The Mountains are Calling at The Hummingbird Hideaway!

This cozy cabin named "Hummingbird Hideaway" is tucked into the side of the mountain at 2800 ft elevation providing amazing panoramic views. With multiple activities close by including DuPont Forest (20 m), the Carl Sandburg Home and Downtown Hendersonville (15m) this is the perfect spot for a family vacation. Asheville is just 40 mins away with the Historic Biltmore Estate and incredible dining opportunities.

Hummingbird Hideaway is tucked into the mountain providing you privacy and solitude. Relax and unwind while enjoying incredible views from the upper deck, or have an afternoon nap in the hammock on the lower deck.

If you are seeking adventure there are multiple opportunities in the area for hiking, fishing, tubing, gem mining, horseback riding and mountain biking. If you are looking for a more laid back vacation there are several breweries and wineries in the area to explore, as well as dining and shopping in quaint downtown.

You may find that once you leave the cabin you don't want to leave! A fully stocked kitchen with new appliances allows you to prepare all meals at home if you would like, with an al fresco dining option available at the farm house table on the upper deck. There is a cabinet stocked with board games and a library of books as well as some children's toys. There are smart TV's in both the family room and den that are loaded with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN- catch up on your favorite shows or have a family movie night.

Unfortunately we know that sometimes you will need to be able to work, even on vacation. We have excellent WiFi service at the cabin and the creative cabin provides a quiet place to work if necessary.

Hummingbird Hideaway is the perfect place to disconnect and make memories. We can't wait to share our home with you!

Bird watching over a beautiful view

Such a wonderful retreat. Morning sunrise watching the mountains smoke. Hikes in the day. Gorgeous sunsets. And evening games on the porch. House was clean and kitchen was well equipped. If a break from mountains is needed (perhaps to run a load of laundry) the downstairs smart tv worked perfectly. Definitely a repeat!

A great week in the mountains

This house is great. The views are really incredible, and the house is clean, well stocked and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the beds etc are great. Check in and out was very simple. Mandi is very responsive and helpful. The house is about 15 minutes from Hendersonville and grocery stores etc. The other reviews mentioning needing 4WD/AWD to get up to the house were correct - it is a very steep curvy road to the property. We would very highly recommend this property for a relaxing trip to the mountains.

Amazing Views

We really enjoyed our stay! The home is very nice and as listed. It is in a beautiful location with amazing views. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch. It is conveniently located to Hendersonville, Flat Rock, and many more scenic locations. The office/art studio space (stocked with art supplies) was a favorite of our kids. Great rental with privacy!

Perfect

Very comfortable, clean house with gorgeous views. Perfect for a family. Appreciative of all the little details. Kitchen was well stocked with all the cookware, etc that we needed. Only a 1/2 hour from some great mountain biking. Really enjoye the Carl Sandburg tour.

A gold star view

We loved this home. The house had everything we needed (except the porch heaters shown in the photos) & the views were outstanding! Nicely decorated, very comfy, lots of amenities provided, & a great coffee station/setup with all you could ask for to have a simple cup of coffee or kick it up a notch. So much to do in the area (shopping, hiking, restaurants, etc…). We definitely want to return in warmer weather so we can spend more time on the deck. The views are beautiful night & day. Recommend AWD/4WD for the road up to the house…it’s not long or difficult, just a few steep sections & sharp turns. Mandi is a great host…checked in on us early on to make sure all was well & was very prompt in responding anytime we had a question or needed some info.

Mountain Sanctuary

This place is so lovely! Views are spectacular! Amanda has thought of everything you could possibly want for an extremely comfortable stay. She’s not kidding about needing a 4WD, even with zero weather issues. The road up to the house is steep and narrow with parts unpaved making traction a challenge. The house is secluded in a beautiful tranquil setting. While there are restaurants and sites to see in the general area, we chose to always return back to the house before dusk as to avoid the trek up the mountain at night plus it was perfect time relax on the deck and soak in nature’s beauty! Thank you Amanda for a wonderful get-away!!

Adorable Mountain Retreat

The second you walk in the front door you are welcomed with fabulous mountain views. The home is very cozy and charming, many personal touches. The house was clean and supplied with everything we needed for our stay. It is close to great parks with a variety of hiking options. It is definitely a 4x4 climb to get to the house but it is so worth it to be perched up in the sky. :D

Beyond our expectations!!

This was the perfect get away. We loved the house and it’s location. The house was super clean, very well stocked and has the greatest porch with the most magnificent view and HUMMINGBIRDS!! We will look forward to going back!

The View never disappoints

Our second time staying at the Hummingbird Hideaway! Love the privacy and the views. This time we brought our granddaughter and she enjoyed her stay as well. Love places that our golden retriever can visit! The house had everything we needed. The master bed was so comfortable - so much we missed it when we returned home. 😁

Peaceful Place

There are not enough words to describe this adorable and comfortable home. The views will have you in a trance the moment you step out on the huge covered porch. We loved the porch chairs and ate our meals outside at the wonderful table. Perfect place to escape stress and decompress!

Great Getaway

The house was clean and kitchen reasonably well equipped. Location was convenient to Hendersonville and yet had an “out in the woods” feel. The only negative was a lack of dog walking spaces. Otherwise I would highly recommend. Amanda was very responsive to the one issue we had while there.

Beautiful big panoramic Mountain View!!!

We loved the view! Hard to find a big open view. Lots of mountain peaks and valleys beautiful sunrise and sunsets, wonderful large covered deck to take it all in! City lights in the distance was beautiful as well!! The cabin is great, very clean and comfortable all the conveniences of home. Easy check in and out. Are host was great , helpful and very pleasant. Although all our conversations, we’re on line. Beautiful fall colors, natures paint brush, perfect spot for fall colors.

Amazing Views!

Wonderful property! The views from the porch are absolutely beautiful, a great place to relax and unwind. We spent all our time out there. Home was super clean and well stocked. Everything was new and functioned properly. The house also has plenty of games and books, including children's books. We never turned the TVs on. The young kids loved the creative cabin. Overall, one of the best places we've stayed.

Amazing Mountain Getaway

The Hummingbird Hideaway is quite the gem! Nestled in the mountains with breath taking views and nature all around it checks all the boxes of peaceful and beautiful. The house is so charming and well maintained, one of the best VRBO's I have stayed at! I hope to come back again soon.

Staying in he Trees at Hummingbird!

Very nicely appointed homes, fabulous view, comfortable beds, lots of TV options, no where to walk about very steep property so not a place I would bring my dogs just FYI and make sure you have a 4w4 to get up and down the steep grade. Overall a stunning property in so many ways.

WOW

The first words out of my mouth when we walked onto the property was WOW! The views are unbelievable- breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. I could talk all day about the views- 2 porches with amazing seating for morning coffee and evening cocktails! We were close to downtown Hendersonville but also secluded in the mountains at the end of a road. Definitely needed an all wheel drive/4 wheel drive vehicle to navigate the road to the house. The house has everything- fully stocked kitchen and pantry. We only needed our food. We had all our dinners on the porch- did I mention the views? The beds are so relaxing, memory foam and comfortable pillows made for a great night of sleep after exploring. We enjoyed the game table as well as the puzzles, cards and board games. The owner was excellent with communication and checked in to make sure everything was okay. The house has so much character and charm. A lot of thought has gone into making this rental a wonderful retreat! We even saw hummingbirds at the Hummingbird Hideaway! We will definitely be back!

Perfect porch with best views

Really enjoyed our stay! The porches were the absolute best part of the entire house and we loved spending evenings out there taking in the views! Excellent host who made sure we had everything we needed and more. Beautiful indoor space with fun games and plenty of books to read. Adorable decorations. We liked that it was dog friendly and enjoyed taking our pup for walks in the trail behind the house!

Wonderful Mountain Retreat

Perfect getaway for celebrating a big anniversary (and birthday) with family we have not seen in several years. Knowing the area well, we chose this house for the porch and views, and we were pleasantly surprised to find it exceeded all expectations in every way. It was sparkling clean, beautifully furnished with the nicest amenities (from coffee, to my preferred toiletries and lotions), books, games, and sumptuous linens and bedding. We spent all of our time on the open-air porch and had a wonderful vacation at the Hummingbird Hideaway.

Simply Stunning!!

Our family of seven fell in love with this home and property. The sunrises and sunsets from the back deck cannot be beat, the views are simply stunning. This home was crafted with care and intention—roomy yet still cozy. Our boys loved the separate art/hangout space and dual decks. There is so much to do in the area. And a bonus that we could bring our sweet pup along. We made some wonderful memories together and look forward to returning!
