Depot House

We loved staying at the Depot House on the 2nd floor. We had the whole floor to ourselves. We were close enough to Chattanooga that we stayed busy with activities there and in the surrounding area. Fishing was on the list at the lake near the house. The host was fantastic and very accommodating. The house itself was beautiful and peaceful. We are thinking about a trip in the fall to view the leaves. If you love old homes, you will love the Depot House.

Really Peaceful and Lovely

Beautiful home and so well-cared for. Very clean and nicely decorated. Close to a public ramp if you like to fish, and close to Chattanooga for entertainment and dining. Everything we needed was provided and our host was kind, helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

Historical Beauty

Beautiful, clean and enjoyable. Property went the extra mile stocking provisions and everything a guest needs. Tight stairs, but lighting and handrail so no problems for us.

Family Reunion

We had wonderful accommodations at this lovely home. The bedrooms are large with ample space to spread out. The bathroom is huge and our party of six had plenty of room to get ready for the day. Melinda made sure we had everything we needed from toiletries to snacks and breakfast items. Would definitely recommend!

Loved it!!!

We had a great time. This beautiful historic home was clean, beautiful, and provided all we needed. This is not a set up for rowdy or active children. (There is a quiet time request to respect downstairs owners) (All linens are spotless clean white! ) supplied water (bottled), snacks, keurig with great choices of coffee blends, fruit, etc. The area was quaint, beautiful and we didnt want to leave Soddy Creek Gulf. Melinda is a great hostess. We loved her!

Fantastic host and property

The lit lanterns on the porch and the nice touches in the apartment made this a special rental. The drive to all of the attractions was short, and drinking coffee on the porch was fabulous. On our second night the air went out and even though it was after 9:00 p.m., Melinda was easy to get ahold of as we tried to get the air conditioner working. When that didn't work, she tried to get us another room close by, insisting we could not stay in a hot apartment. Although it was late at night and she had other situations she needed to deal with, she was wonderful, kind, and extremely helpful. When we come back to the area, we will definitely book again! Thanks so much, Melinda. We are grateful and are thinking of you during your time of loss.

Cozy get-away

I can’t say enough about this stay. We both had to work one day out of the residence and had so much space to spread out and not be in each other’s way. I normally do not like fans above my head, but luckily the bedroom we chose was quiet and I barely noticed. The rooms all had white noise machines. The bathroom was spacious. Everything smelled freshly laundered. The nicest of hosts had messaged me the information I needed ahead of time. There were small toiletries in case anything was forgotten and the little kitchenette was fully stocked with water, snacks, and coffee and tea. This was incredibly thoughtful and we took advantage after our long drive that first day & during our work day. We ended up needing an umbrella that was thoughtfully left by the door. It was the most relaxing stay away from home we’ve had in this country. Fantastic!

Perfect place to unplug.

There isn’t enough space to cover everything we loved about this place! Every single detail was taken care of—above and beyond. Communication was excellent, and we never had to question anything because everything was laid out, with photos to explain. As soon as we arrived, we felt all the peace and calm. There is also the huge bonus of no TVs anywhere. The decor is so perfectly fitting for this historic home. We loved the reading and writing nooks in each of our rooms, and the beds were so comfortable! Everything was extremely clean, and the neighborhood/town felt very safe for our girls’ weekend getaway. If you love to read, if you are a writer, or if you just need to unplug and rest, this is the perfect place! However, if you love to hike, this is also your place. There are beautiful trails all around, and one is probably only four minutes away. I was a little worried about not having a full kitchen, but the owner had snacks, drinks, and some breakfast items waiting for us. We got by just fine with the coffee maker, microwave, and mini fridge. There are great restaurants nearby in Hixton as well. We will definitely be staying there again. What a lovely weekend!

A dream rental

The Depot was absolutely perfect for our stay! It was beautiful, clean and the owner, Melinda, made us feel so welcome. First, the rooms are massive and gorgeous! There were just two of us, and it felt almost wasteful that we didn’t have others with us to enjoy the space! (In fact, I texted my sister and cousin and we decided we should make a road trip to meet there for a girls weekend someday.) The bed was like a cloud with the softest sheets and a super comfortable mattress. (I was in the tan room.) It was SO quiet - I heard a train in the distance twice and the pretty sound of birds singing in the day, but that was it! I slept so well!! The bathroom is huge, and the deep tub was fantastic for soaking after a long day. Melinda provided a wonderful selection of snacks, breakfast food and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. Melinda thought of everything we might need. In addition to the standard reasons that someone would want to stay at this lovely rental, it would also be perfect for those who want a retreat, such as a getaway for an individual or couple who want a quiet place to take time for themselves. As for me, I’m looking forward to booking it for that future girls trip, when we can shop in Chattanooga, hike the local trails and enjoy time with each other. I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you, Melinda!! A few other random points: - the sitting area on the porch is so pretty and homey - everything in the rental is clean, and everything smells nice, too - for future renters…if you’re trying to stay local and want delicious food, visit Ricko’s Pizza. We saw they were highly rated on Yelp, but we probably wouldn’t have stopped there otherwise, as it looks like a bit of a dive. Well worth the stop! We ate there twice, and the food and service were excellent! They were doing a brisk carryout business while we were there, so it’s clearly popular.

Fantastic gem in a historic house

This place is a hidden gem just far enough outside of Chattanooga to have peace and quiet and close enough to eat out for dinner if you want. It is exquisitely clean and well stocked with snacks, drinks, coffee, and even breakfast items. The owner has put a lot of thought into this place. Beds are comfortable and we would come back again if in the area. Don't miss the Big Soddy Daisy Creek Gulf Trail. It is beautiful.

Perfect!

Staying in this beautiful historic home just outside Chattanooga was simply perfect. Plenty of good restaurants and shopping within 15 minutes. Downtown activities just a little further and easily available. Spotlessly clean, well appointed with comfortable furniture that felt like we were transported back in time without feeling like a museum. Original home was built in early1900's and all appropriate updates have been done well. Very comfortable beds and linens. Plenty of nice touches with a quality selection of available toiletries, a huge stack of clean towels and a lovely soaking tub provided everything we needed. Fresh flowers in every room. The kitchenette was fully stocked with snacks and breakfast foods, there must have been 50 Keurig choices! The owner was very friendly and seemed genuinely concerned for us that we would enjoy her unique and comfortable home. This place gets all the stars and I would not hesitate staying there in the future. In fact, look forward to it!
