The cabin was nice and roomy. Beautiful view. Unfortunately the dishwasher and neither ice maker worked during our stay. It wasn't a deal breaker but was inconvenient with Thanksgiving cooking and dinner. The host was responsive and kind. We would definitely consider this property again.
We had nine people for the trip (our family of four and my wife's family visiting from Europe). Six adults and three kids (8 to 12).
This house was perfect. Plenty of room, well maintained, clean and the setting was amazing. Honestly, the pictures are beautiful and the actual views are better.
The main level has the kitchen, dining space, family room and game room with a large deck with a grill and fire pit. The lower level has 5BRs (one MBR), three bathrooms, the laundry room and a covered deck with hot tub.
The house had all the amenities (well stocked kitchen (plates, pots, pans, etc), great wifi, and the AC worked very well (too well for our guests who are not accustomed to using AC as much).
It is a steep drive to the house from the main road (I wouldn't want to do it in bad weather without 4WD), but that is pretty much expected with mountain homes.
For activities, we went to swimming off the dock/canoeing one day and another we rented a pontoon boat (shout out to Mallard Creek Marina).
My only advice/caution would be to come prepared. Butler is pretty isolated. Convenience stores will be 20+ minutes away and most restaurants further (don't expect to use DoorDash here :) ). And cellular service is VERY sparse. Again, we had great connections in the house, but once we left, we were on our own. We loved the remoteness, but if you're not prepared...
I would highly recommend the property and it is certainly a place we would love to return to.
Great views from the deck. We made good use of the pool table and hot tub. The drive up to the house is very steep. Walking to the dock is really not an option but very easy to park across from the dock and walk down. Rooms and beds were comfortable. We rented a boat, the lake is beautiful!
This is a great place to get away! The area is quiet and peaceful. The space was perfect for 8 adults! We all had a wonderful time. The property owner was very responsive and helpful in answering questions and we were prepared to be in the mountains. We would definitely visit again and I’ve shared the listing with some of our other friends.
My group booked this place because of its proximity to the Watauga- We planned to fish for a long weekend, but the weather had other plans. We spent most of our time taking in the view from the house, hanging in the massive living room, and using the hot tub. Awesome place to stay and we had a great time despite the weather!
We could not have been more happy to stay in this lovely home! The entire trip was definitely one to remember! The views were phenomenal , along with the peace and sound of nature. The host has a ''Welcome Handbook" which provides tons of details about the area and events to do etc. which was nice. Overall, the stay was awesome and we would definitely consider this trip again!! On the other hand, I wish there were curtains up on the front windows for more privacy. As other vacationers/workers/anybody arrived, they have full view of the entire Livingroom/Game Room/Kitchen. At night it is pitch dark which makes having those windows wide open extremely creepy. The only lights are those attached to homes in the area which are not helpful. I suggest do not drive at night. Some items were broken and not available for use. The TV and fan setups are not ideal; there are way too many remotes to know what goes where and some were broken. We were taken back by how the handbook requested guest to do cleaning task which should be including in the original cleaning fee that's charged. We shouldn't have to start lienings in the washer, etc. That's what the cleaning fee was for I thought. Lastly, not that it bothered us that much per se but there were dead & live stink bugs and horse flies on the floor. Other than those things, the home is functional and necessities worked so we had a good ole time! Thanks Host!

Nice but amenities that attached us were not working.
We chose this property to get away and enjoy a cozy fireplace in the mountains. Unfortunately the fireplace was not operational when we arrived. After having to have someone come and “fix” it every single day of our stay, it was never resolved, and we never got to enjoy a fireplace. The property is beautiful, nicely decorated, but it’s a bit far from grocery stores and restaurants. This was an issue when we arrived with ground coffee, and no coffee maker to use. Wish the host would have specified that the coffee machine was a Keurig Machine. Also think it’s important that the host checks on making sure things are replenished from one traveler to the next, example- dish and hand soap were extremely low. The bedrooms were decorated nicely, but some sheets were stained, which was a bit off putting. We did not use the hot tub because the water had a green tint and had a bad smell.
We spent 3 nights here and enjoyed every minute! Loved the views, the lake and the house. There isn't any restaurants or close attractions, so we made sure we had all our meals planned out before we arrived. You are close to neighbors, not as secluded as we thought but overall it was just fine and we didn't care.
I could not have asked for a better home or experience. The home was beautiful and Brett was a wonderful host. From the cleanliness to the views it could not have been better. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a one of a kind experience.
Owner was quick to respond to questions prior to arrival. House was well equipment and very clean. Our group had a great time and will stay here again.
This house combined with that spectacular view made for the perfect getaway for our group of 8! The layout of the home was great for entertaining and each bedroom having a nice view and deck access was ideal! Also, our group thoroughly enjoyed the pool table, hot tub, and fire pit! Lastly, we were impressed by how adequately stocked the kitchen was! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Gorgeous views but not clean
The only major issue is that the house was NOT cleaned at all before we arrived. There was trash on the floors, the porch was a total mess, dead bugs everywhere, ice maker was dirty. IF a cleaning crew did in fact come before our stay, they did nothing but clean toilets and wipe off the kitchen counters. There's no way it could have been professionally cleaned. But once we got over the dirtiness of the house, we enjoyed our stay and loved the pool table and the amazing views.
