Lake Superior Log Home Retreat

Note: Advertised rate is for the full cabin and property but with just the king bedroom. You can add queen bedrooms (see IMPORTANT NOTE below)

Welcome to our new log home / cabin (1700sf 1-3 bed 2 bath) on a ridge near Lake Superior with easy access to Duluth, Two Harbors and beyond. Great “base camp” for your time exploring the North Shore or just relaxing with family and friends in your place on private acreage.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To keep rates manageable, the rate here is for the house with just the King bedroom. If you want one or both of the other queen bedrooms (each $50/night), just message us once you're booked and we can easily add them.

Long weekend getaway
First of all I want to say shame on me and the 2 other couples for not reading the small print. (Not sure but think it was changed after we booked). But all three couples missed that when you book you are only booking the king size bed room which is in the basement and you have to pay more to book the 2 queen size bedrooms which is on the main floor. They stated it was it was not fair to them. Then for it being clean. Yes for the most part it was clean except the windows you look out from the loft were so dirty. And then when we wanted to use the bowls and pans we had to clean them before we used them and believe we are not picky people. (All couples by the way are in our 60s and 70s). Don’t plan on doing any yard games. The weeds were right up to the cabin. But the worse thing was is this cabin had water damage in front of both doors to the point of were when you stepped inside the door the floor went down. The sub floor was so rotten to the point of when the guys stepped on it they thought they were going to go threw the floor. I have pictures but not sure how to put them on here. Hopefully things change because it is a nice location. Oh by the way it says it has a hair dryer but we could not find any so make sure to bring your own.

Nice house among the trees
This was a very nice three bedroom home (we used 2 of the bedrooms) and 2 baths. During the day you could hear the cars on the highway but at night it was very peaceful. It was lovely sitting on the deck and turning the fire on. Would stay there again.

Great cabin in the woods
My family and I stayed here for our son’s wedding. The home was very clean, plenty of bedding and towels. Chad, the host was very good with communication. If you love to be In a secluded area, but close to all the activities this is the place to be!

We had a great stay at the cabin with lots to do in the area. Plenty of room for us to come back to after our adventures and continue to hang out. Highly recommend!

We truly enjoyed our stay! The cabin was private and very clean. It was right in the middle of our site seeing adventure. The only disappointing point was the extra fee for the extra bedrooms. If you have children it would be wise to bring an air mattress or two to set up in the loft which is wide open space.

A Wonderful Stay
Our family (two adults and two kids ages 5 and 2) had a wonderful stay! Check-in/check-out were a breeze thanks to the host's great communication. Everything in the cabin was in great shape and exactly as listed (if not better than the pictures!). We had a fantastic 5 days. Highly recommend!

We had a great stay. Loved the set up and cozy atmosphere. The deer and eagles were fun to watch. The grandchildren loved Gooseberry Falls and the Split Rock Lighthouse. We even had a movie night and a game night too. The kitchen is awesome and had everything we needed. Wonderful home for a vacation

Great Location and Stay
Loved this spot for our long weekend in the north shore. Close to state parks, two harbors, and Duluth. Beautiful sunrise and fall foliage views from the deck and cute visits from deer in the woods. We wished for some more seating options in the main kitchen area for morning coffee when it was too wet to be outside on the deck (other than sitting at dining table). I think this spot would benefit from furniture in loft (it’s empty) and maybe air mattresses to accommodate families with children. Could easily host more folks in the cabin with a few more accommodations. Would 100% stay here again and recommend.

BEWARE! HOST HAS NOT RESPONDED ABOUT CAMERA OUTDOORS AMONG OTHER THINGS
I sent msg below, NO RESPONSE. (there was more but character limit) The amazon Alexa speaker on top of the cabinets felt a little creepy/invasive, so we unplugged on Friday when we noticed it. One of our dogs came over to us happily chewing on one of the ant poison traps so we picked them all up off the floor as well, yikes. It is fall in MN so I understand the flies and "lady bugs" but they get progressively worse into the afternoon on the upper windows and then subside a bit who knows where later in the evening. When we got home there were several dead ones in our wine box we used for transport that had been sitting on the kitchen counter. I am sure you are aware of the water intrusion issue but am wondering if there is also a hidden mold issue. I am extremely allergic and have asthma and did have a difficult time breathing without lots of inhaler usage to the point of being uncomfortable. A light outside the lower door is necessary and I believe required under state code. I was nervous taking the dogs out and night, it was very dark. Finally, a camera hiding in the bird house? I noticed on Saturday evening while I had been enjoying my glass of wine on the deck. Not sure of what exactly it views, but my husband and I had slept in the lower level room with the shades open not even knowing it was there the night prior. Again, the space is amazingly beautiful and we greatly appreciated being able to bring our fur kids along as well.
