This Mid Century Modern home was designed with beautiful lake views in mind, just 15 minutes form Saugatuk and 15 minutes from Oval Beach! You can enjoy all Hutchins Lake has to offer and come back to your private and secluded home that is tucked away on 12 acres in the woods and backs up to Fenn Valley Winery. You can walk or bike to Fenn Valley, Modales Winery and Virtue Cider. You can boat all day, and enjoy the private fire pit with the best views of the entire lake and watch the sun set from the tire swing!

Visit Crane’s Pie pantry and pick apples, blueberry’s cherry’s and much more during the fall or sled on the hill in the yard in the winter and ski at Bittersweet.

This is a year round perfect getaway from the big city or your suburban home.

Perfect for our small family

We absolutely loved our time on blue goose drive it was absolutely beautiful and we spent many nights fishing in the backyard The host Michael was great and very responsive We had the best time.

Great vacation: Hutchins Lake/Saugatauk

Our family loves staying on Hutchins Lake. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a quiet, pretty lake while also taking in all the Fennville and Saugatuck area have to offer. This property is very beautiful and secluded. We were able to enjoy being active while also having the ability to quietly relax. The backyard is very picturesque. Waking up to the sunny lake through the large windows at the back of the house was exactly what we were hoping for. We enjoyed taking the kayaks out daily and the kids would fish from there or on the dock. It is the very marshy end of the lake, so swimming takes a bit more effort, but the kids didn’t mind and would kayak out to a spot that worked. The cottage itself was bright and open and nicely decorated. Things were clean and organized. We appreciated having a good sized laundry room after days on the lake or hiking dunes. The property owner was very responsive to anything and everything we needed and made sure our stay was enjoyable. It was a wonderful week in Michigan!!

Perfect getaway

Stay here, you'll love it!

Wonderful stay! Gorgeous and clean house with an amazing outdoor space. It's perfect for a small family, a couple, or a solo person. We stayed here for mother's day and spent our days up in Holland at the Tulip Festival, though I wish we had more time to spend on the property just relaxing. We enjoyed the quiet and watching all the wildlife in the backyard. The location is great... 20-30 mins from Saugatuck and Holland and right next to Fenn Valley Winery, Virtue Cider, and Modales Winery. The owners were attentive and kind. Check-in was smooth with no difficulty finding the place or getting in. The beds were very comfortable, with tons of extra linens and pillows (a must for me). If the price remained as it was when we booked last summer, I would come back multiple times a year (I live 6 hours away and come to Michigan quite often for solo trips and family vacations). We just loved it here!

Amazing Property

This property has been one of my favorites that I have booked through vrbo. My family and I were looking for a new fall getaway and this was the perfect place to stay. Location was just what we were looking for. Close to Saugatuck, Lake Michigan and Douglas but tucked away from daily bustle of things. The house and location is beautiful. Secluded, peaceful and gorgeous sunsets that you can view from the screened in porch, the dock or on the patio. Great property for kids and families with lots of games, water activities and a fire pit for s’mores at night. Love the sound machines for bedtime! The house is decorated with intention and modern farmhouse vibe, even the chairs have the perfect placement for enjoying the lake views. The surround sound speakers were an added bonus. The house is located close to several vineyards, including Virtue Cider less than 2 miles away. Great family spot with trails, hogs, bunnies and lots of yard games. The food is great as well. Cranes Orchard is less than 5 mins away. Another great fall family location with plenty to do for the afternoon. The owner was in communication with hours of booking. Very responsive, kind and answered questions quickly leading up to the trip. He even checked to make sure we got in ok and to see if we needed anything. Highly recommend booking this property!

Charming nested oasis

Loved this wonderful slice of heaven in SW Michigan. Not only is it nestled away on a private street, offering a quiet charm that you savor for a weekend getaway but it has a pretty view of the water and is walkable to several wineries and Virtue Cider. They offered a list of activities and restaurants for exploring the area that came in handy and the place was very clean. Overall great experience!

Relaxing Weekend Getaway

So happy we rented this beautiful retreat in the woods with its views of peaceful Hutchins Lake and water birds like the Great Blue Heron. Michael provided all the amenities we needed for a very comfortable stay - including Solo fire pit and kayaks - and was readily available for any questions we had. The location is conveniently near the popular Saugatuck-Douglas area, while being in less-congested Fennville surrounded by wineries and orchards. We highly recommend this lovely lakehouse!

Relaxing weekend

The property is exactly as presented. The house is nicely furnished with an amazing view of the inlet and lake. The property is larger and more private than I expected with plenty of room to play, relax or both. I didn't want to leave the hammock. The hosts are properly communicative and were very easy to work with. Highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful lake home

This is a perfect getaway for 2 adults or family vacation. Home is set off the lake on a channel with easy access to lake via the provided kayaks. Lovely short walk down channel pathway to a firepit on the lake. Owners very responsive, with great communication. Lots of bird watching on property. Saugatuck a short drive for shopping, and great food downtown Fennville at Salt of the Earth and western Michigan pizza. We had a lovely time, and would definitely stay again.

Hutchins lake property was a great stay!

Mike was a very responsive and helpful owner. The place was clean and well equipped. We had a great week on the lake with the boat. Lake is very quiet and never busy. the neighbors were friendly and helpful and offered advice on where to go to dine out and thing to do.

Peaceful and Relaxing!

My husband, four year old son and I absolutely loved this place! The views from the house are gorgeous. In my opinion, this site is one of the best spots on the lake because of the seclusion. We really enjoyed taking out the kayaks to the sand bar for a swim. We’re lucky Michael has kids because my son loved the toys in the outdoor bin and the tire swing! There’s a fire pit out near the tire swing, where it feels like you have the lake all to yourselves. (Important note: there’s a Solo Stove (fire pit) near the house too so you have options if you don’t feel like walking). The house itself is super clean, beds comfortable and clearly high quality. Kitchenware in great shape and knifes were actually sharp, making it safer and easier to cook. Michael was extremely responsive to questions that came up and genuinely wants his guests to enjoy their stay. The whole experience felt like what all these rental sites should be in an ideal world. Nice people opening up their home for a week and you reciprocate by taking good care of it while you’re there. I booked this place on a gut feeling before it had any reviews and I’m so glad I did! They are new, and I have no doubt the positive reviews will keep rolling in.

Wonderful relaxing week

My husband and I stayed here for a kid-free week with a couple friends joining us for a couple of the nights. The property was perfect for us- we took full advantage of the access to the lake and fire pit, and it was easy to walk to Virtue cidery and Fenn Valley winery and a quick drive to Saugatuck. Michael, the owner, was communicative and helpful prior to the trip; we had no issues during so didn't have the need to contact him. It was clear that the place was special to the owners and therefore well cared for. We would strongly consider renting it again if we are in the area.

Fabulous Getaway!

This property is a fantastic place to enjoy nature and get away from it all. A symphony of birds greet you each morning for a wonderful sunrise. Fish breaking water and deer join in for a beautiful start of each day. The cottage is clean. Beds were super comfortable. The kitchen had all the stemware, cookware and gadgets you need. The location is great and close proximity to restaurants, wineries, beaches and awesome towns. The owner, Michael is very kind and accessible for questions and quick response to reservations. A wonderful weekend on the lake!

We had a great time at this place. Michael was very communicative and the property was beautiful. Even visiting in early May, we were able to enjoy a night at the fire pit surrounded by beautiful evening nature sounds, woke up to enjoy a few gorgeous sunrises, and saw several deer walk right past the house at twilight. The house is delightfully tucked away in trees, and even though there are a few other properties next door you feel like you've got the whole lake to yourself. Michael went above and beyond to give recommendations for how to spend our time, to make us feel welcome, and to ensure we had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend away. This was a perfect place to stay to enjoy the tulips in Holland, some shopping and eating in Saugatuck, and even a few chilly trips to the dunes and beach. It was wonderfully relaxing to come back to Michael and Lizz's place at the end of the day out and enjoy cozying up under a blanket with a beautiful view. We can't wait to come back in warmer weather when we can open all the sliding doors and spend more time on the deck or at the beautiful peninsula fire pit. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a jumping off point to get you to the great small towns and beaches nearby or for a place to hole up and stay for a quiet weekend off the grid. It was perfect!
