About this property
Private Oceanfront Oasis with Spectacular Views
Luxury oceanfront home with two large decks, nestled into the national seashore with 100 undeveloped acres on the east side, and the open ocean to the south for unobstructed ocean views.
This house is private, a combination of Fire Island’s rugged natural beauty and top-end accommodations at the end of a dead-end path. There is no foot traffic past the house and the views are wild and undisturbed. The beach is a three-minute walk away, and the bay another few minutes’ walk to the ferry terminal and marina. Two minutes away is the Shack, known for its summer-time live music, excellent food and cold drinks.
The amazing decks (each bedroom has a deck with ocean views) are mahogany, which means smooth hardwood under your feet, not the splintery softwood used on so many outdoor decks. The inside floors are bamboo, which feels so nice and cool on bare feet.
There is a hot tub on the second floor outside the master bedroom and a steam unit in the oversize marble bathroom. You can lie in bed and watch the moon rise over the ocean. Each of the three bedrooms boasts its own deck, and the loft sleeps one or two more people on a pull-out couch. There are two full baths upstairs.
The house has central heat and air conditioning, with ceiling fans in the bedrooms. The whole house and lower deck are wired for sound, with excellent speakers in all rooms and a Sonos sound system, meaning that you can play the same music in every room, or choose different music for different rooms.
Being right on the ocean, you will have cool ocean breezes in every room.
Downstairs, there is another bedroom with a twin bed, a half-bath, and a gourmet kitchen. There is also a wet bar with a wine refrigerator and ice-maker, perfect for whipping up mojitos or margaritas as the sun goes down. The kitchen has a big marble island, with all the pots, pans and cooking equipment you could want. If it gets chilly at night, there is a fireplace and plenty of firewood.
Outside is a new Weber BBQ grill with endless propane. There is a fat-tire beach wagon for trips to the store or the beach, and all the umbrellas, beach chairs and accessories you could want.
Views abound from every room. You can literally sit at the bar sipping a glass of wine, and grab the binoculars to spot passing whales and dolphins in the ocean.
If you have not been to Fire Island before, there are some special things to consider. First, you can't drive here. Instead, you park in Bay Shore and take a ferry or water taxi to the local dock. We will arrange to have someone pick you up if necessary to bring you and your bags to the house. And finally, there are no grocery stores within a mile, so you need to walk to the shops in Ocean Beach or have them deliver. On the other hand, if you have a boat you can dock or moor it right near the house! We have a slip ready and waiting for you.
