We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bungalow. The property was exactly as advertised and more. Perfect accommodations for a double family, we’ll be booking again in the future.
This house is very well taken care of. You can walk to multiple restaurants and the beach within 5 minutes. I would stay here again for the convenience alone.
My family loved our stay! The location was perfect for an easy walk to the beach and to the Duck village. Bikes are definitely the way to get around. The house had everything we needed for our stay. The pool was great and the outdoor shower was perfect for when you get back from the beach. Cleanliness of the house was really good, but I would recommend a different style rug throughout the house as the current type is very messy for socks, blankets, anything that may touch them. Would certainly stay again when we return to the OBX.
We loved this bungalow! It was perfect for our family - cozy and sweet. The house was clean, kitchen was stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal. We loved all of the outdoor seating options on the deck and especially the pool area - the pool was clean and we loved the setup with the chairs and picnic tables - plenty of room for everyone. The owner was super responsive and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again!
The location was perfect for our family! We walked everywhere! This was our first stay in Duck. We didn’t realize how busy/crowded the beaches are in Duck. The beach chairs and wagon saved us with the walk to the beach! The pool was a perfect place to cool off.
The portable vacuums on each floor were perfect for sand. I wished there were some cleaning products for spot checks in kitchen. We went to the store.
The large, black ants were bad. There were many crawling on the floor, wall or ceiling throughout our stay. Although the place was very clean, I think it’s just part of the experience of being surrounded by beautiful, big trees providing shade and privacy!
This house was great for a small group of 4. The location to the shopping and restaurants in Duck is great. We rented a golf cart to haul our things to the beach which was really helpful. If is a bit of a walk which might be a pain with a cooler, tent etc. the beach is great with a life guard right at the access point.
Overall the house was great for us. The downsides are that the spiral staircase makes carrying things up and down a bit challenging, but you can use the outside stairs for larger items. The pool and the chairs in the main floor were a bit worn and could be refreshed. The doors to the king bedroom which is on the ground floor stick and make a very loud noise when opened and closed. Not ideal if you are trying to sleep and your partner is an early riser.
The place was great as always. The addition of access to washer and dryer is a plus. Communication with the owner was very easy. We really enjoy staying at Seaside Bungalow in Duck, and will definitely stay there again. Highly recommend.
Perfect location in duck for our family we loved being so close to the sound board walk and being on the ocean side of the road. Owner was super helpful with responding helping us navigate where to find parks and paths as this was our first time in duck. House was clean and beautiful. Kids loved shuffleboard!
We had a wonderful stay in Duck! The house was adorable. Plenty of room for all of us. The beach was a little further walk than we expected but it didn’t change our plans at all. Carol was very responsive and was already handling an issue before we checked in. She was great!
Very nice place in a good location in Duck. House was clean and as advertised. Property manager was responsive and very friendly. I would stay here again, but there is one thing to note.
Distance to beach is quite a walk in the heat or with chairs/coolers. I would not recommend for older adults or anyone with disabilities. This was not a problem for us since we rented a golf cart for the week, but without that, it would have been a struggle. There is limited parking available at the beach entrance, so it is possible to load and unload if you get there early enough. Highly recommend renting a golf cart for this and to cruise around the town and sight see the Duck community.
That said, I was very happy with the host and rental. We would definitely stay here again. 4 stars.
We loved this property and location; the pool area was our favorite especially for a rainy day when not on the beach, perfect for lounging & outdoor eating. The house is laid out nicely, cozy yet felt roomy. Loved the kitchen, which was well equipped and, as the hub of activity, set up well. Downstairs entertainment area was great. Bit of a walk to the ocean but we rented a golf cart which I recommend if making multiple daily trips with beach supplies, plus a blast for shopping and errands in Duck; we never used our vehicles. The outdoor shower was wonderful, we hardly used the bathroom showers. Our hostess was amazing to deal with, all in all we had a lovely week.
We had a perfect week with our group of 7 (moms and daughters)! Carol was an amazing host! We were her first renters of the season and she went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed in the house. We rented bikes for the week from Duck Cycle (highly recommended) and biked everywhere! The girls (ages 12-14) were able to explore the town on their own as the bike path makes it very safe for riding! The house had the perfect layout for our group. The girls enjoyed having their own space downstairs. Carol's hospitality was much appreciated. She offered great recommendations to her favorite local restaurants. Be sure to check out Coastal Cravings (behind the BP gas station)! Their food was awesome and there's a beer garden out back with yard games and live music in the evenings). We look forward to our next visit to Duck!
We really enjoyed this house and it far exceeded our expectations. This cottage is nestled in the live oaks and gives you the sense of privacy. We spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying the decks, pool, seating areas, and the outdoor shower. The pool stayed half shaded for most of the day keeping the water cool and refreshing. The use of the exterior spaces has been well thought out and made this house most pleasurable. The kitchen was well equipped and the cabinetry and appliances have been recently upgraded making good use of the available space. This is a smaller, older cottage and not to be confused with a mega house. We were a group of 5 adults and a toddler, the living space was fine for us and not cramped. Its apparent that the owner has made many sensible upgrades to this house and I’m certain there will be more to come. With all that being said, I do recommend this house and we would rent it again.
The cottage is located in a very nice section of Duck and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, etc. The private beach access is at the end of the road which is also an easy walk, and has parking for about 6 cars and a golf cart. There is a set of stairs up and down leading to the beach for those that have beach carts. It's a two person job to transverse the steps with a load. The house with pool was clean and well laid out for our family. Evening breezes from the 2nd floor deck were enjoyed by all.
We even saw the neighborhood deer behind the property. My complaint and my fault was not reading the listing close enough. No washer/dryer. Other than that, your family will have a great time.

Disappointed
House was way smaller than expected, spiral staircase was unusually small as well.
Not too big of an issue. The area is no where near as quaint and private as described, all of the houses are very close together and the street it’s off of is so busy, especially to walk on with kids. The bathrooms were dirty, downstairs bathroom shower not even usable..basically like an open spurting hose with no handle, floor peeling up in basement, had to vacuum up the couches.. they were filled with crumbs, grill unusable..vines growing throughout and spiders, it was old and needs replacing as well as awkwardly placed to where no one would want to even use it.
*Biggest issue for me was the spiders and ear wigs in the basement, after unpacking completely we realized there was a spider or ear wig on the floor in the bedroom, bathroom, or recreation area at least twice a day..eventually my husband and I had to gather all our belongings to move upstairs and have my eldest son stay downstairs with the bugs. And we could not hang out down there at all.
Finally, the worst part of this trip was I asked the owner the size of the pool before booking, she wasn’t sure so she had her pool people check.. they were mistaken of the size..two of my sons are 6’3, we could not swim in this pool due to it being too small. This was a detriment to the trip, as I made sure to book a house with a pool for a reason.. sure enough the beach was closed every day due to dangerous riptides.. on top of this we told the owner the pool was dirty at the beginning of our stay, the pool people were supposed to come clean and check it like anywhere else you’d stay that has a pool..and no one came once…even after I notified the owner. My 4 year old ended up with a UTI.. we spent an entire day of vacation at the urgent care.. the doctor suggested that the dirty pool was more than likely the culprit. UTI’s are not normal for boys his age and he’s never had an issue and hasn’t since..he was put on antibiotics.
Owner notified of issues at first and said they’d be addressed..when I notified her of issues further into the stay, she stopped responding.
All in all our vacation was ruined. We really don’t have an income to be going anywhere but because I was pregnant at the time decided to go on one last trip with the kids, and decided to just put the trip on credit, now we continue to pay off this disappointment of a trip, when we would’ve been better off going nowhere.
Kitchen was nice.
Communication with property owner was excellent! The house is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood. Easy walk to the. Beach or to shops in Duck. Great little pool, perfect for a dip after a day at the beach. New furniture Igor lower level was delivered on Wednesday and the caretaker was great, and oversaw the movers.
We would definitely recommend this place to friends and would stay here again.
Private, Serene setting within walking distance to the Beach.
Great location. Home came with a fully equipped kitchen, two lounge areas for different age groups. A private pool and outdoor shower add to this quaint home. Ideal spot to shop, dine out or just hang by the beach.
The home was clean, the check-in process was so easy and our girls loved the private pool. My family had a fabulous stay and we look forward to future visits!
The home was in a convenient location—10 min walk from beach (doable with kids from 4-10 yr old) & able to bike to downtown Duck for park, boardwalk & restaurants. Beach chairs & sand toys were a nice touch, as well as the outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach. Pool was nice for kids to relax in after a day at the beach. Plenty of space for the eight of us in our family, with the downstairs play room & foosball table being great for the kids. Carol was easy to communicate with during our stay.
