Not horrible and not amazing - Inexpensive and my kids had fun but some pretty serious issues
The pluses of this trip were: -The cottage was clean and had all appliances including a microwave -Fire pit area was semi enclosed -Cute swing seats to relax on and screened outdoor eating area -At the end of the day, my kids did have fun but there were some significant issues. The issues we had were: -The well water smelled quite bad - we have stayed elsewhere with well water and are aware that it often has a bit of an earthy smell. We have NEVER run into this problem, the stench of sulphur was so intense and got worse with time so that by the 3rd day it was difficult to even do dishes without feeling nauseous. We definitely weren't able to shower. -The "pull out couch" was actually a folding cot that was quite small -We did not find out that the cottage we had rented had been switched until we called to find out where to park when we arrived. It was not a major issue as the cottages are basically identical. -We were not greeted by anyone in person and did not interact with anyone in person at any time. The property manager was available by text message on the second day and tried to be helpful. -The designated swimming area was available to us but it was made clear (kindly and politely) by residents on the street that a play raft/mat that took up half of the swimmable area was not to be used by our children. This is understandable as they've invested $$ in it, and had past issues with renters but was still disappointing. -When I reached out to the owner saying that we had left early, she offered a one night credit for future rentals. When I explained about the very truly smelly (sulphur) water, she did not respond to messages. Again, it wasn't horrible and if the well were taken care of (which I assume it will be) it would have been a lot more enjoyable. I would not rent here again though.

We are family of 4 from Toronto West Ontario. We have travelled almost all the provincial parks in Ontario. Then we chose the beautiful Kawartha Lakes area for our cottage location since it no far from Toronto and there are a few provincial parks within 1 hour driving distance. Plus we can swimming, kayaking, boating, fishing in the beautiful Sturgeon lake. Sturgeon lake has enriched fish spices for fishing lovers.

Why they chose this property

The cottages made the south shore of Sturgeon Lake a go-to destination in the 1940’s. That’s when the Greenhurst Pavilion dance floor thundered at night and the Sturgeon Point regatta made the day genteel. For generations, families have listened to loons bring in the evening, watched gorgeous sunsets slip into the water, and added their laughter and memories to Parkview's laid back history. Seventy years later, Parkview continues its housekeeping cottage legacy. Our spacious property has century-old towering cedars, multiple docks, a small beach, 3 firepits, swings and an air-hocky table. Jump off the dock, cast out your line, or sit in the shade with a beverage. A lakeside bonfire pit is ready for your songs, marshmallows, and conversation. Parkview is not luxurious. If that’s what you’re after, rent a Muskoka condo. Parkview is rural Ontario rustic. Our cozy cottages give you a place to escape from the hectic, fast-paced bustle of everyday life. Each rustic cottage comes with a linens, fridge, stove, BBQ Grill, and loaded kitchen, including pots, pans, and dishes—but it’s bring your own towels and personal supplies. Just what you need for a relaxing week of getting back to basics. And don’t forget a well-loved deck of cards, your trusty rod, grandad’s lucky lures, and a slow-way-down-to-lounge mentality.
