We spent three nights here over the Thanksgiving holiday. Cozy cabin space with fireplace. The period decor was great--right out of the 1950's but clean and well-maintained. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful--we hit some local hills for early season sledding and they set us up with sleds and helmets. We will be back!

Labor Day 2023 get away
Property could use a new couch. The leather was literally falling apart. Parking was a little tight because apparently the complex has been undergoing construction, also the pool and spa were drained.
The description had pool and hot tub. Once arriving on the envelope which had keys stated sorry no pool or hot tub. I purposefully book places for my kids with a pool and a hot tub for my mother since she has cronic pain. Also while showering the entire large head of shower fell on me.
VERY ran down . Rustic is a major understatement . It should not be called a resort . Grandfathered property that does not meet proper safety standards . Many shanties with tarps causing it to look like a homeless encampment.
Nice atmosphere because it’s in Tahoe . Wasn’t the most uncomfortable bed. You can tell this place used to be awesome but unfortunately it’s massively misrepresented in the listing . Pool has been closed for years, no market as stated, no cable as stated, no Internet that actually worked.. obviously won’t be back.
We all know that having that personal touch is the true way to run a resort. That's why this family-run spot is perfect for couples to large groups. It's close to everything you want to do in South Lake and way more reasonable than most lodgings in the area. Can't wait to get back!

Get What You Pay For
Well I'll start with communication is good. Answer messages quickly and the after hour key pick up was a nice touch. Also the TV was nice, there was a smaller one next to it on the shelf, not sure why. And the fireplace was great, you need to bring your own wood though.
Now onto the stay:
The sheets were stained and had hair on two out of the three beds. The carpet was not cleaned well, I brought out the vacuum and decided to clean up myself. I decided to sleep on the futon, since my friend would be sleeping in the bedroom and the other twin bed sheets in the master were stained. I did bring my own sheet and laid it across the futon. Come to find out the metal bars were so obtrusive there was no possible way to sleep on this. I decided to try out the twin bed in the living room, I could feel every spring. So for three nights I did not get any sleep. The second and third night sadly I broke out in a horrible rash. I do not have food allergies and brought food from home. I am allergic to cats or dander and we were in a pet friendly unit. I did bring my pup, but something was not right. I had to rush out and get medicine well trying to decide to goto the clinic or not, at this point maybe home. You can't take a shower back to back due to the hot water possibly running out, something along those lines and if it does happen you will be paying to have someone come out and look at the heater. The parking lot has a lot of clutter, extra cars under tents. Someone living in an RV I think. Walls are thin, you can hear the conversations above you.
The drive to the lifts is not far not close, California or NV side, so be prepared to drive at least 12 to 20 minutes depending on traffic ESPECIALLY on Saturday. Drive slow, cops surround the road Pine Cone is on, you speed you will get pulled over.
I really wanted to enjoy my vacation being that I only get two a year but it just missed the mark. I will not stay here again due to what happened, since I cleaned up myself and had my own sheets I did not call the main desk. I'm not searching for compensation.

Tahoe Typical
If you are looking for a nice, high end place, then the Pine Cone Resort is not your jam. If you are looking for a place that is tired, well used, not very expensive, kinda close to the lake, a place to hang your hat while you go ride the mountain, that has pictures of wolves, bears & eagles over wood paneling, & an actual guy living in a van in the parking lot", then this place is for you. The big + for us was that they do accept pets & have "Kitchenettes". The hot tub is an understatement. I think they keep it at 145 degrees. Our room had a fireplace, which was nice. The TV was HUGE. And, it was an overall descent experience. But I am a guy & my needs are few. I am sure my wife's review would be entirely different. The dogs liked it though! So........

Relaxing stay close to lots of activities
We arrived after check in around 9pm and followed the goofy yet intriguing instructions to receive the keys. The owner was actually awake and helped us get unloaded and showed us around the cabin. The dog friendly cabins have a dog door from the bedroom to an outdoors dog run- so cool! Our family really enjoyed the surrounding areas activities. We will definitely be back!

Quaint, charming, relaxing stay
Pine Cone Resort is a little gem tucked into the trees. The unit had everything we needed for a relaxed, comfortable vacation. Robert Taylor, the owner, was gracious and took care of our every need. The office staff is so friendly and helpful. The property is lovely and we had a wonderful time. Thank you, Robert, and everyone at Pine Cone Resort for making our Lake Tahoe vacation memorable forever! :-)

Great place for the right price
Was just what I needed, it’s like a cabin feel kinda, had a lil kitchen with all the cooking supply’s (no condiments or anything make sure you bring salt pepper ect) huge tv. And the price was great, it was dumping snow the whole time. The place had a good heater too. Only downside was the bed wast too great, it really could use a new one.
All in all I would definitely go back.

Good location. The property needs a serious upgrade.
It smells of old carpet. Furnitures and appliances are really old. Dead spiders were found in the bed. The size is more suited for 2 people. With 4 people, there is not a lot of moving space.

Needed cleaning and new furniture
I get that dog friendly places are not going to be 5 star, but this place needed a deep cleaning. Carpet was stained, pet hair on sheets and couches. Had not been dusted recently as there were cob webs. I found the vacuum and cleaned a bit myself after we arrived. Could be great if they updated and cleaned!!
