About this property

The Mercantile at Mad Peak Lodging, sleeps up to four.

The Black Hills National Forest offers many great views and the rising sun from this location is the best!

Centrally located between the northern and southern hills with the many historic places and activities, this location is the perfect place to rest and regroup for the next adventure. This unit will sleep two in a king bed on the main floor and two in a full bed in the loft. Each of our units have a kitchenette with all the place settings and flatware needed to enjoy a light meal between excursions. There is a hot plate, a pizza cooker, toaster, and coffee maker. With the microwave and the dishwasher, meal prep should be a snap. There is a private entrance and a 3/4 bath. Parking is available directly in front of the unit. Extra parking for hauling rigs is available on the southern sides of the driveway.

Check-in is any time after 4pm the day of your scheduled arrival. Check-out time is any time before 11am, mountain time.

It is not necessary to meet anyone to obtain access or keys and allows you the freedom to depart according to your travel schedule. The access key for this unit will be in the check-in details which will be sent before your reservation.

Located near Lead/Deadwood with easy access to Sturgis (30min), Spearfish (30min), Rapid City (45min), Mt Rushmore (60min), and Crazy Horse (80min), to name a few.

Parking is directly at the front of the unit which can accommodate up to two vehicles and/or trailers. Additional parking is at the southern end of the property.

Visit our Mad-Peak website to book your UTV rentals, call us to get a UTV rental discount for staying with us, or you are welcome to bring your own recreational machine, UTV or snowmobile. Mad Peak Lodging is located in the heart of the Black Hills forest with easy access to the many miles of UTV/Jeep trails for outdoor adventures and, in the winter, located right on snowmobile trail #7 which connects to over 350 miles of snowmobiling fun!

Upon departure, take out the trash, start any dishes, return the key, and lock the door.

**** GREAT LOCATION FOR SNOWMOBILING**** Mad Peak is right on Trail #7; the trail actually goes right over the driveway. We have plenty of room for parking trailers. Don't have a sled? There are snowmobile rentals around just south of the location around the corner. We get a lot of snow and the State maintains 350+ miles of groomed trails.....Come Enjoy Winter With Us!!

Only spent one night as we got to the hills late and were gone by lunch the next day. We didnt utilize all it had to offer but it was clean, well decorated and furnished and the beds were comfortable. Great location right off 385. Would stay again. Thanks Tim

Great place

This was the perfect stay for a nice getaway. Its exactly how it is in the pictures amd had everything we needed. The owners were super helpful and answeed questions, responded to texts and even stopped by when we did have a question to make sure it was resolved. Super friendly and willing to let us have a lste checkout as well which worked out since we didnt have to be at our wedding until later! Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again!

So Perfect!

The theme is so fun! We stayed during the Sturgis Rally and actually got some sleep! The beds were amazing, the setup is so spacious, all the amenities you could possibly need and the location was amazing! So quiet and fun to see the wildlife in the area. We came out from CA and loved everything about The Mercantile! The owners are also so friendly and communicative. Looking forward to staying here again for future rallies!!

Riding the trails

This was the perfect spot to stay and had everything we needed. Great location to just leave to ride the trails or head into Deadwood for some dinner. They’ve thought of all the details and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Since I live in my little piece of heaven, I enjoy sharing the Black Hills with our many guests. There are so many options for entertainment and outdoor activities in the area that is it hard to know where to start. From hiking and visiting Mt. Rushmore, to snow adventures and ATVing, to water play and fishing, picnicking and exploring water falls, to gaming and live shows, wine tasting and dining, the list goes on.

Why they chose this property

Come enjoy The Mercantile with direct access to state highway 385. This unit is centrally located between most of the Black Hills main attractions; not far from Spearfish and Sturgis, located just south of Deadwood/Lead and north of Mt. Rushmore, Custer, and Hill City. The Mercantile can accommodate two vehicles directly in front of the unit, and has a large parking area for large vehicles and trailers at the other end of the property.
