About this property

New! ‘Whale’s Tale’ Beach Retreat on Whidbey- Views & Miles of Beach Next Door

**New Listing ** Welcome to Whale’s Tale Retreat, your coastal home away from home! Located on the sunny west side of Whidbey Island in the neighborhood of Lagoon Point where we get less than half the rain of Seattle, our newly updated beach house sits on a 2/3 acre park like yard with the beach just across the street. There are views of the Admiralty Inlet, Lagoon, Olympic mountains and Canal from nearly every window in the house!

Being avid travelers ourselves, we wanted to create a vacation home that included as many of the details and amenities that we hope for when we travel. Minimal coastal decor and curated furniture create a peaceful retreat from the distractions of daily life. Oversized windows combined with warm white interiors create a bright home even on the rare gloomy days.

The home was thoughtfully designed with families in mind with available toys, space to play, safety gates, pack n play, sound machine and minimal things to break. We’re ready for you parents of little people.

For older kids and adults young at heart we’ve got kites, bikes, trees to climb, bean bag toss, bocce ball, basket and soccer balls.

Bike or stroll around the quiet, flat streets of the neighborhood. There is so much to look at. Take a walk along miles of beach right outside your front lawn. Bring your fishing poles and fish for salmon right off the beach. Lagoon Point is known as one of the best fishing and whale watching beaches on the island.

If lounging is what you prefer, we’ve got cozy spots inside as well as two decks, lounge chairs overlooking the yard and a hammock for cloud watching. Enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine while you watch lingering sunsets and deer prance by from your living room and upper deck. There are books, board games, and puzzles available along with a wood stove to keep warm on those cooler nights.

Need to work from home while traveling? No problem. We’ve got reliable high speed internet and a movable desk that can be set up in a bedroom or living space.

We have made sure guests with low mobility are comfortable by having a queen sized bedroom with its own tv, bathroom with walk-in shower and kitchen all on the first floor for less time up and down the stairs.

Here are more specs on the house itself:

**The house has a Covid/Virus ionizing air filtration system from RFG**

1600 sq ft
3 bedrooms- 2 with hotel grade queen beds, 1 with twin sized bunk beds and trundle
2 bathrooms- one with walk in shower and 1 with a bathtub shower combination
Indoor dining area with spacious table for 8
Outdoor dining area for 6-8
Upstairs living room with seating for 10
One pull-out memory foam full size sleeper sofa in living room

We have a full kitchen with that includes pots, pans, wine opener, coffee pot, grinder, French press, double waffle maker, electric kettle, blender, popcorn popper and so much more.

*For those with allergies: Our small dog does occasionally frequent the house so we are not 100% hypoallergenic. We never allow him on the furniture.

Lagoon Point is located 25 minutes north of the Clinton ferry. It is conveniently close to many of the attractions on the island. South Whidbey State Park is just 4 minutes down the road for great hiking. Take a stroll or dine at Greenbank Farm, less than 10 minutes away. Explore the old barracks at nearby Fort Casey or hop onto the Port Townsend ferry for a day trip/dinner. Coupeville, Freeland, Bayview, and Langley are all close by for shopping and entertainment. We’ll have a list of restaurants and local winery/brewery favorites available.

*We are committed to caring for our beautiful Salish Sea and the creatures that call it home. Our local endangered orca whales called the “southern residents” need all the support we can give. A portion of our proceeds go to whale research. Visit the Langley Whale Center to learn more about our resident whales.

Fabulous property!

Girls weekend on Whidbey and the property was WAY more than we hoped for. The decor was lovely - period appropriate without being kitschy, and so comfortable and well thought out. The house is stocked perfectly with everything you could need for a weekend or a week. Comfortable beds, beautiful views, and close to the beach. We hope to bring our families back in the summer!

Amazing hosts, perfect house for our Whidbey stay!

We stayed with four adults and two teenagers over Thanksgiving, and had a wonderful time! Christina was an amazing host, with excellent communication and so many thoughtful, special touches throughout the very clean and well decorated home… We felt completely welcomed from the moment we arrived! House instructions were simple and so clear, with a perfectly laid out guide to the house sent digitally beforehand and present in the home when we got there… The woodstove is awesome, and the second floor living space is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends. Beautiful clean home, comfy beds, and all the kitchen gadgets we needed, even for the holiday meal. One small note that we must’ve missed in the description, there is no dishwasher… but it was no big deal. Extras like bikes and kites were a bonus, and the location is a perfect hopping off place for both ends of the island. Thx Cristina and Will!

Wedding weekend

Our family rented the Whale’s Tale house for the weekend. We had 5 adults and 2 kids. There was plenty of room for all of us. The upstairs living room was the most impressive with so much room and the stunning view! The house was well appointed and you really do not need to bring a thing. Toys for the kids, great play set, big yard and so close to the beach!! I would definitely recommend this house and hope to stay again!

Peaceful, well-appointed vacation home

We enjoyed a two-night stay with family members ranging in age from 12-78, and were happily surprised to arrive to gifts appealing to all. The kids were touched: “do they know us?” :) Some of us are light sleepers and have spent 12 years lugging blackout curtains and sound machines on vacation. It was so nice to truly have everything we needed even for the kids on the property…the hosts have truly thought of everything! Both the grounds and home are beautifully planned and decorated. Beds, couches, linens, and chairs are high quality and comfortable. Everyone slept well. The neighborhood is friendly and quiet, the yard enormous, the play set and hammock entertaining, and the patio perfectly equipped for lounging, reading, or eating with a fire pit, patio table, and wonderful Adirondack rocking chairs. The short walk to the beach, and frequent deer and eagle sightings, thrilled our guests from Florida. If you have a family member who cannot walk up stairs, getting from the kitchen and lower bedroom to the living room and upper bedrooms is too difficult. But for everyone else, this place is heaven. Thank you!
