About this property

HOT TUB w CA King beds Acres of & secluded. Pymt plan, dogs welcome

**HOT TUB - Reconnect with someone you love in this secluded getaway. You deserve it! Fall & winter are great times to see the mountains! 2/2 with CA King beds, large 2nd floor screened in deck to watch wildlife. What adventure will you try this season? What lifelong memories will you make? Come stay here and watch the trees, deer, birds, or the stars from a covered hot tub tub!

This 2 bed 2 bath home is the perfect getaway for a couples retreat or small family. Each bedroom has huge CA king beds with memory foam mattresses, plush linens and memory foam gel pillows. You won’t want to leave. The only thing you need to bring for yourself is flip flops to walk to the hot tub!
We personally love the screened in 2nd floor porch. Sitting out there and watching the sunrise, listening to the birds, and watching the deer walk by the yard is an amazing way to start any day. Enjoy some coffee on one of the chairs and just relax!

See the Blue Ridge Parkway, visit some of the local wineries, walk around quaint downtown Lexington, take a carriage ride! You can do as much or as little as you want out here. Whether you want to curl up with a good book or have an adventure, this is a place for either type of family vacation.

The home is situated near the end of a dead end paved road up in the mountains of Lexington, Virginia. If you want peace and quiet just follow the various creeks and rivers out of downtown to the quiet seclusion of Deer Ridge Manor. The drive through the countryside from downtown Lexington will relax you and take you back in time to a simpler and slower way of life. Wake up to birds, fall asleep under the stars. Leave the hustle and bustle of city life as you re adjust to the sounds of nature. Take your dog hiking too as we are dog friendly!

This is our personal home - we are a military family stationed away from the area right now. We aren’t some big corporation hosting random people - we love this area and this home - literally as our own. We put a lot of pride and effort into it - so know your stay helps out a military family too! We have several repeat families we host every year, do you want to be one as well?

**🏔Enjoy being out in the country but also close to several major attractions in the area! 🏔
** 23 miles to the closest Blue Ridge Parkway entrance
** 13 miles to VMI and Washington & Lee in Downtown Lexington
** 12 miles to Virginia Horse Park
** 18 miles to the VA Safari Park
** 21 miles to Natural Bridge State Park

The master bedroom is spacious with a California King memory foam mattress bed and full bathroom. The spare bedroom also boasts a California King memory foam mattress bed and lots of shelving with books to read. Our little lending library grows! We have a policy of bring a book and take a book, so if you want to be part of that fun please bring a book!

The home does have internet access, it is a DSL signal, so this will be potentially a connection lite stay. You may not be able to download entire video series out here, but with the natural beauty and peace you won't want to be staring at a screen. Zoom calls do work - and we have had guests work remotely from the home without an issue.

The property sits on 8 acres of woods, and is just around the corner from Lake Robertson, a large lake park with fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing. You are also only 20 minutes from Natural Bridge State Park and Caverns and the Virginia Safari Park. We back up to the George Washington National Forest, so we frequently get wildlife - most notably deer, turkeys, racoons, possum, tons of song birds, and the occasional black bear.

There is firewood on the property for the outdoor fire pit. Some guests find it easier to light fires if they bring some sort of dura-flame log or precut/treated kindling since the firewood on the property is untreated natural wood.
If you are looking for more things to do in Lexington while you are visiting please visit: https://lexingtonvirginia.com

There are a ton of great resources for dining, activities, events, and history information on that site. You will not be disappointed!

Please note we do not allow hunting, ATV's, dirt biking, smoking or shooting any firearms on the property. When walking around the property please realize that there may be plants and animals harmful to you, such as bears, deer, ticks, snakes, poison ivy, poison oak, etc. Do not eat any of the wild plants or remove/fall any of the trees on the property. This is a rural, wild place and we would like to keep it that way, so please do not leave food items and trash outside. It attracts animals and makes them dependent on human interaction, which in the case of a bear is lethal to them.
This property does not have municipal garbage service, so please take your trash to a collection center just down the road. The municipal trash collection area is open 7am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and 1pm to 6pm on Sundays. Do not leave trash outside the home. We do have wildlife that travel through the area and this property. You will likely see many while staying at this home.

This property is also on well water (filtered and water softener used) and a septic system, Please do not flush anything down the toilet except toilet paper. The property does not have a garbage disposal in the kitchen, so all food items must be put in the trash, not down the sink drain.

We ask you keep pets off the furniture. There are extra "dog towels" next to the front door to wipe off muddy feet and coats, in addition to bins to put your shoes when you come in. This helps keep the home cleaner and tidy for your stay. We would like to keep offering the home as pet friendly, so we ask that you monitor your pet at all times when in the home, and if they are going to be left alone they should be in a crate. Owners will be responsible for damages done to the home or belongings by their pets. We do have wire kennels available in the home for your use during your stay, along with some dog beds and bowls for food and water.

Please use the hot tub in moderation, for no more than 15 minutes at time and never above 103 degrees. Please ask your medical professional if hot tub use is advisable. Do not allow pets of any kind in the hot tub and do not add chemicals to the hot tub ever, as this is a salt water hot tub. Please place the cover back on the hot tub when not in use - make sure to snap the lid closed on the front - and when you check out make sure it is securely fastened.

If using the hot tub please unsnap the two buckles that secure the lid. Pick up the first half of the lid by the handle only and fold it over onto the other half. Then tip up the cover so it is now opposite to the controls and standing vertically. We have an easy open cover arm system installed which will do most of the work.

Please do not eat or drink in the hot tub or attempt to perform any maintenance on the tub. If you have any questions about it’s operation please reach out to us. Periodically you may hear it kick on as this is the motor circulating and maintaining the temperature. Do not leave the cover off the hot tub when not in use. Guests are responsible for any damages done to the hot tub.

Lastly - we ask you do not allow pets to pee on the side of the hot tub. We want to keep this a pet friendly property but if this happens we will change the property to not allow pets to preserve the hot tub and other aspects of the home.

There is a Ring camera system outside the home that shows only the exterior of the home including the driveway and the back of the home looking up the hill.

We do allow pets with a maximum of 2 dogs per reservation. Please keep dogs off furniture, include sofa, chairs, beds and outdoor balcony furniture. We would like to keep this home dog friendly and ask guests with dogs be respectful of the home and property to continue to allow this benefit to families who wish to travel with a pet. If there is evidence of a pet on a bed or furniture a deep cleaning fee will be charged. We have had problems with guests letting dogs on the beds and damaging the bed linens. We even had a dog pee on a mattress - causing us to replace the entire mattress and box springs underneath. We kindly ask that you bring appropriate bedding for you dog and they not be allowed in bed. We do not allow cats or birds in this home.

This property is in a rural area and not fenced in. If you are bringing dogs please make sure they will stick with you or walk them on a leash for their safety. The neighbors do have dogs which you can hear on occasion barking in the distance. Take extra care in walking the hilly trails on the property, some are on steep terrain.

We do have an inclined gravel driveway. It is approximately 300 feet long. Put your vehicle into low and head up the driveway slowly. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. We will try out best to work around the weather and reschedule guests as needed due to weather concerns especially in the winter. We do not have EV car charging stations at the home, but do charge a $25 per day per vehicle fee if a guest would like to plug in their EV during their stay. Guests are required to bring all the required items to charge their vehicle such as extension cords, converters and batteries. We will send a request over at the day of check in, just let us know how many vehicles you will be charging.

We do not allow smoking of any kind inside the home. This is our personal home so we ask that you either do not book the home if you are a smoker or refrain from smoking while staying. An additional cleaning fee will be assessed to treat the home for smoke smell remediation and replacement of any soft surface items or filters that retain the smoke smell.

We were looking for a comfy place to stay. Away from the sounds and smells of traffic and neighbors. But neighboring dogs barked non stop. It spoiled the peace we were seeking. The hosts were easy to work with. We left the house in great shape and look forward to receiving our deposit back soon

Perfect quiet and secluded Lexington home

We had a wonderful getaway at Deer Ridge. What a comfortable snd impeccably clean home! Highlights were morning coffee on the screened porch, evenings by the fire pit, and relaxing in the hot tub. Alex is a star host whose hospitality made our stay memorable.

Peaceful getaway

The host was extremely responsive and very helpful with all questions prior to our arrival. Check in was easy with keyless access using a code provided and the space was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we would have needed, even some spices left by prior guests. The views from the screened in porch during a thunder storm were wonderful and the hot tub was very clean and great to have. We hiked around Natural Bridge one day then drove to Smith Mountain Lake the next which is a beautiful 1.5hr drive away through the country. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, well outfitted location

My wife and I went to the Lexington area to enjoy the local beauty, the City, winter hiking, and some other attractions. The owners were extremely communicative, and kept us updated about recent snows, road conditions, etc.We really enjoyed the well outfitted house along with the hot tub. They were great to come back to after being out for the day. The house is about 20 minutes from the local grocery store so that was convenient. The kitchen is well out fitted with appliances, cookware, and dishes. There is seating at a central high top table in the kitchen.I can't say enough about the owner's responsiveness to questions. They even gave us heads up on incoming snow so we were able to take that into account when we left.If you are visiting in the winter, you will need a 4WD, snow tires, and/or snow chains to get up the gravel drive if it can't be plowed. It's not a negative. You just need to know.Added extra bonus. We had deer visit a few days, and there was evidence black beer crossed the property at some point after the last snow.Great property. Great local. Easy accessibility to sites and outdoor activities in the area.

Wonderful Stay

It had everything we could have needed. It is very secluded, so be ready to drive out into the woods and the mountains. Only downside is there are a lot of stairs to get up into the house. Otherwise, the place was very clean, all items needed were there, and the hot tub was a nice feature. Thanks for the great stay

Quiet and Clean

The property is clearly updated on the inside. The cleanliness is top notch. It’s a little far (30 minutes) to restaurants and attractions along very winding roads, but if you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of life this is the place. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Fantastic Secluded Getaway

The property was totally "as advertised," with all the amenities listed. The hot tub is a great add-on and the outdoor firepit is perfect if it's not too hot. It's great for roasting hot dogs and/or s'mores. There were plenty of pots, pans and utensils to do just about any type of cooking you want . . . even a nice griddle. Alex, the host was incredibly communicative throughout the visit and very thoughtful and helpful in quickly resolving any issue or question I had. If you want a really quiet, remote "getaway," this is it. With that, however, you're about 25 minutes from town, including groceries, supplies, gas . . . etc. Not a big deal, but just plan for it. It's close to Natural Bridge State Park and hiking at that Park or even along the Maury River is quiet and enjoyable. There are several wineries close (within 25 minutes) that also offer a different vibe than might normally expect with a trip/venue like this.

Great location for AT Hiking

Place was very clean and bed was comfortable. Nice outdoor porch area that we heard thunder and saw lightning and watched a heavy downpour of rain. All very nice and relaxing. House was a base from which we hiked several sections of the Appalachian Trail. Well-located to many entrances and exits to the trail. Wifi was very good and we were able to get good cell coverage at the house (Verizon). All in all a very comfortable stay.

Perfectly Quiet Getaway

We had a wonderful time in rural Lexington VA. Excellent location to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature but also close to local attractions and restaurants. We had a fun filled family (four-paw family as well) week of hiking at The Natural Bridge State Park, and Robertson Lake, tubing down the James River in Buchanan, ziplining in Floyd, exploring the Caverns at Natural Bridge, and the Ghost Tour of Lexington. All are dog-friendly activities. The patios of Devils Backbone and Heliotrope are very dog friendly restaurants. Lexington offers really good restaurants and shopping. We loved driving back to the house to relax in the hot tub and around the campfire with s'mores.

Wow, what a hidden gem!! It's a great location with many trees and an awesome place to unwind. The house is super clean and spacious. So easy to hang out in the kitchen that flows right into the family room. The outside 2nd floor large balcony was a great space to end the night. Active duty military family that love this property and feel that it can bring joy and relaxation for other people. While we are not stationed in the area, it would be nice to know that other people are creating memories with their friends and family. We are pet parents to 3 dogs. We routinely volunteer for various nonprofits - including fostering orphan kittens and medically needy dogs. We aren't a corporation, but a family hoping to keep their home until we retire from military life so we can go home permanently. Until then, we hope others enjoy the isolation and natural surroundings the home has to offer.

Why they chose this property

The drive out to the property is like a trip through a calendar of mountain towns. You will follow the various creeks and rivers, passing historic barns and homes, in addition to several working family farms. The home itself is on 8 acres of woods, with trails on the property to take quiet walks, go birding, or let the dogs run around on a walk. The hot tub welcomes you to just sit down and relax, unwind, and unplug from the technology and stress of normal life. Reconnect with loved ones, whether friends or family, and just live in the moment. The hardest decision to make out here is should you sit on the porch and watch the birds, or go read at the outdoor fire pit and get some sun. We provide a variety of coffee flavors, teas, hot chocolates and ciders for the Keurig. Everyone needs their caffeine in the morning! Lots of throw pillows and blankets so if you want to snuggle up and cocoon yourself in comfort, this is the place to do it! We have cornhole for guest use as well, so start a friendly tournament of cornhole!

What makes this property unique

We have a salt water hot tub on the property with a lounger that allows for a full body massage. This property is quiet and a great place to relax. It has DSL wireless internet that does work for Zoom calls, along with a desk and work space if you want to remote work from the mountains.
Life is so busy and bustling these days, why not slow down and relax for a bit?

We are close to the Virginia Safari park ( a drive through zoo!) in addition to Natural Bridge State Park. There are also several local wineries to tour and do a wine tasting. Relax by the fire in the fire pit, Make some smores with your family and friends. Both bedrooms have a California King bed, and there is a sleeper sofa that pulls out to be a full bed in the livingroom as well.

The livingroom has a 55 inch flat screen TV in addition to an electric fireplace with various temperature settings and 7 different flame color options, all controlled by the remote from the comfort of the couch.

The salt water hot tub makes relaxing easy! Life is simpler and slower out here, and you will feel rejuvenated after spending time playing family games, putting together a puzzle, reading on the front porch, or just relaxing in the hot tub. Reflect on everything you are grateful for while sipping coffee watching the sunrise. Have some adventures by trying out new places to hike or take in the scenic vistas from the Blue Ridge Parkway just 22 miles from the house. Watch deer throughout the day graze on the grass or nibble away at bushes and trees. We have seen wild turkey, foxes, racoons and groundhogs on the property, and even bear tracks! We have modern amenities like satellite TV and you can stream your favorite movies and shows, but you may not even want to watch TV out here!
