About this property

Rustic Cabin with Access to Lake Granby - Come Relax & enjoy Grand county!

Our rustic cabin is 3 BR/1BA on a quarter acre lot in a quiet neighborhood. Lake access is about 500 ft down the road via deeded neighborhood walkway. Note that you can catch a glimpse of the lake from the driveway, but the cabin does not have direct lake views.

Our 1957 cabin has lots of character and charm along with many updates to provide common conveniences. Hardwood floors in bedrooms and main living, beetle kill tung and groove and bead board on the walls, recently updated wood burning fireplace, and new appliances.

Furnished to include master bedroom with king bed and 43" smart tv, second bedroom with king bed and 32" tv, third bedroom with full over full bunk and daybed and 32" smart tv. Recently updated eat in kitchen with gas stove, convection microwave, new full size fridge and new dishwasher. Oversized washer and dryer provide convenience.

Cabin has gas heat, wood burning fireplace, and excellent high speed internet along with smart TVs to enable streaming. Cabin does not have AC, with grand county's temperate summers, we have not found it to be needed.

Our lake access is from a smaller protected cove that is great for paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking or just splashing in the water and playing in the sand. While we do not have a dock, you can use the forest service boat access that is just a mile away and can get a shallow boat or jet skis into the cove.

Neighborhood is mostly full timers that can be eclectic, we consider that part of the character of our cabin. We ask that you respect our neighbors including the wildlife - we have spotted bears and moose and deer in our yard.

Exterior cameras are present - we do use them to keep an eye on wildlife as well as unauthorized visitors.

Much of the shore of Lake Granby is part of Arapaho National Forrest, please remember to comply with all federal and state rules regarding fishing, hunting, boating, etc including appropriate licensing.

We generally offer the cabin up as a seasonal long term rental for Late Fall through Winter - please let us know if this is something you might be interested in - Lake Granby has excellent ice fishing and snowmobile trails are nearby.

If the dates you are interested are partially available, please let us know - we do set aside a number of days for our own personal use, and sometimes we have flexibility to shift that just a bit. Also, if you have a pup that might enjoy the lake, please reach out, we do sometimes make exceptions to allow a well behaved dog.

I was impressed with all the games and water crafts available to use! It rained a lot so the game room was perfect for our stay! We want to go back!

Close to everything
While not directly on the lake, it was a very short walk away to the public beach area where we only saw one other person on that beach the whole week we were there (July 4th week). The location is close to trendy and traditional tourist downtowns. If you are looking for a solid home base for your Rocky Mountain stay with some of Colorado's largest lakes and mountain views nearby, this is a solid bet.

Awesome Cabin!
This is an awesome place to stay in Grand Lake! The owners really love the place and it shows! Has everything you could possibly want or need! We had two families with small children and they had some fun games and toys, a pack and play and a great kids room. So fun to be able to paddle board and hike in the mountains. If we come back to Grand Lake we would definitely stay here again. The owners where great and very responsive and transparent. Stay here if you get the chance!!

Wonderful Vacation Rental
This was the most vacation ready rental we have ever stayed at. Not only was it well stocked with the essentials. It had so many extras you definitely would not normally have with most rentals. The outbuilding with all the stuff for being out on the water was a very nice addition to our vacation. Plus the outbuilding had a gaming room set up that was a really nice touch. Kids even enjoyed playing the Nintendo NES with us. The view from the lake was amazing and was a very short walk from the house. The sunroom was a perfect reading spot when it was raining. The sunroom has tons of board games. It’s a short drive to different small towns. The hosts were really great and easy to work with. They give very detailed information before your vacation and are very easy to get in touch with them. Overall this has been the best vacation rental we’ve ever stayed in and the best hosts we’ve ever worked with.

Wonderful cabin and fun location
My family had a great time in this cabin. The kayaks were fun to use. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment, even a slow cooker which I used to make beef stew for after a full day exploring RMNP. It was a quiet location and the cabin has lots of room to spread out and relax.

Quiet, relaxing - exactly what we were looking for
We wanted a quiet place to relax for a week and this was the perfect place. We were able to enjoy the lake with paddle boards and kayaks provided by the host family. It rained one entire day we were there but the games at the house provided a full day of entertainment. The host was very easy to communicate with. Would definitely try to stay here again if we get the chance.

Great stay
Cozy and lovely. Easy access to Lake Granby and Grand Lake. Love the king size beds and the kids bedroom. Interior decor is quite unique representing a perfect theme for vacation. Plenty of household supplies. The sunroom is a highlight. It would be great if there were two bathrooms.

A PERFECT family home & getaway!!!!
This house is perfect and has EVERYTHING you couldfurniture, and more! The cabin has: a fenced yard, nice patio furnature, extremely comfortable beds, lake access, stainless steel appliances, leather sectional, fireplace, outside firepit, super fast wifi, Roku TVs, ront loading washer & dryer, kids games and room, adult & kids kayaks, life jackets, and updated USB plug-ins in each bedroom!! The owners are so kind and have EXCELLENT communication as well! They have literally thought of everything for this one and we are so fortunate and lucky that we were able to share their cabin with us. The cabin is also easy to find and access. It is only about a 15 minute drive to Grand Lake and the West entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. We enjoyed a week pass to the park and went to see the beautiful park several evenings just as all of the Moose and Elk were grazing. Our family had so many fun experiences here and we are already planning our next trip and stay at the cabin! It literally felt like home with a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains.

We have 4 kids and get outside to enjoy the great Colorado outdoors every chance we get. From skiing to hiking to paddle boarding and kayaking, it is hard to pick a favorite activity.

We also have Vrbo #370991 in Breckenridge - a 2BR/2BA condo in the Village.

Why they chose this property

For years we have talked about what it would be like to have a lake cabin, I grew up going to my grandparents cabin in Northern Minnesota and all 4 of our kids love water, as does our pup YETI.

Colorado isn't exactly the land of 10,000 lakes. The lakes that are here are few and far between. But those that are in Colorado are often spectacularly surrounded by mountains and Lake Granby is no exception..

When we found Antler Outpost, we knew that it was the perfect place for our family, Colorado rustic with some charm.

And in case you are wondering why we decided to call our cabin Antler Outpost - the set of antlers above the door were owned by the original owner of the cabin. An outpost can be defined as a small encampment a short distance from the main post. We feel that Antler Outpost is the perfect way to honor the history of the cabin and also describe the location as being a short distance from both Grand Lake and Granby.

What makes this property unique

While sweeping views of the lake are great they don't always come with actual access to the water, which is what we really wanted. We fell in love with this cabin about 500 ft from the shore of Lake Granby with an access to the lake that we share with our neighbors. The cove is quiet and protected and perfect for paddle boards, kayaks, canoes and swimming. The neighborhood is a bit eclectic, our cabin was the original home built in 1957.

While the cabin had lots of rustic charm, we updated appliances and finishes to make sure modern conveniences like a dishwasher are available to make time at the lake even more relaxing.
