Slow Down & Rejuvenate! Hot Tub, Sauna & Trails at the Olympic Foothills Lodge
Olympic Foothills Lodge — A Tranquil Mountain Retreat for Families, Friends & Nature Lovers
Escape to the peaceful embrace of Olympic Foothills Lodge, a custom-crafted, two-story bungalow nestled among towering evergreens in the scenic foothills of the Olympic Mountains. Just outside of Port Angeles, Washington, and minutes from Olympic National Park, this spacious retreat offers a perfect blend of rustic charm, modern comfort, and outdoor adventure.
Whether you’re planning a multi-family vacation, a nature-focused getaway with friends, or a quiet retreat to unwind and recharge, Olympic Foothills Lodge is your serene sanctuary on the Olympic Peninsula.
The Lodge: Spacious, Cozy, and Perfect for Groups
With accommodations for up to 16 guests, the Lodge features 4 well-appointed bedrooms, a large loft, and 5 full bathrooms—including one with a traditional hot rock sauna. The master suite is located on the main floor, providing added privacy and convenience. Upstairs, the bedrooms and loft offer flexible sleeping arrangements for families and groups of all sizes.
This is not just a place to sleep—it's a space designed to gather, relax, and reconnect.
Gourmet Kitchen & Dining Spaces
The gourmet kitchen is fully stocked and ready for everything from pancake breakfasts to multi-course dinners. With high-end appliances, generous counter space, and cookware galore, it’s a joy for home chefs.
Enjoy meals at the large indoor dining table for ten, or take it outdoors to the wrap-around covered porch, complete with a gas BBQ grill and cozy seating area—perfect for morning coffee or sunset dinners.
Unplug, Slow Down, and Reconnect
The lodge is intentionally designed without TVs, encouraging guests to disconnect from screens and tune into nature, creativity, and each other. Instead, you'll find a library stocked with books, a game table for cards and board games, and a baby grand piano in the parlor for spontaneous music and reflection.
With free WiFi throughout the home, you can still stay connected when needed—but we highly recommend taking a break from the buzz.

About the host
Hosted by Steve Kunkel

I’ve been married to my wife Alice since 1979. We have two daughters and six amazing grandchildren. In 2022, I retired after completing my other property, the Copalis Beach House on the Washington coast near Ocean Shores.
Now that I’m retired, I come up to the Lodge about once a month to relax and make sure everything stays in good working order. Hosting guests and sharing this special place brings me a lot of joy.
Why they chose this property
While property near the ocean had its appeal, I was drawn more to the forest. For me, the forest is deeply rejuvenating — a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature. Based on the kind feedback we've received from guests, it seems many others feel the same way.
What makes this property unique
This simple choice has contributed more than anything else to the peaceful, rejuvenating atmosphere of the Lodge. Instead of screen time, guests enjoy playing games and puzzles, making music on the piano, gathering around the outdoor fire pit, playing badminton, or walking the private forest trail. It’s a place to be present — with yourself, with nature, and with the people you’re with.
