The lovely cottage was used for auxiliary housing for a large family reunion on Cobb Island. The location is perfect, and view superb. Everything was clean and ready for our stay.

Charming place for a getaway weekend
The cottage is a quick drive from DC and the perfect place to get away from it all. It’s clean, well-maintained, and there are lots of spaces to read, write, relax, and sit and enjoy the views. I wish I could have stayed longer and will definitely be going back!
It was a great place to relax with an amazing view of the water. All the comforts of home. It was the perfect place to get away from it all. We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the birds and enjoyed a nice bike ride around the island.
Rented this property for two nights for a short trip to Maryland. 4 adults, we had plenty of room to rest and relax. Clean, quiet and a beautiful view of the water with a couple of crab houses/seafood restaurants nearby. Would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.
Loved the property and the views! The owners were even kind enough to help us access a trap to go grabbing (which we did off the private dock!) The house was so charming and well maintained. We will definitely be back!

Lovely Home!
We had a fantastic time here! Lots of fun things to do such as biking and swimming. Had an absolutely wonderful weekend and will definitely come back! Thank you for everything!
Our stay at Cranberry Cottage was very peaceful and relaxing. The house was charming and comfortable. The views were beautiful and the screened porch was our favorite spot. The owner was very helpful and responsive to any issues that arose. It was just as advertised, with the amenities as described and the views as gorgeous as we had hoped.
Clean and comfortable. The water was so lovely! Our two boys loved fishing from the dock and riding bikes around the island. The owners were friendly and accommodating. Our youngest was crying when we had to go home he liked it so much! We would definitely stay here again.

Thanksgiving getaway
I love this area! It's beautiful, people are very nice. My son and I were able to spend a great holiday together. Did some biking around the neighborhood, board games, movies, and football, not to mention making steaks on the grill. We absolutely will be back in the future!

The cottage was perfect for a quick visit with my Navy Sailor. Quality time for mom and son. The fishing off the dock was so much fun. Thank you
This is our second stay in Waverly Cottage, and we hope to continue coming back. The house is well-supplied, organized & clean. The water view from the sunroom is peaceful, and the beds and couches are cozy. Very comfortable little home. Thanks again!

Relaxing time
My wife and I took our 1.5 month old baby for a short weekend getaway to relax as we dont have any time for a vacation this year. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and relaxing with some great views of the river. Here is a short Film i made of our stay.

Cobb Island is a very small, quiet town on the water - my family loves the peacefulness- but not for everyone.
We have a boat, so only 20min ride across the bay is bustling Colonial Beach - two different worlds in your backyard.
Super cute cottage , easy ckin/out, responsive owner made it a perfect long wkend!
The cottage was exactly as pictured. Great sunroom for enjoying the changing evening sky and watching the boats and blue herons. Very comfortable beds and furnishings. Large yard in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect set up for four people. Very relaxing weekend getaway. Easy walk to waterfront restaurants across the bridge.
About 45 minute ride to Docksides in Colonial Beach. Easy day trip to enjoy fish and chips at picnic tables along the Potomac.
Property manager was very responsive to inquiries about bikes and coffee maker (drip style). Very walkable island.
Perfect location for a weekend getaway.
Waverly Cottage is gorgeous! The views over the water are stunning and the cottage itself is beautifully decorated, well appointed and spotless. The owner communication was great and the check-in process was super easy.
We came for my husband’s 60th birthday and he was pretty excited to catch both a crab and catfish right off the private dock!
It was very quiet and peaceful. We spent a lot of our time on the porch which has amazing picture windows that allow you to spend hours watching the water on comfy furniture.
Cobb Island is a pretty community to explore with restaurants offering high quality local seafood.
I would highly recommend. We’ll be back!

Quiet river cottage on a peaceful island
We have stayed here 7 times - we love it! Comes with a dock, fishing gear, crab pots, bicycles, barbecue grill and peace and quiet. (Well, you may occasionally hear a boom on weekday mornings from the Dahlgren Weapons Testing Center about 20 miles away. And you may hear music from Shymansky's Restaurant on Saturday evening.) One bedroom, one bathroom - sleeps 2 comfortably, plus 2 more on a hide-a-bed sofa. Beautifully decorated and the kitchen is well equipped. Lots to see and do in the area - especially if you have a boat. 75 minutes from the Washington, DC Beltway. The perfect DC weekend getaway. If you need a slightly larger cottage, rent Waverly Cottage next door.

A wonderful waterside retreat for the Labor Day Holiday
My husband and I needed a quiet retreat to step away from our hectic professional pace, and we certainly found it at The Cranberry Cottage! We had perfect weather from the moment we crossed the bridge onto Cobb Island. The Cottage is adorable, roomy with indoor and outdoor living space, and perfect access to the water. Super cozy! We enjoyed a lunch and dinner at Captain John's Seafood Restaurant, and a breakfast at the Cover - all were delicious. We biked around the island, my husband fished off the dock, I floated on a raft, and the kind and generous neighbors took us on a boat ride around the island. We would definitely return, as we miss sitting on the dock looking up at the stars and Milky Way as we listened to the lap of the water and crickets calling. I do recommend grocery shopping at the Safeway in La Plata before you come, and bringing a hair dryer, and your own sea kayak as the rivers are perfect for that relaxing sport.

Waverly Cottage exceeded our expectations!
Waverly Cottage on Cobb Island not only met but exceeded our expectations.
The property was pristine and right on the water overlooking the beautiful Neale Sound. The updated bedrooms, kitchen and living space was exactly what we were looking for, and made for a great time with family cooking and sitting around the dinner table laughing and enjoying each other's company.
The porch was also a great point of enjoyment, as we sat out and cooked on the grill, and listened to the unabated silence of the island and water at night. In the mornings and evenings you could clearly hear the resident Loons of the area, which was incredibly peaceful and gave our family the peace and tranquility away from the City we were looking for.
Cobb Island itself was also great. We bought steaks and other items from the Cobb Island Market, and enjoyed appetizers and drinks at the local restaurants. We also played golf at the Swan Point Gold Club which is a stones throw from the island. Needless to say there is plenty to do and enjoy on the island.
Although the weather was cold, the view out over the water was wonderful to wake up to everyday, and we are planning to come back during the summer months to rent, and hopefully bring friends to utilize both Waverly and Cranberry Cottages which are next to each other.
I would highly recommend Waverly cottage to others looking to get away from it all and enjoy time with friends and family in this beautiful waterfront cottage.
