Great stay

We recently stayed here with my older parents and young children, and it was perfect for all ages! The kids especially loved the lofted space and hot tub, while my parents enjoyed the large dining table, which was great for family games and meals together. The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, making it easy to prepare family meals. The location was ideal—just outside of town for a peaceful atmosphere, but still easily accessible to downtown. We also appreciated how close it was to great hiking trails and beautiful spots for leaf peeping. Overall, a wonderful stay for a multi-generational family getaway!

Great place to stay

The cabin was the best of both worlds. It was close to everything that you want to do in Durango, Silverton, etc…, but far enough away to enjoy a peaceful moment on the porch. The view wants were great and always responded to our questions. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for quiet place to stay.

Lovely cabin getaway

Loved staying at this wonderful cabin just outside of town. Easy access to and from town, but still secluded enough to get away from it all. We enjoyed the outdoor gated deck in the front, as well as the back sitting area by the hot tub. Will definitely be back!

Perfect family getaway

The house is newly rennovated, well appointed, and a fantastic place for kids (ages 10 and 12). It's close enough to town to be convenient but far enough away to feel like you are staying in a cabin in the woods. The hottub was our favorite part!

Adorable mountain cabin

Comfy, cozy, cute cabin! We loved this place! The location was great with a view of red cliffs from the hot tub. Plenty of space to spread out for bed with fun spaces to share family time as well. Couldn't ask for more.

Beautiful Stay within Reach to All the Right Stuff

We had a great week here catching the end of ski season at Purgatory with fresh powder, enjoying the Durango Hot Springs just down the road, and eating some great meals whether homecooked, downtown Durango, and at James Ranch nearby. The backyard hot tub at the end of a day on the slopes is a particular highlight. Definitely would be a great place in the spring or summer as well, for hikes and other fair weather adventures. Well designed space that allowed for some remote work amidst the fun, too. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Cabin

The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed to be comfortable, cook and relax! The scenery is absolutely beautiful, lots of deer and still some fall color on the trees. The location is convenient to Durango with a great grocery store and liquor store very close by. We didn’t expect neighbors to be so close but not a big deal. Also, we were disappointed that we couldn’t use the fire pit. Overall, a great property!!

Beautiful- they've thought of everything!

Would absolutely rebook at Camp Middle Bear! The owners have truly thought of everything and no expense has been spared to make this a top notch little cabin. Beautiful surroundings (a bit closer to the road than the pictures imply, but totally not an issue- very quiet), perfectly equipped home, ideal distance from the mountain/Durango- I could go on and on. Wouldn't hesitate to return and we highly, highly recommend- you won't be disappointed! Thank you Camp Middle Bear for a great home away from home and wonderful memories!

Perfect Family Getaway!

Camp Middle Bear was the perfect spot for our family trip to Durango, and its obvious that the property owners have invested a lot of time and energy into making sure that their guests are comfortable. Not only is the cabin beautifully decorated, but its also stocked with everything you might need for a family getaway, including plenty of board games and a hot tub with an incredible view- perfect for soaking after a long day on the trail! You also can't beat the location. We were twenty minutes from Purgatory and twenty from downtown, which allowed us to enjoy the best of both worlds. We had privacy but were also a short drive from groceries, restaurants and some great breweries. We will definitely be back!

Relaxing Gorgeous Retreat

Our stay at Camp Middle Bear was exactly what our family needed. The second we opened that front door, we knew we were in for a treat. The place is immaculately maintained and professionally decorated. The kitchen has everything you need to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for a large family. The beds are comfortable and the bedrooms are cozy. The great room in the back of the property was where our family spent most of the time. It has a gorgeous table large enough to fit 10 and you can see the beautiful mountains surrounding the house from every angle. Truly a magical stay! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some quiet time away from the crazy city life. We will absolutely book again.

Beautiful mountain home

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. With grown children and family spread out, it was such a great time to reconnect, Durango holds many memories for us. We did bring a service dog with us, and my parents that joined us for dinner brought their two dogs with them (they live in Cortez), but to our surprise we were visited by someone who said they were the property manager and told us we needed to get rid of the dogs or we needed to leave. I had no messages within the app, no email, no phone call. We were very upset by this visit and how she handled it. We were planning to rebook for two other visits in the fall and winter but, even if it was our overlooking on the booking, we felt she was not professional in how she handled things. The home is beautiful, it is the perfect spot and we enjoyed the short time we had, but unfortunately we will not be returning.

Rocked My World

What an amazing vacation we had in Durango, Colorado! From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we knew our stay was going to be wonderful. This cabin has personality, is decorated lovely, and truly makes your mountain stay feel complete. We were a family of 7 staying at this cabin which included two grandparents. The view of the mountains in the morning are wonderful and cook outs, s'mores, and hot tub made for a perfect end to the night. This cabin in our opinion is in a perfect location. A short drive to Durango and Purgatory. The host was very accommodating and helpful with local events and activities and was always available with any questions. My husband needed a quiet place to do teleconferences and there was a perfect private setup for him to be able to do a few minutes of work while on vacation. We had an amazing time and dream of coming back to visit this same cabin and Durango.

Delightful stay near Durango

We booked Camp Middle Bear for our family getaway plus my in-laws (6 of us in total). We thought the location would be great as it was outside of main part of Durango. It definitely met and exceeded those expectations. It’s just off a quiet county road just a short distance from Bar D (at which my older daughter highly recommends the chicken). The house itself had plenty of room for the six of us including a bunk bed for the kids and a nice downstairs bedroom for the in-laws. Everything was clean and it was very easy to check-in and out. My wife really liked the decor (her hobby). The hot tub was nice for relaxing in the evening and the location was great for us to get to Durango and even driving to Silverton (awesome drive btw). There is a boutique grocer and attached wine/beer store that was just a few minutes drive away which was convenient. Overall Camp Middle Bear is a great spot and will be a great memory for my family.

Perfect Family Cabin

We stayed at Camp Middle Bear for a family ski vacation. We are a family of ski with two extra kids tagging along. The house was a little tight for the 8 of us, but only because we had two giant teen boys. There were multiple sleeping options, including blow up mattresses as an extra option. We LOVED the location of this property. We have stayed in Durango previously for a ski trip and stayed in town. We much preferred this mid point location between town and Purgatory. The house is newly remodeled and well stocked with games and space for gathering. We were a little chilly, but only because we didn’t utilize the space heaters around until the last day. We thought they were fans because they looked so nice. We cooked at the house, we ordered in, the kids played in the yard, wildlife went by our window, my husband and I both worked in the adorable work space at times, and overall we really liked our stay. We would love to come back to this property in the summer.

Weekend Train Vacation

House is beautiful. We saw lots of deer. Lots of towels. There was a huge snow storm the day before we arrived. Property was without TV because it was a smart TV, and they're was no wifi available. Also, the property was freezing cold. We had a fire going all night long and mornings. Thank goodness we found some space heaters to help warm the property. The only real issue we had is we were covered in what appeared to be dog hair. All of our jackets and clothing had alot of animal hair. I personally love dogs, but I don't like dog hair covering my clothing.

Nice home near Durango

Generally this was a wonderful place to stay, but there were a few hiccups: the smart lock on the front door malfunctioned necessitating a climb through a bathroom window. The dishes weren’t very clean and many needed to be ready-washed. Other than these things the place was great!
