Mountainview stay August 2021

This location provided enough sleeping space for our group (6 adults). Two of the four sleeping areas were rooms with no windows that connected to the main living area. Lights in the kitchen/living room area were sensitive as in they would sometimes not turn on, but after a while they would come on. Beds - some of our group found them comfortable, and some didn’t. The beds were very squeaky and soft. Bathroom sink water pressure was non-existent until we took off the aerator. This property more or less had what we needed for our stay, it is way overpriced for what they offer.

About the host

Our extended families are from Canada, USA, Germany, France, Scottland, and the Netherlands. We own and operate a third generation family business called Barn Store & Bear Country Inn. We have 4 children, 3 married - one still in university, and have been married for 30+ years. After raising our family in the USA, we took over the family business that grandfather Seigfried began in the 1940s here in Mountain View, Alberta. Jeff has a master's degree in mechanical engineering and Stephanie has certificates in hospitality and tourism management and finance. We love the outdoors and enjoy helping visitors discover the beauties and adventures in our little corner of the rockies. We live on the property connected to the store and are happy to help our guests have a comfortable stay and find their way around.

Why they chose this property

The famous Chief Mountain is our main view to the south with views to the southwest of the mountain peaks of Glacier and Waterton National Parks. We have amazingly colorful sunsets and beautiful sunrises that light up these peaks each morning and evening. Mountain View is a quiet little town in the countryside, though it is right on the main highway, and the mornings and evenings are usually very peaceful and quiet.

What makes this property unique

Located on the corner next to the country store, and across the highway from the church and school, the home is very easy to find and close to food and fuel. The house is clean and spacious with comfortable beds and a beautiful yard for star-gazing, but nothing fancy. The bathroom is small with a tub/shower, small sink, and toilet. The house does not have AC, but has ceiling fans, and the main level stays fairly cool in the heat of the summer due to the cool basement underneath.
