The lagoon house was great. We loved the porch! Proximity to the lagoon was very nice. I paddle boarded every morning It was very hot so the AC couldn’t keep up. The backyard was really nice. Very large table out there could accommodate everyone.

Cute MV Cape with mixed Experiences
We (a family of six - 3 adults/3 kids) stayed at this property in late June. Our overall experience was mixed, leading us to give it three stars. Pros: - Check-In Process and Communication: The check-in process was smooth, and the communication with the owner was excellent. We appreciated their kindness in allowing us to check in early. - Proximity to Lagoon: The walk to the lagoon was short and the lagoon itself was pretty, providing a nice spot for relaxation. - Neighborhood: The neighborhood was pleasant and peaceful, adding to the overall experience. Cons: - Air Conditioning: The listing did not specify that the AC units were only in the bedrooms. The rest of the house was extremely hot, especially during the day, making it uncomfortable to stay indoors. This was particularly challenging with little ones. A Box Fan was provided but impractical to use as it was dirty/dusty. - Linen Concerns: While the place appeared very clean, we were concerned about the linen. We found hair on the pillows, which made us nervous that the pillowcases and blankets weren't properly washed. We ended up using our own pillowcases and sheets. The rest of the house seemed very well maintained. Overall, many positive aspects to our stay, the lack of adequate cooling and concerns about cleanliness of the linens significantly impacted our comfort.

Good and could be great
Overall, a very good stay. Nice house, responsive owner and excellent location. As a renter there are a couple of things I wish I had known, could have avoided or had given more thought. We arrived after a long day of travel and had to make our own beds. Not a big deal, but the reality is that I would have preferred to not have one more thing to do upon arrival. Right away we discovered a family of mice living in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. Again, another thing to deal with after a long travel day. Once we got the mice situation taken care of the rest of the stay was quite enjoyable. The owner was a bit peeved that we didn't water the outdoor flowers, but I will leave that for others to debate. If you plan on enjoying the beach, make arrangements for your own beach chairs. There are beach chairs provided but they were in poor condition. The only other watch out is for the living room sofa. I would suggest either repairing it or replacing it. Overall, for future renters I would suggest following up on these items : Make sure the mice situation is addressed and all access points they use to the house are closed Request info on the condition of the beach chairs or bring your own Request Repair or replacement of the living room sofa Request that all drains be checked and in good order. We had a good time at this property and hope you will too!

Great House and Location
We had a wonderful week at Deb's house. The house is cute and quirky, classic New England beach house. Great porch and yard. Even the teenagers loved it and asked if we could come back! It is very close to OB, teens could bike easily which helped. The location at the end of the street to the quiet lagoon beach was fantastic! Deb was very responsive and great to work with. We will definitely be back!

Wish we were still there!
Had such a nice time at Deb's place in Oak Bluffs. The house was very clean and really cute. We could not believe how close were were to the water, just a quick walk to a little beach that the neighborhood had access to. Great place to watch a sunset. Wishing we were still there! Deb was very responsive and kind. She remembered the small details about our visit. We didn't want to leave.

Colorful Cape Retreat
A cute and colorful cape that did the job for our stay ! The backyard was lovely and private had so many great features like porch, fire pit, hammock and a shed full of great beach activities. The king bed caused problems with my husbands back and the couch wasn’t super comfy. Overall a good stay !

Deborah is a wonderful owner to rent from.
Lagoon Heights is a lovely home to rent, located in a great spot close to both down town Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. We enjoyed taking our dogs to the nearby beach and kayaking. The home was spacious for our family and well appointed. Deborah could not have been a more responsive owner to rent from. .

Loved it!
Lovely cape house walking distance to private beach. Fully “stocked” with all you need to cook or dine out. Comfortable beds. The owner was wonderful to correspond with and thought of everything! Even batteries for the remote! If you love old charming beautifully decorated homes close to the beach this is the place. Our dogs even enjoyed the daily walks to the private beach and relaxing on the porch. Great place and wonderful family place.

Quaint and well located
We loved our time here but were disappointed to learn of many appliances that did not work - oven, microwave, ice maker. Also of last minute need to bring all linens and towels. While offered use of owners, it could not be confirmed they were clean. Seems like the cleaning fee would be adjusted when guests bring, set and take away to clean all linens. Deborah seemed lovely and we brought food in but renting a home is to allow for cooking together.

Perfect beach vacay
My fiancé and I stayed with our dog for a week and it worked out great. The property itself was close proximity to oak bluffs and Edgartown which made exploring and getting around easy. The house itself was what you’d imagine for a beach property and had a great yard for our dog to run, fire pit and a small beach at the end of the road. Being that it was covid we did have to bring our own linens and towels which I honestly preferred. We had a great week and look forward to our next visit to MV.

Disappointing experience
As a frequent traveler that has rented out private homes all over the world, this was the most disappointing experience I have ever had. I will say that the house is full of potential, and has some very charming elements like the back porch, but it is in a very poor state and it is clear that the owner has not been to the property in some time to monitor and improve the quality of the home and it's offerings. There were several issues with this house - the top one being the overall cleanliness. The house was dusty, dirty, and disorganized. Prior to our trip, the owner said that guests should bring their own linens "because the housekeeper doesn't do laundry." I found this to be unusual, especially at this price point, and think it should be clearly stated on the listing. Despite communicating with the owner prior to arrival to use linens in the house, our beds were not made upon check in and there was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms or at the kitchen sink. We were told to make our own beds, and the linen closet was extremely disorganized, so we had to go through all of the sheets to find the size that worked for each bed. The linens did not smell clean despite our being told that they were, so we washed everything before using it. There were decorative pillow cases and covers on the beds that did not seem to be clean (and who washed them, if the housekeeper won't?). Given COVID, this was very alarming. The listing notes a fully stocked kitchen, which it wasn't and was extremely disorganized (we ate on salad plates the entire time). We ended up washing all of the dishes before using them, as many did not seem clean and were dusty. There was also mold growing on the shower curtain in one of the bathrooms, cracked tiles in the shower that were covered with duct tape, and a tile caving in behind the sink. Finally, the owner asked if we would be okay with a potential renter coming to see the house during our stay. I stated that we were not comfortable with anyone coming inside, but that she could see the outside of the property. The potential renter came to the house the next day and seemed to have the expectation to see the inside of the house, and I stated that we were okay with her seeing the outside of the house (given COVID, that we were paying to occupy the space, etc.). I then got a nasty text message from the owner saying that she was upset that we did not let the renter in. This was not a nice experience.

Last minute vacay
Deborah’s home was a perfect spot for a long weekend for our family of 5, wish we could have stayed longer! The decor of the house was cheerful and welcoming, the breezeway was my favorite spot to relax. It was a quick walk down to the lagoon to see incredible sunsets and the central location made it easy to get wherever our adventures took us for the day. Would definitely love to stay here again - for longer!

A Little Bit of Chilmark in Oak Bluffs
Tucked away altho in a neighborhood close to town, the house is cheerful with colorful idiosyncratic decor. We loved the short walk to the Lagoon beach to look at hermit crabs and the longer walk to town for donuts and a seat on a bench by the Sound where we could have beached if we weren't so relaxed where we were. The breezy porch and the hammock are also great for reading and relaxing.

I loved this house!
This charming sunny house is beautiful inside and out. The grounds are meticulously maintained with many perennial floral plantings and mature trees providing welcome shade. 5 minute walk to salt water beach. Easy bike ride to Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. Owner has put a lot of love and care into this rental. All of us had a great time.

Home Away from Home
We were a family of 6 with our pet and Deborah's cottage revitalized us--ready for the school/college year. The whole cottage (including the outside), is very tastefully and thoughtfully decorated. We loved all the vibrant colors in every room. The outdoors has innumerable nooks to sit and chat and be lazy. My family (my mom, 2 sons--college & HS), my sister, husband all fell in love with it. The very convenient location makes it very user friendly. The outdoor grill and picnic table added another dimension for the perfect getaway. Deborah is always available to her renters and the whole process (which started from last year) was easy and we feel a warm connection with her. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this cottage to anyone....anytime!!!!!! LOVED IT!!!

Darling place
This house is adorable! With all of the bright colors and carefully chosen furnishings, it's got a very fun vibe. Whoever decorated the house has serious talent. It's got a great kitchen with an awesome stove and a nice large living room that's a great place to flop at the end of a long day at the beach. The beach is a very short distance from the house, but it's not very large, so I would recommend making the trek to one of the bigger beaches for swimming and lounging. What the small beach is good for however is clamming. It was my first time clamming and it was so much fun. Perhaps the owner can consider purchasing a clam rake for guests to use during their stay. I stayed the week prior to the guest who said the place needs an exterminator. Over the course of 1 week I saw--and killed-- one small spider. I should add that I am neurotic about all things creepy crawly so I definitely would have noticed a lot of spiders. Any talk of infestations is pure fiction. You want hermetically sealed, go vacation on the space shuttle-- this place is awesome.

Walk in the door, and it's so much more!
My husband, two adult sons, and I decided to take a long-overdue vacation as a family last summer, and we all agreed upon Martha’s Vineyard. I hadn’t been there in 30 years, so I was unfamiliar with what our lodging options would be. I came across the “Homeaway” site and was fortunate to find this property available for the week in July we were hoping for. The photo in the listing doesn’t do the house justice. Situated on a sizeable lot, the grey quaint- looking Cape belies the welcoming colorful and fanciful interior. From the moment we walked in, we all felt as if we were walking into a home, not just a house. Every room is painted a different vibrant color, and the furniture was clearly selected with care and good taste. The bright and festive décor immediately lifted our spirits and actually made us want to stay indoors more than we had thought we would. There was plenty of room for all of us to spread out and not feel as if we were on top of one another. The beds in all three bedrooms were comfortable, and we were pleased that there was a bathroom on each floor. Nice linens and warm blankets were provided. The fireplace in the living room lent a cozy feeling to the room. Even though we never actually made a fire, it was nice to know that we could have if we’d wanted to. The house is located on a quiet dead-end street, and there was a similarly quiet beach, albeit a bit small, just a short walking distance away. When we wanted to go to the larger South Beach, we just hopped into our car and drove there. We had the best of both worlds. There was no need for us to call the owner or property manager during our stay, as everything went smoothly. I didn’t use the dishwasher, because I’m accustomed to washing dishes by hand. The dishes, by the way, were as tastefully selected as the furniture. I would definitely return to this property and have already recommended it to friends.
