Would Book Again!

This Colonial Beach house is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and has a great view of the water. The additional bedrooms in the guestroom are helpful for a large family. For those like us, who book this home during the cold months, the space is great for family games, reading, and general relaxation. There is a Walmart about 20-25 minutes away. We found the owners proactive and responsive when we experienced an unfortunate, but very uncommon situation with the rental property. We would consider booking again, anticipating an immaculately cleaned, well-maintained, and appropriately stocked rental.

Family reunion

Home was perfect. Plenty of space, everything you’d need, and beautiful location. The yard and view of the lake was ideal. Would be great if you could swim, but couldn’t due to jellyfish (though some did swim for a bit without problems). Very nice hiking and historic sites close by. Would highly recommend. Thank you, Hope! (Oh. And though was not expecting a hot tub, getting that in working order would be a wonderful addition!)

Great stay!

We really enjoyed our stay! We had multiple families and kids ranging from newborn to 18 and everyone had a blast. The owners were awesome with the communication! The only down faults ( which is no fault of the owners) were that is was jellyfish mating season so the water wasn’t swimmable. The teens still jumped in a few times but were stung multiple times. Also there is no where local to rent a boat. You have to go an hour away to rent a boat and getting back to the house would not be a quick trip. Other then that it was a great stay, very relaxing. The kayaks and paddle boards were used so much. Fishing was good. And the house is simply beautiful and so spacious. The town was fun and local beaches were cute and quiet. Great stay overall!

Beautiful home for a great family vacation

We were extremely pleased with the accommodations. The house is very nice, has plenty of space and decorated beautifully. We were far enough from town to be able to enjoy the piece and quite but close enough to be at the beach within 10 minutes. The water was calm enough for plenty of kayaking and paddle boarding. We fished quite a bit but only caught one catfish but he was a keeper. We pulled out one of the crab pots but only got one crab the entire week but the kids loved checking it quite often. The only negatives were found was the lack of fans and TVs in the bedrooms. We cooked in a lot and there werent enough pots and pans. Luckily we had people come at different times so we had people bring some. Overall we highly recommend you stay at this home.

Entering the property

Email was not sent to instruct us on how to enter we also had a AC problem but was handled in a timely manner. Also outdoor grill needs maintenance. But the home was very roomy for five couples and appliances where excellent.

Great place, amazing view

Our friend group really enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of space for cooking, eating, and hanging out. We spent a lot of time outside hanging out by the water and around the fire pit. There were stores nearby to go shop for things needed. The only critique is that the cleanliness in some areas of the house could have been better. Overall, it was a nice place.

Fabulous Place

I cannot say enough great thing about our stay here. We have now found our favorite place to stay at Colonial Beach. We loved every minute of it. We never wanted to leave the house. Perfect for every age! We hope to go back next year. You will not be disappointed this place is awesome!!!!

All we needed

This home and location provided a beautiful and peaceful space for 9 family members. The access to dock fishing/kayaking/paddle boards was entertainment enough for each day. We were blessed with wonderful weather all week. The only downsides were jellyfish stings and an a/c unit that kept the house too cold. Other than that, it was pretty close to perfect.

This was a great vacation for our family to truly unplug.

The layout of the house was perfect for 10 adults and 4 kids (all under the age of 3). Having everything on one floor ensured that the children were safe. The open layout allowed for lots of play and relaxation. There were plenty of toys there to keep the kids busy. Those who wanted to get away for a little peace and quiet had the guest house space available. The large kitchen and outdoor grilling area provided enough space for lots of cooking to take place for our large group. There were plenty of utensils, plates, cups, etc for everyone. They even have kid friendly plates and utensils available. Each bedroom had ample space for adults and children. The decor, in general, is simple and modern. The 5 bathrooms are well designed and had just enough towels for our group. The central air was delightful after spending time outside in the 90+ degree heat. While outside, we utilized the fire pit, the paddle boards, the kayaks, and the fenced-in lawn. The water was very quiet and calm. There were rarely any other people out. We did not swim in the water, as it was very brown. Between the view, the water, the space, and the televisions we did not need the internet. A few members of our group did end up using their hotspots in order to do some work while we were there. While the town itself leaves much to be desired, we did end up at Ice House Brewery for some food and trivia on Thursday night. A few members of our group also found the beach in the town to be a nice place to spend an hour or two. We also ventured ten minutes down the road to Ingelside Winery for some snacks and wine. George Washington’s birthplace was a nice place to visit and walk around. Having the Food Lion and an ABC store only a few minutes away made grocery shopping easy. We recommend this house for large groups, especially with children, who are looking to spend some quality time together.

Great family stay

We celebrated 60, 35 and 30 year anniversaries. the house was perfect for the three couples in the main house and 20 year olds in the guest house. Plenty of space for privacy and group games and dinners. Corn hole, fishing off the dock , kayaks and paddle boards were put to good use. Furniture and decorations were gorgeous and comfy. Only small issues :Wifi was not strong at all, but we used hot spots . Main house hot water was a problem on the 2nd day, we had to reset the tankless water heater. which helped . House could use a blender - but we used the magic bullet for small batches of margaritas. Great yard , view, neighbors. Everyone felt the house was awesome !

Great stay

Great host. We had a great time at the house. The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The place was quiet, super clean, spacious and calming. We enjoyed the kayaks, fishing, grilling .... it was really great experience. Would definitely visit again.

Amazing property!!!

After seeing the listing, we were scared it to was too good to be true. Once we arrived though, we were blown away by the beauty of the interiors and the views!! The property is magnificent! Literally our only comment for future renters is that the water has jellyfish so swimming wasnt ideal. Other than that, we would absolutely come back!

Peaceful!

This is a lovely home with kind and very responsive owners. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and has a kitchen to die for. There's a kid's room with toys, large windows with beautiful views, a guest house big enough for an army and lots of sitting areas for watching TV or reading. The outside area was well maintained and has plenty of seating on the patio/ grill area, more around the firepit and even more on the dock. We didn't take advantage but cornhole and a Foosball table were available in the garage. The water isn't very deep around the dock but enough for the kiddos to jump in and swim. The area was perfect for wading in with kayaks and paddle boards (provided). Two of our kiddos got stung by jellyfish but it didn't deter anyone from going in again and again! If you're a birder, this place is perfect for you. On our checkout day we had a bit of car trouble so even though we'd removed all of our items from the house we hung out in the driveway a bit and had the chance to meet the cleaning crew. They were so nice and got straight to work getting beds made and sanitizing. We ventured out to Bobby K's Roadside Cafe one afternoon after hiking at Westmoreland State Park and seeing George Washington's birth place. The food, the variety, the service was all wonderful. We'd highly recommend! We were happy to feel so far away from everything but really close enough to groceries, restaurants and history. This quiet home is the only one on the point that is a rental so we were able to meet a couple of the neighbors and they were all very kind as well! We'd recommend renting this home to families of all ages. There's something for everyone.

Relaxing and perfect for families!

The home was beyond our expectations and much bigger then the pictures show. All ages loved the dock and paddle boarding. The adults really enjoyed the kitchen and grill area. Kids, teens, adults were very comfortable in the well appointed guest rooms. Correspondence with the owners was fast and helpful.

Beautiful home

We found the home to be exactly as portrayed, kitchen is to die for!! Home is outfitted nicely, extra space to spread out. The teens were in the extra house and loved having their own space. I packed toys for my daughter but she didn’t touch them bc the kids room had a great selection of toys!! The view from the many large windows were very pretty. If you are looking for a very quiet, relaxing vacation this home does not disappoint. Owners were available and extremely helpful throughout our stay!

Fun Time on a Quiet River
