About this property

Waterfront House - Endless Lake Fun in all Seasons. 1 mile to Okemo Chairlifts!

This incredibly unique house sits hanging over the edge of Lake Rescue in Ludlow. It offers a large deep-water dock (between May and late October), floating swim dock, 180 degree lake views from inside and from the large deck that runs the length of property. The house sits one mile from Okemo and Jackson Gore, making it perfectly situated for easy skier-drop-off and pick-up (to beat parking situation at mountain!)

The house has 3 Bedrooms (one master with Queen, one guest with two twin beds (that can be pushed together as well), one guest with a pair of bunk beds (4 kids). This house is clean and well-cared for / maintained. This is not a "high end ski-motif-perfection" cabin-vibe house - but rather a genuine VT ski-house / lake house vibe.

As you sit in the main room (downstairs), you look out and see 180 degrees of lake about 8 feet below you. It's even beautiful on a rainy day!

The right renters:
It is a unique house that offers a lot for adults or families that love outdoor activities. We are mindful about WHO will be renting, so we like to have a phone conversation with prospective renters (the first time) to talk about safety and rules (life jackets for kayaks, using and caring for the hot tub, etc.). It is not going to be a great house for those with small toddlers (ie with deck and lake right there), or for elderly guests who may not want to go up the stairs several times a day back to the driveway.

Rental Includes:
- Lifejackets (required for kayaking / paddle boarding)
- 2 kayaks
- 2 Kids' Kayaks
- 2 paddle boards
- Adirondack chairs
- Hot Tub (rules apply)

I will be adding more photos soon to show the bedrooms and bathrooms (all current photos I have show our kids in them....), but a quick description is that they are clean and well cared for, 'no-frills' and simple / straightforward rooms.

PLEASE NOTE: This house is NOT a good house for those with trouble going up and down stairs, simply because of how it sits on the lake - i.e. you pull in the driveway to the house, but the house is not visible because the top of the house sits BELOW the level of the driveway, and you get to the house by walking down the stairs from the driveway. It isn't super far, but definitely not ideal for anyone with difficulty walking, etc.

Family treasure
I almost didn’t want to leave a review to keep this gem as our secret. It is truly special. It felt like a cross between being in a boat and treehouse, because you’re so close to the water but also nestled in the birch trees. The house was super clean, well-stocked, cozy yet enough room for everyone to spread out. It was cloudy/drizzling most of our days there but we still had a great time going on the lake in the kayaks and paddle boards, and it was just as beautiful from inside the house, looking out onto the lake and green mountains beyond. The lake itself was generally quiet with just an occasional water skier or pontoon going by in the afternoons. The owners were super helpful orienting us and available for a couple minor issues - thank you! We truly hope to return.

My wife and I recently bought this house from my in-laws, who had owned it for 40 years. My wife grew up coming here, and for the last 15 years we've loved having our own kids here and they've loved their time at the lake, both winter and summer.

Why they chose this property

Easy to love this "neighborhood" as the house sits on beautiful Lake Rescue, making this "ski house" also a lake house, which means it is an awesome destination well after the snow has melted.

What makes this property unique

The house is ON the lake - and was grandfathered in as such. If you were to build a new house on the lake, it needs to be back >150 feet, but at this house, you can enjoy a cocktail while sitting on the deck with the lake right under you.
