About this property

Fabulous Scenic Mountain Home - Sleeps 10!

Welcome to Mt. Ralphmore!

Absolutely the best in every way...location, scenic views & price. This mountain retreat is built in the Heart of the Colorado Rockies(more 14,000' mountains here than anywhere else in North America), breath-taking mountain views in every direction, best view of the famous Chalk Cliffs.

Overlooks & constructed on the banks of the beautiful Chalk Creek w/ floor to ceiling windows.. Enjoy the beauty (magnificent) & sounds of nature (bubbling creek below), watch the wildlife (deer, elk, fox) fish, hike or sit out on the 40' plus wrap around porch. The large screened in porch is great for outdoor eating and relaxing as well.

This is a warm & wonderfully built cabin w/ all the comforts & amenities (maybe more) of home. With 3 full baths and 6 separate vanities, everyone gets accommodated.

Mt. Ralphmore is located just 15 min. & 23 min. respectively from the historic towns of Buena Vista & Salida, where charm, dining, shopping & galleries abound!

The San Isabel National Forest, St. Elmo (famous ghost town & great place to feed the chipmunks or rent jeeps/snowmobiles), Mt Princeton Hot Springs (Colorado's #1 hot springs)& the Arkansas River (great rafting or fly fishing) are all right here.

Monarch, Ski Cooper & Copper Ski Resorts are all 45-60 min. away, as is Leadville (lots of history there). Breckenridge is just a bit over an hour & Vail is 1 hr. & 30 min. Located 90 miles from Colorado Springs, flying in & out is easy.

Plenty of activities to enjoy year round. The best place to take a family, take a friend, take a break & take a vacation!

Creekside Cabin

Beautiful property located just minutes from Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort and just a short distance to the St. Elmo Miners Loop ATV/Jeep trails! You can also just enjoy the property, fresh mountain air, scenery, and creek right from the deck or creek side. Highly recommend this property!

Perfect mountain cabin

Great location near horseback riding, whitewater rafting and hot springs. The cabin is perfect for families. My favorite part is the kitchen! It’s huge and open to the living areas. I love looking out of the windows and taking in the beautiful views.

Perfect cabin get-away in Buena Vista area

This the perfect place for a family vacation in the middle of the beautiful Collegiate peaks. The cabin was wonderful for large gatherings. We comfortably slept 9 adults with room for more. It was very clean and right in the middle of fishing, white water rafting, hiking trails and very close to snow skiing. We couldn’t have asked for a better place. The owner was so responsive with ideas for groceries, restaurants and hiking trails. We had a wonderful time.

Family vacation

The cabin was well kept, spacious, and well stocked. The location was private but close to many activities. We loved the fire pit when it wasn't raining. My son-in-law is a gourmet chef and found the kitchen very well set up for his creations. The kids loved the hikes, St Elmo, horseback riding, and the wildlife.

Our second time!

We loved this cabin the first time so much that we came back! It was just as clean and beautiful as ever! The cabin was equipped with everything we need. There were many games, toys, and cards for the kids and we loved the new fire pit!! The view is amazing and we would HIGHLY recommend this property!

Mountain Views

Lovely property.. well stocked kitchen and beautiful location. Lots of activities in the area. The listing was a little misleading in the sense they said under amenities ….air conditioning… but only fresh mountain air; which was one reason we rented because of allergies.

Sweet stay

This cabin is beautiful and well stocked. The bed arrangements weren’t great for our group (3 twins in one room and a double in a loft with no door), but we knew that when we booked it. Elizabeth was quick to reply to our questions and very helpful. The location along the creek is dreamy as is the screened in porch and games for kids. Some of the furniture is tired but overall a very cozy stay in a beautiful location. It feels like a home, not just a rental. Thanks for a great stay!

Great home, great location, photos do not do it justice.

The home is spotless. Amenities are exactly as described. The stream out back is perfect. Closer to Buena Vista, but also close to Salida. Great location for visiting Great Sand Dunes and Black Canyon NPs, hikes, rent a Jeep and visit Tin Cup pass. Elizabeth is great to work with. The internet is unfortunately slow, and only Verizon cellular reaches the site, so know this and you won't be disappointed.

Only thing I didn't like was leaving!

Beautiful, well maintained and well furnished home with great views and a peaceful relaxing atmosphere. Enjoyed feeding all the birds from the porch railing and seeing the deer come up to the yard every day. Close to fun little towns and shopping. I really liked seeing the Elk and Antelope herds in the large pastures near Nathrop. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner in the large kitchen and grilled steaks on the outdoor grill. The fire pit by the running creek was a great place to smoke a good cigar and chill. After 10 days, none of us wanted to leave. We're ready to go back and do it again. Thanks Elizabeth

Spectacular!

We pulled up the drive to the Cabin and were so excited from the view and couldn't wait to get inside. The excitement just followed us as we stepped into the cabin and explored our stay for the next two nights. It was wonderful. The views were spectacular. The Cabin was perfect for our little brood. We were here for our daughter's wedding in Twin Lakes and tried to talk her into getting married at the cabin (due to the temp at Twin Lakes). We didn't have any luck changing the venue but the views by the river would have been just a beautiful place to have a small intimate wedding. Thank you for opening your home to us. We will definitely be renting this cabin again.

Under promised and over delivered

10 of us, ages 6 to 75 spent 4 wonderful nights at this spectacular property. What a pleasant surprise! Wonderfully provisioned with superior appliances, cooking utensils, dining, serving and entertainment options. Very comfortable sleeping arrangements with 4 different temperature settings throughout the house and a few fireplaces to enjoy. Beautiful views of Mt. Princeton and Chalk Cliffs, accompanied with a very pleasant Chalk creek a stone's throw from the balcony. Spacious, comfortably furnished and exquisitely provisioned (to include a device for sharpening your scissors). We will return.

Wonderful Stay

We spent a long weekend at the cabin for our sons 40th birthday. It has everything we needed and more. The location is easy to get to. The cabin is immaculate and had plenty of room for the 12 of us - 8 adults, 4 kids. We have been going to Mt. Princeton for the last 40 plus years and this was by far our favorite stay. There is plenty of seating to accommodate everyone indoors and out. We loved having coffee by the creek in the morning, spending the day fishing in the creek and finishing the night up by the campfire roasting s'mores. The wrap around porch with the view of the Chalk Cliffs and Chalk Creek was truly a dream. Elizabeth was very responsive and very accommodating to our needs, we also give her 5 stars. The cabin is an amazing property for family pictures, we can't wait to put our photo books together for the family. Thank you for the wonderful stay, we will be back. Peace and Love, Bob and Janis

Excellent Colorado House and Location

I and my group (8 long time friends) stayed at Elizabeth Baker's Mt. Ralphmore house for 4 nights in September 2018. We did the same in 2011. We greatly appreciate the house because it is exceptionally well designed and equipped for a large group. In particular, there was a separate comfortable bed for each person and the kitchen was large and well equipped. Nothing was lacking. We spent much of our indoor time gathered around the huge granite island in the kitchen, and the kitchen is part of the dining and living room which is surrounded with vaulted windows and beautiful views of Chalk Creek and distant mountains. There are countless hiking and climbing opportunities within a short drive of the house. This year, we also took advantage of the fact that the house is directly on the Colorado Trail. We hiked a portion of the Trail which allowed us to gain about 2,000 feet of elevation for excellent views. The house is about a 10 minute walk from Wright Lake, a small public fishing lake (large pond). I was there each morning at sunrise for spectacular scenery and photography.

Perfect

Simply magical... our stay at Mr. Ralphmore can be summed up in those two words. We arrived in the dark and woke up to the sun rising over Mt. Princeton. Made even more special by the fact that we didn’t even have to get out of bed to see the majesty of that moment. The house itself was everything we expected and more: beautifully decorated, comfortable for a group, well stocked and maintained. The design was perfectly “Colorado cabin,” and with all the amenities you would love to have in your own home. And the setting, along Chalk Creek, couldn’t have been better. We said time and again during our stay that we didn’t see a house or location in the many places we explored that week that equaled this home. Elizabeth was a perfect host - available for any questions, clear in communicating what needed to be done to check in and out and full of great recommendations for the area. We plan to make Mt. Ralphmore a tradition for our family. A rental home that feels like an extension of your own home and family is something special. My only hesitation in giving this home the review it deserves is it becoming so popular it’s hard to find dates to stay! You won’t regret any amount of time you can find to stay in this gem in Nathrop.

Growing up in Dallas with 10 siblings prepared me for serving others and creating special moments to share. Being in real estate for 25 yrs further equipped me with the needs and wants folks desire in a home or an investment or even a getaway. Raising four children and having 12+ grandkids and counting, provides me with an solid view of how best to provide a welcoming environment for all.

Why they chose this property

Mt. Ralphmore is a fabulous place to relax and get away from everyday stresses. The access to nature can reenergize one's spirit. Gathering around the firepit down by the creek creates a wonderful atmosphere for deeper bonding and lots of shared fun story telling. It is also very well maintained and clean : )

What makes this property unique

The best home in the area w/ the finest views. A very warm inviting home that sits on three+ acres overlooking Chalk Creek, the Chalk Cliffs, Mt Princeton & Mt Antero. Hearing the bubbling of the creek or viewing the Chalk Cliffs at sunrise, walking down Bunny Lane or driving up to St. Elmo, memories for a lifetime will be made.
