There is no excuse for a nice-looking rental in a great location to have such terrible mattresses on each bed. Imagine a cheap pull-out sofa bed mattress where you can see the springs sticking out – that is what the mattresses on the beds were like. I saw reviews from a year ago that noted this problem. Why hasn’t this been fixed? It’s not that expensive, and an upgrade would make the experience so much better. We contemplated buying an air mattress and sleeping on the floor to get through the trip. If you’re planning on booking, I would recommend bringing a memory foam pad or something because the beds were that bad. There were other small details that were off about the place – the photos on VRBO look much nicer than the place looks in person, a few windows didn’t open, the washer was on its last legs, the back door could only be locked from the inside, but I would overlook those things if I was able to get a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed!

Location is great!! The unit needs some work.

The pros: This place has 2 things going for it - location and the fact that it's rented by Vacasa. Seriously you can be on Park Loop Rd in Acadia within minutes and about a 10 min walk to town. The cons: When we arrived the unit appeared cleaned at first glance but had a terrible smell throughout. The smell was that of being shut up for a long time - musty and moldy and pretty overwhelming. The large utensils were left scattered on the kitchen counter along with a cleaner. It was like someone came to check on the place and quickly left. The master bed had a thin sheet over the mattress - no mattress cover - you could see through it and the mattress had small beaded up materials that you could feel, the sheets were very scratchy and uncomfortable. The second bedroom did not seem to have the issues as the master did. The master bedroom closet smelt worse than the unit and I would not put our luggage in there because it was so strong. It was so late when we arrived it wasn't feasible to contact anyone so we made do for the night. The next morning - Vacasa contacted us via text wanting to know how the unit was. I addressed the smell and asked for more bedding and did let them know the yard grass was very high. Vacasa put in a work order. Nothing happened that day, but we opened up the windows to let the place air out. That helped a good bit. Monday Vacasa came with new bedding, installed the upstairs A/C and had partially cut the grass. The Vacasa employee informed us that this unit was owned by the local college and students rent out during the school year. She told us the unit should have been cleaned and carpets vacuumed before we arrived but that didn't happen. She was very kind and sympathetic and got what we needed. We bought some Febreze - sprayed the place down then aired it out and that did help. After we made it through the 3rd day the place was better, but still a lingering smell. Just know, if you want a relatively decent place to stay with kitchen, washer and dryer, and just like doing your thing this place is OK! The washer and dryer is at the ending stage of its life cycle, still worked but very loud. The parking in the back is basically a big mud-hole. Really needs to be filled in with gravel. It's a shame this could be a really great place. The yard did not get completely cut until the day before we left. I say all this just to let the next guests know. The pictures look great but the place has been worn well. It's still very functional and useful. If you are looking for a quaint little place with a Maine touch this isn't for you. If you just need practical and a place to crash and help out the local college - go for it! Just glad Vacasa responded and stayed in touch throughout the process.

A Satisfactory House in a Good Location

Good location on a quiet street only 10 minute walk to downtown. We only used the master bedroom (there is a second bedroom) and the bed was quite comfortable. Photographs on Vacasa’s website give the impression of a much more modern, updated home than reality. House is satisfactory and in reasonable shape, but condition and furnishing do not warrant the premium price. Also Vacasa was not very responsive to our repair requests (issues were not urgent but did deserve attention).

Awesome location

Had a great family vacation here. The property was very close to Acadia National park and walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor. No need to deal with parking downtown. Just walk everywhere. Really enjoyed our time here

Convenient and good communication

The home is in a good location close to town but outside of the business. When I had an issue with the dryer, Vacasa was easy to contact about the issue.

Great location - about 10 min walk to edge of town. Close to a park for the kids and close to Acadia National Park. Very spacious and relatively up to date. Only cons were the creaky mattresses in both bedrooms, floors didn`t look like they were vacuumed but really I think the cleaning crew just need a better vacuum. Everywhere else (bathroom, kitchen, etc.) was clean. There is only one portal AC in the master bedroom which is a bit loud but does cool the room which is nice in the summer.

Great location and easy access to everywhere on Mount Desert Island! Quick access to Acadia National Park with many amazing hikes and wonderful views. Quiet neighborhood setting which was perfect for relaxing after long days of exploring. A quick 10-15 minute walk into downtown Bar Harbor with many restaurant choices and shopping. We would stay here again!

Great place in a quiet location but close enough to walk to shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. Also short drive to park loop road and carriage trails. Condo has nice porch in back. Property backs up to woods so very nice area to sit outside.
