The "Tree House" is located on a safe and quiet street (Winnipeg Place) in the historic district of Bluff Heights, an artsy, hip, LGBTQ+ and family friendly neighborhood. If you like Craftsman California Bungalow, custom and historical homes, this is the place. The charm of the many classic Craftsman style houses of our neighborhood frequently draws film crews for TV and movie filming.
We are near the corner of 3rd st and Obispo and an easy walking distance to the 4rth St. Retro-Row specialty shops and restaurants as well as those on 2nd street, Belmont Shore. Within a couple blocks guests can walk to shops, spas, restaurants and bars including The Attic, Starling Diner, La Parolaccia, and the Belmont Brewing Company. Wine lovers will enjoy tastings at the local wine store, The Wine Crush (one block away). On weekends, enjoy the local farmers markets and during the summer the free outdoor concerts at Bixby Park and free outdoor movies at the beach. Water taxis are available at the nearby Belmont Pier taking you to Shoreline Village, downtown and more.
The nightlife in downtown is a short bike or car ride away. The boardwalk and bike paths along the entire stretch of the Long Beach oceanfront begins just 3 blocks away.
There are numerous nearby places to rent bikes (regular and electric) and scooters.
Here is some additional travel information:
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION --
We are one block away from bus stops connecting to Downtown, convention center and the light rail train/subway to downtown LA, Hollywood, Pasadena, Universal Studios and the LAX airport.
Public transport in downtown Long Beach is readily available (connecting downtown to the Queen Mary, Shoreline Village, the Pike, the Aquarium of the Pacific and other attractions). Water taxis (Aqua Link and AquaBus) operate seasonally departing from the nearby Belmont Pier and fees vary.
For information on the light rail/subway service to downtown Los Angeles see the MTA website.
WALKING -- Long Beach is pedestrian friendly. We are located within walking distance to an amazing array of art galleries and museums, cafes and restaurants, unique shops, nightlife, theater, the beach and every water activity.
DRIVING -- Easy access to 4 major local freeways. We are conveniently located between LAX (25 minutes), Orange-County SNA airport (20 minutes) and Long Beach airport (5 minutes)
BEACHES. We are located near 3rd Street and Redondo, about 3 blocks from the beach. A short walk or bike ride in the summer will help you avoid the hassle of beach parking and then you can return to the peace and quiet here. We are not far (10-25 mi) from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world (Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Huntington, Newport, Laguna) but you will need a car for these.
LOS ANGELES. If this is your first visit to Southern California and you intend to travel to see the sights, you should know that the sites in Los Angeles are spread out and it is very useful to have a car. Popular day trips for our guests are Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Venice Beach. San Diego and Palm Springs, Catalina Island and Santa Barbara also make for easy side trips.
The Long Beach CONVENTION CENTER is 1.8 miles away and can easily be reached by bike, on foot, or local bus if you would like to avoid parking fees. My suggestion: walk 10 min to Ocean Boulevard and catch the bus 121. ($1.25) to downtown (there is a stop right at the Convention Center) or take a $5 Uber from here and avoid the parking hassle.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the main house in the front of this large double lot and are available if you have any questions, but will respect your privacy otherwise.
The two houses feel quite separate and private separated by trees and foliage.
