Awesome accommodations out in the wilderness but very close to main highway. Owners are awesome and very helpful. Great place to stay. Out in the peaceful woods with great accommodations. Will definitely use again.

Reluctant Recommendation
We had a little trouble getting access to place. Host called back after we entered. The fumes from the garage are still there. It took us a while to determine what we were smelling. When we arrived, there was still garbage and dirty dishes from previous occupant. There were two beds and a sectional couch that doesn't open to a bed. We had to request the air mattress be delivered for the second night of our stay. No wifi.
The location was perfect for access to Traverse City, Torch Lake, and Grand Traverse golf courses.
Owners are on sight and were riding UTV all day and in/out of garage (garage door open/close was super loud)...which is underneath the VRBO. However, this is a perfect place for UTV/ATV/snowmobiles.
Other than that it is a clean, good size apartment. We had 4 adults and other than needing another bathroom, we had plenty of room. The couch was so comfortable I ended up sleeping on it, lol. They have records and record player which we enjoyed.
We really enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and what we expected from the post. The site is beautiful and quiet, but not far from amenities in Kalkaska and Elk Rapids. Robin was responsive to our messages. A stress-free place to stay!
We would absolutely go back! Hosts were amazing! The place had everything we needed and more. We had a wonderful experience with our stay and made some great memories.
Location was great, not too far from Torch Lake, Traverse City or Sleepy Bear Dunes. The listing is accurate except it does have Wi-Fi listed but it is not available.
The biggest concern is a safety concern. Upon first arriving everything was okay, but over time there was a gasoline smell that continued to get worse despite opening windows and having the owner open the garage doors to try and circulate out the smell. Our last night we started looking around when the smell became unbearable and realized the air vents in the floor were just holes leading directly into the garage, they were not attached to any duct work.
We ended up leaving at 2am out of concerns for our health and the health of our dogs. For so many reasons this can be dangerous and something to take into account before booking this listing.
This is a great place that is close to Traverse City. Check in process was very easy and the host checked in with me to make sure we got in okay and were all set, which was appreciated. The beds were comfortable and each room had its own TV. The living area had plenty of room for 4 adults. Parking was a little bit of a pain since we had two vehicles. AC was not sufficient for the size of the place, the bedrooms were very warm at night, a couple fans could help this a lot. Also we anticipated that there would be Wifi available since the listing mentioned Internet. Thanks for a great weekend!
4 gals here for a biking weekend. We enjoyed the surrounding areas of Torch Lake, Leelenau, and Old Mission… biking each one and then to our quiet private space to cook a nice meal and relax. Quick responses to our questions. Accommodated our requests! .
Very nice and clean rental in a woodsy setting. The fully stocked kitchen, satellite tvs and beautiful deck made it feel like a home away from home. Robin made it super comfortable and checked in us as well. If you have small children or a large family (we are a fam of 6), it may or may not be the right rental for you depending on your needs. The staircases are high up so maybe request a gate. Also, there are lots of things babies can get into so either baby-proof when you get there or request possible baby-proofing. We made it work for us and it was in close proximity to our families in Alden/Mancelona and Williamsburg/Elk Rapids. We would stay here again for that reason. It is very nice. 🙂

About the host
Hosted by Robin Parchem
We have lived and loved this area for more than 25 years. We are a fun loving "young" couple (50+) who really enjoy the outdoors. One passion I have is foraging: could be mushrooms and/or herbs/wild plants. Also, I'm a little addicted to my morning snowmobile ride! Dave, my husband, is very good at guiding a sled ride or a boat ride on Torch Lake. Overall, we are pretty knowledgeable about the surrounding areas. ENJOY LIFE!!
Why they chose this property
Our house is centrally located. Easy to get to Torch Lake and Traverse City. There are tons of outdoor events year round. Snowmobiling happens directly out of the property, no trailer needed. In the summer, the Traverse Film Festival, Cherry Festival, Flintfields Horse Show and many many more attractions are near by.
What makes this property unique
Also, we are close by the Iron Man race and the Cross Country Skiing events that happen in this area.
