The Island Sands Resort on Maui is located oceanfront in Maalaea, just a short four miles to Kihei and a scenic 15-mile drive to Lahaina. When you stay in this Island Sands Resort condo, you'll enjoy spectacular sunsets, whale watching in the winter, and walking along the five miles of white sand beach. This one-bedroom Island Sands Resort condo is complete with air conditioning, cable TV, telephone, free WiFi, washer/dryer, fully-equipped kitchen, and an in-room safe. This secluded oceanfront property features a private oceanview lanai overlooking scenic Maalaea Bay. Island Sands Maui has both a pool, BBQs, and free parking. Centrally located close to all of the Valley Isle’s activities, shops, and restaurants, the Island Sands is one of Maui’s best condominium values. Spectacular sunsets are a daily event and guests often see humpback whales frolicking in their winter playground.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Very pleased with accommodations.
We had a wonderful stay. Very grateful for the welcome package. This was a great place to stay, good location, we saw turtles from the balcony. The washer/ dryer came in very handy, parking spot was close, pool was clean, carts for loading and unloading came a great idea. We will stay again.

Great View!
The view from the lanai is absolutely gorgeous. We even had about 7 sea turtles greet us the day we got here! I love that there's a washer/dryer in the unit. Now I don't have to worry about doing a lot of laundry when I get home. The bed is really comfortable. Overall, I would recommend! The front desk staff aren't very friendly, though.

Best point about this unit is it’s view from the deck. It’s on the 6th floor of a six floor building and located right in the center over looking the ocean only feet from the water’s edge. There is no beach area here but a walkable 2-3 mile beach is about a half mile away. Multiple State beach’s are an easy 10 minute drive away toward Lahaina.

This unit provides a breathtaking view of the sunrise and of humpback whales breaching through the water. Just remember to bring a couple pairs of binoculars. It's about a 5 minute drive to the nearest beach. The unit itself is okay, a bit outdated. The A/C unit only cools off the living room. The bedroom can be a bit warm even though there's a ceiling fan. All of the dresser drawers were so filled with towels and bedding that there was no room for our things. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows could be softer. Remember to bring your own supply of shampoo, conditioner, soap, and moisturizer. The couch and chairs looked clean, but the upholstery needed cleaning. Overall, the most enjoyable part of our stay was waking to a beautiful sunrise, listening to the crashing sounds of ocean waves, and searching for whales through the lenses of our binoculars.

Quaint Tropical island getaway 🌴
This one bedroom, one bath condo had everything you need for a private getaway, including a very comfortable bed, which is very key. I have stayed at others in this same condo bldg that the bed was hard as a rock. Definitely a key factor in making future stays. This one was absolutely perfect, perfect amount of space for two. The view of the ocean from the lanai with my cup of coffee every morning was fabulous literally on the beach.

Remote location near awesome beach
This was our first time to Maui and we are now in west Maui, but we started out trip here and out the door of this place is a super long amazing beach. It’s central to a lot of things. They do need to upgrade the patio furniture! And empty some drawers but overall it was clean and just what we needed! The bed is comfy too!!

Nice peaceful place to stay
We enjoyed staying at Island Sands for our Honeymoon. The complex is quiet and people are friendly. The pool is clean and great for a cool off after a hot day. The room we stayed in only had 1 window air conditioner so our bedroom was warmer and we used the fan. I would think 2 window units would make it even better. We had a great time and we would definitely come again. Aloha Hawaii, goodbye Hawaii A hui hou kākou (until we meet again)💜

A week in Maui
Very convenient and comfortable. Beautiful views of the ocean and sea turtles. Only piece of advice is definitely rent a car, as buses are every hour and ubering is quite expensive. Other than that couldn’t be more perfect.

Beautiful Ocean View
We loved staying at the condo, absolutely beautiful view of the ocean on the top floor. I loved waking up in the morning and going out on the balcony to enjoy the sunrise. The bed was nice and comfy not like most hotels. It had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.

This place is awesome!
The view is fantastic! It’ excactly what you dream for when you come to Hawaii. There is a beautiful endless beach to walk just a few minutes walking from the condo. The location is also perfect, central on the island and easy access to shopping, beaches, snorkeling spots, etc.

Convenient location - affordable, but...
Stayed here before. It's OK. Central location walking distance to the marina. Nice beach; a short walk down the road. Pretty clean, but worn and needs some work. Little need for the air conditioner - we never turned it on. Spent most of the in residence time on the lanai. Great view and entertaining to watch the turtles feeding off the rocks directly below a.m. and p.m. Watch for the night divers! Things you can't do anything about, but should be aware of: a) It's Maalea. Windy, VERY windy. It whistles (and I do mean whistles!) through the bedroom window louvers most nights. You may also find it relaxing for the most part, but better get used to it. b) Top floor unit is located close to the elevator. Bedroom is next to the entrance so you get the constant elevator ding and oblivious guests who appear to be CLUELESS that their loud conversations in the walkway at night may be disturbing to other guests. If you want to try and continue to operate on some semblance of mainland time or even when you don't...yes, it's annoying. Areas needing improvement: a) Incredibly dull knives. The serrated one did the least damage to our food. b) Ancient and barely functional can opener. c) No beach chair or umbrella(s). We bought 2 of each and left them. These are basic beach vacation necessities. Hopefully they'll still be there for your stay, but no guarantees. d) Only 2 beach towels. ???? Washer/dryer works great. Had a great vacation, but exhausted from lack of sleep. Likely to try another unit next time.

Keith was very easy to communicate with. He manages over 350 rental units, but I always received a reply to my questions within minutes! The unit 607 in Island Sands is in great condition, comfortable sleeping with a long stretch of sandy beach nearby. The location is convenient for whale watching, you can see them breaching in a distance from the balcony or go on the tour that sails off from the Ma`alaea harbor in a walking distance. `This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.`
