Would stay again!
The Sugar Beach location was perfect! Centrally located for anywhere you want to check out on the island! First floor condo made it easy to take a dip in the pool or hot tub. The beach is beautiful and not too busy. A short 8 minute walk down the beach takes you to the SugarBeach Bake Shop omg. Luilanis Shave Ice - a must, a small farmers market with local fruits, guac and beautiful handmade souvenirs reasonably priced. There is an ABC store there too for quick grocery items and souvenirs Also the grill back at the condo worked out great as well!

Great Location
Great location! Easy to get to Kahului airport, Kehei, and Lahaina. Had everything we needed: coffee, filters, pots, pans, utensils, cutting boards, bowls, coffee mugs, coffee pot, keurig, laundry soap, dryer sheets, dishwasher pods, linens, bath towels for 4, beach towels for 4, 2 boogie boards, bamboo beach mats. If you can be a little more generous with the dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap for folks who are staying longer than 3 days - that would be fantastic! Also the curtains from the back are super dirty. Don't know how it got that way but a wash would help the next guests. All-in-all, I would stay here again with my little family of 4. Thanks for the welcome gift and early checkin - that was super sweet!

Condo has a great location by the pool and beach. Unit was clean and functional. The carpet was stained. Would suggest new flooring as we were constantly worried about coming in from the beach or pool. No dinning table to have meals. After visiting others in this resort you realize how outdated this unit is. We had a wonderful vacation. Thank you very much.

Unit 110
1. Clock radio in bottom drawer in my bedside table NOT WORKING. Could not use the alarm for early start on Friday morning. 2. Power points in Bathroom wall (chest height) NOT WORKING. Had to use other points close to the floor. e.g. Charging phone, tablet and hairdryer used in bedroom in front of mirrored clothing cupboard doors. 3. Dishwasher soap tablet container opening but soap not being released and remaining in the container. Not a hygienic cleaning of eating utensils. 4. Curtains facing sliding doors to the outside, quite dirty and need to be dry cleaned. 5. No TV Guide for the 800 channels e.g. when wanting to view the NEWS. 6. No dining table or chairs for meals. Only breakfast bar which is uncomfortable for seniors to use. Our family in the past has stayed at Sugar Beach Resort for several years and feel that the standard of this unit was extremely POOR.

Nice location-right on the beach
The property is in a nice location-easy access to Kihei stores and restaurants, etc. The grounds are maintained very well....the charming waterfall right next to our lanai was very nice...loved all the flowers!! The condo was nice and simple but needs a bit of cleaning-the curtains in both rooms, for example. We got there after office hours and did not know where to go. A few calls/text messages to the after hours phone numbers got us into our condo and we officially checked in the next morning. We liked our stay and would stay there again.

Aloha….Ground floor just steps from the pool, hot tub and beach with a koi pond just feet away. G-kids loved the pool. Perfect view of the sunsets. Excellent floor plan and furnishings. We have family here and this is the best property we’ve found.

Pros: fantastic beach, beautiful sunsets, great central island location Cons; unit is very aged. Carpet is stained in multiple areas, curtains are filthy at the opening areas. Very dated furniture and kitchenware. Bathroom is tired - caulking is dust filled, WiFi was intermittent and non existent in the bedroom. We were unable to get the tv functioning on the cable box for local news. No cutting boards (one built into counter full of splinters as made of wood). Highly recommend the owners do a refresh, paint, new curtains, pull out carpet. Make the unit modern to match the prices being charged.

The init is so close to the pool and the ocean, making it th perfect location. Pull out couch was comfy as was the queen in the bedroom. All the amenities were there. Everything was great.

Sugar Beach Resort is a great location, condo needs improvement
Pro’s The sandy beach is 6 miles long and great for taking long walks in the morning or evening, beautiful sunsets and lots of recreation options (ie eFoil lessons, canoe clubs, etc). It is a very convenient location to get to Lahaina, Kihei, and back to the airport. The unit has air-conditioning which we were not charged extra to use. The Internet works, I need to keep rebooting the connection and it seems really slow (not sure if this is a function of being on Maui on the set up in the unit). It does work for video conferencing and could be used for off site working but it is slow at times and needs to be reconnected everything you wake your computer from sleep mode. The carpet in the living room appears to be fairly new (thought for a ground floor beach resort I would recommend all floors be tile or faux wood) The location is in a windy part of the island which is great for me as I am a kitesurfer but some people may not like this. Cons The Sugar Beach Resort was built i the 70’s and I expect this unit has not been upgraded at all since it was originally built. For the money we spent, we have had much nicer units than this. Many condos in the part of Maui have been recently been fully redone inside and this unit definitely needs it. This still has the original laminated counters, The wallpaper is peeling away at the seams. original shower and bathrooms and builder basic cupboards that were painted white on the outside but are still dark brown inside. The dishes remind me of a family cottage in the 60’s where little matched and everything was a hand me down that the parents refused to throw out so it went to the cottage. It is a shame since the owners can easily buy new, matching cutlery and dishes from Costco, Walmart or Target (just down the road) and have a very professional look. I cannot say it is a quiet resort, the center grounds are small and they was always some maintenance going on in the mornings such as cutting grass, trimming edging, poop maintenance, etc.. The outdoor furniture’s cushions are all stained, quite gross looking we would use a beach towel to sit on them. My advice to the owner, for the money you are charging your guests, make and investment in your property, it is time to do a complete redo of the interior to modernize the unit. Many condo owners took advantage of the Covid shut down to gut and rebuild their units into beautiful, modern, comfortable vacation rentals.

Great location. The cleaning staff did not leave it very clean. No beach towels. No fault of the owners. Also, no extra kitchen supplies…salt, oil etc It was quiet and enjoyable. The pool was nice too and terrific beach access.
