My wife and I came to bird watch and relax.

The house was perfect for us. Location is close to all our local destinations, located in a quiet area and clean. One of the best parts was watching the 2 bald eagles up close, as well as a number of ducks, pelicans, gulls and other birds from the deck. front porch!

Beautiful Sunset Views

We had a great stay and loved the area! If you’re expecting a 5 star the house isn’t it, but the views and location make it 5 star plus! At night, you have complete privacy, peace and quiet (except for the sound waves hitting shore). During the day, some locals come to fish on the pier or point, but everyone was friendly! We enjoyed visiting the small towns and even tried crabbing off the pier! Be sure to stop at Mattie Arts & Visitor Center for information and beautiful souvenirs! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return!!

Fishing trip

Overall the place was a nice little get away but does need a few things. Front door handle is broken but eventually got it to work and lock. Could not do laundry because the dryer does not work. Only provided 3 towels to use so glad we decided to bring our own. And the toilet seat upstairs is broken I would think the cleaning people would have noticed but that’s just my opinion

UNIQUE CABIN LOCALE

We visited the last week of June 2023 and the weather was perfect for stargazing on the upper deck. Loved the locale, very unique because it’s next to a salvage shipyard. And you have your own private beach to fish or catch crabs. Secluded and scenic, and yet it’s just a few miles to Belle Island Pier or the ferry to OBX. I would like to stay again someday. Highly recommended for people who love the beach , but not the crowds and traffic. I appreciate the owner for accommodating us on a last minute reservation . We just made lifelong memories there thanks to you !

Duck Hunting Oasis

We absolutely loved this property! It had beautiful views and ducks right behind the house. The property owner was very friendly and easy to get in touch with. The only issue we had was getting the Wi-Fi to connect but it wasn’t a big deal to us as we enjoyed disconnecting from the fast pace life at home!

2nd Time Around

This was our second stay in Swanquarter for my birthday weekend. It's just something about the peace by the water and the convenience to put the boat in so close by. Everyone around town is so friendly and you must try the burgers a the local grill. The owners keep the place clean and are helpful. This has become our new favorite place!!!

Beautiful sunsets

The place was peaceful minus the mosquitoes!!! Great location to fish, crab or shrimp! A boat would be very handy, if you really want to fish and it would be very convenient, as you can dock right beside the house. Took awhile to cool the place down but after that it was comfortable. The local Chris’s grocery and bait shop has most anything we needed, including a fishing license. Not much else there!

Quiet, Relaxing and Some Great Fishing and Very Friendly People

We had a very quiet and relaxing family vacation here, fishing and spending quality time with family. We caught drum, crab and even caught our first eel’s. There isn’t much to do, the town is very quaint and everyone we met was extremely friendly. Chris’s Grocery/Tackle Shop and Family Dollar provided everything we needed after our first shopping trip 30 minutes away the day we arrived. We took the ferry to Ocracoke one day and enjoyed the beach. The property owner was very friendly and attended to our needs. And promptly responded when I messaged her. BUT..make sure and bundle up on bug spray, if not you will be eaten alive! Otherwise, it was a lovey trip and we enjoyed our stay very much!

nice place to get away

Far away from the OBX crowds but still accessible. Decent Internet. Deck from bedroom have a great view, especially in night with fark skies (even with lights from boats). was not super buggy. house was clean but a little damp which I didn't mind. because of storm and winds, we couldnt try the Kayaks provided. pretty sure it will be fun.

Great Place for Fishing

My son and I brought our fishing kayaks down for the weekend. We had a great time relaxing at the cabin and paddling around the bay. The place was clean quiet, and both the AC and Wi-Fi worked perfectly. What more could anyone ask for? We will definitely be booking another stay in the near furure.

Fish On!!!

We arrived a little late Friday evening, but everything was exactly as described. The place was cozy and had everything we needed. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise and catching our first fish of the day was awesome. Literally, one cast and FISH ON! Can't wait to bring my grandson down next time. Thank you!!! On a side note, I recommend bringing a pistol just in case. We several snakes were spotted while we were there.

Rustic cabin on the Sound

Definitely a remote location at the end of the road in the middle of the boat yard/dock of Swan Quarter. We got in very late and the easy check in and key lock was great. Local friends drove us in to ensure we wouldn't get lost or worried we were in the wrong area. We were visiting for a wedding so no opportunity to use the kayaks or crab pots as with the grill and pots outside to cook the crab. We didn't use the house for anything other than sleeping, but it was well stocked with kitchen supplies. The weather was beautiful the few days we were there. It was fun to see the boats come and go and wake up to all the birds chirping. It was rainy a few days before we got in so the mosquitos were out in force! Bring bug spray! The unit was mostly clean for what you would expect being on the Sound. There was a lot of mold and mildew, so if you have allergies beware. There could be some additional cleaning on ceiling fans/vents and windows occasionally. Little details make a big difference. Oh and the front porch lights didn't work. Overall, it was a place to land after fun festivities with friends.

Terrible Experience

My husband, dog and I drove 4 hours to this property only to have to turn around and drive another 4 hours home. We received the "keys" to our trip via email, early in the week, with a check in time of 12am on 9/04/21. Had the place rented for Labor Day weekend/short anniversary getaway. When we arrived the outside trashcan was full, with several bags also on top, and beer boxes on the ground. We retrieved the key from the lockbox and walked into a mess. The stove, counter, microwave, fridge and floors were filthy, curtains down and smelly food (container of chili) left in the refrigerator. We kept walking into spider webs (upstairs and down) so the place hadn't been cleaned in a while. We went up to the bedroom only to see that all 3 beds had been slept in, the bathroom had used wet towels all over the floor and had not been cleaned. I called Callie (the host) but no answer. So, I sent a message through VRBO but no response. As we were leaving, I called Callie again (almost 30 minutes later) and she answered. I requested a refund and told her we were on our way back home. She agreed to refund our money and offered to let us stay. She said she would send "the girls" back out to clean but it would take a few hours. Unfortunately, it was evident the cleaning crew never showed up after the last renters. We decided to decline as we were already so disappointed and frustrated and wanted to attempt to salvage the remainder of our Saturday after 8+ hours roundtrip on the road. All this happened Saturday afternoon (before1pm) and the host has yet to start the refund process through vrbo. I know this process does not require a trip to the bank.. Our Labor Day/mini anniversary getaway was ruined and we are waiting on our refund to book another anniversary trip. We have booked through VRBO for over 15 years and not once had a negative rental experience. This was a lot of gas and time wasted that we cannot get back.
