Something for Everyone
We just completed our 3rd stay at magical Montario Point and this time we had the luxury of almost 2 weeks, as compared to previous 1 week stays. The house is just as described—with plenty of space and flexible sleeping space as well as a well -equipped kitchen, family room space and large eating porch (which also has 2 couches; LOVE to go out there early in the morning for the birds’ serenade). Mother Nature did not provide as much beach this year but enough for chairs /towels; There were also a few rocks to step over before getting in Lake but not a major hurdle! Also, shallow water makes it easy to cross a little outlet from Lake over to undeveloped State land where you can set up chairs, sand toys and/or walk for miles. The short walk through the woods to the beach never fails to inspire—that first glimpse of sparkling blue water as you reach the last sand dune transports one to a beautiful and peaceful place. If you tire of the beach or relaxing on the deck of the house overlooking large back yard and flower gardens (lots of bird activity including humming birds), the above-mentioned outlet from the lake leads to a quiet and meandering marsh which is perfect for kayaking. This year I saw multiple kingfishers, green and blue heron and a family of great crested flycatchers flitting about. We don’t fish, but if you do, a lot of people seem to enjoy the fishing there. Truly something for everyone at this rental! Bug spray a good idea for woods. Tom and Martha Miller

Nice summer getaway
My family and I had a great week at this property. The home is as described. There is a walk to the beach, but for most of the week hardly anyone else used the beach and it was private. We used the kayaks daily, and it was nice to have an options between the pond area and the lake. There are also miles of beach to walk if you cross a small channel of water.

Fantastic Experience
The Montario Point Lake house is a special place. The home offers abundant sleeping space and separate spaces for gathering—Inc a large deck (picnic table /umbrella and chairs plus additional seating) overlooking beautiful back yard and a wonderful screened porch —big enough to accommodate at least a dozen people for eating and also a couch and loveseat. The beach is accessed from the back yard via a short walk walk through the surrounding woods (1-2 minutes) and over a sand dune. When you first glimpse the Lake from the top of the dune it will take your breath away! Besides a great beach experience (water often shallow and many sand bars but never know how Mother Nature will sculpt the shore), there is also an outlet from the Lake that leads to a lovely and meandering marsh which is ideal for kayaking. It is peaceful beyond description and offers abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing—heron, kingfishers, cedar waxwings, warblers and flycatchers and deer to name a few. And of course, Lake O sunsets are the best in the world. How utterly amazing that we often had this beach entirely to ourselves. While it does not sit directly on the sand, you can hear the waves from the house on all but the calmest days, and the back yard is lovely and offers its own varied wildlife, which can be enjoyed from the deck and pretty fenced flower garden. This was the second time renting this property and I wouldn’t hesitate to do so again! Mary, the host, is very pleasant and accessible as well.

Large house with great beach nearby
Had a great week at the house! Very well appointed with games, two fridges, spices, utensils, etc. House is large and clean. Lots of places for people to sit and play games and eat. A short walk to a really nice beach. Spent lots of time there. The deerflies were a little daunting when walking to/from the beach...just something to be aware of. Other reviews warned of the neighbor on the left, and we did have one unwarranted, gruff interaction with her. Make sure you go outside at night and see the fireflies! So many! There is SOME A/C units but it was not enough to cool more than 2 of the bedrooms, (granted we were there on some of the hottest days of the summer!) We had no issues with water, but not sure we knew beforehand about the limitations (careful with usage, take 'Army' showers) Thanks to Mary for sharing her lovely lakehouse!

Fun vacation on Lake Ontario
Lots of shallow beach for little ones. Disappointed couldn’t see lake from house. Needed more towels since no laundry. Needed emergency lights since electric went out for several hours. Don’t know if this happens often. Went to Boltd castle and on thousand island tour. Found a really nice beach and miniature golf. Kitchen was well set up. Two refrigerators and grill available. Also beach tent and cart. Beds were comfortable. Steps to upstairs a little tricky for little ones or seniors. Lots of room for games and a nice tv with great movies. We had a great time.!!

Great family getaway
Our stay here was wonderful! Mary is hospitable, thoughtful, she called me to remind about the water level and guided me how to turn on the water pump. Completely forgot about it, so thank you Mary! Our family enjoyed the house, and are grateful for the memories we made. Just watch out for a neighbor to the left. This lady is crazy and got really antsy on the early morning when we were leaving. She started throwing up F-words left and right when our kids were still in a bed and yelling at us for using a small flashlight at 6am when we were packing. Other than that it was a great vacation we all really enjoyed!

Beautiful beach getaway
We had a wonderful long weekend getaway with our two small children and had a few friends come for the day to enjoy the beach. The house supplied everything we needed according to the listing and the hosts had helpful notes throughout the house. Having two living spaces, two kitchens, and plenty of seating for meals was great. The screened in porch was perfect for the evenings. We were mindful of water usage and while the water pressure wasn’t great, we did not have any problem with running out. The beach was exactly as it looks in the pictures and the walk there was a quick one through the backyard - even our 3 year old managed just fine. We loved the sand beach and enjoyed swimming out to the sandbar with the kids. Everyone we met on the beach from the neighboring houses was super friendly. This was our first vacation since before Covid and it was everything we’d hoped for. If anything, we wish we could have stayed longer and utilized more of what this property had to offer. Though we didn’t require much, the hosts were very responsive. We would definitely recommend this property. Julie & George

Spacious home and yard, unspoiled beach and abundant wildlife
We loved our stay at Montario Point. As with all Lake Ontario shore experiences, it is very ocean-like (minus the salt). This particular beach is very unspoiled: only a few homes visible in the distance and adjoins undeveloped state land (some of it protected bird nesting area) but you can walk for miles on this beach. We saw a bald eagle here, as well as the more common terns and ring-billed gulls. The water is shallow enough for all ages to enjoy. Kayaking opportunities abound, as the beach is adjacent to an inlet that leads to a beautiful, meandering pond. You can observe beaver, heron, belted kingfisher, killdeer and cedar waxwings among others. The house has a generous amount of space and flexible sleeping space, as well as a large screened porch that accommodates at least 10 for eating. In addition there is other seating at counter/table in the house proper. While this house does not sit directly on the sand, it is an enjoyable stroll through the back yard and some adjacent woods and then over a sand dune (when you approach the dune and get that 1st glimpse of the Lake it takes your breath away) and then you are at the beach! This is barely a five minute slow walk or just a couple minutes if you are quick, from house to beach. There is also a path to beach via road if you need a level walk. The back yard is deep and lovely with 2 fire pits and deck over-looking all. (Large picnic table with umbrella and 2 additional chairs on deck). Birdsong is heard all day, especially a very vocal eastern wood peewee that even sang well after dark! We formerly rented directly on Lake Ontario beach a few miles from this location and while we did miss the lake view from inside (if it’s wavy you can still hear the Lake) , the “back to nature” beach, kayaking and luxury of space inside more than made up for it. We hope to make this special place a new tradition!

water problems, great location
We were surprised by a lack of water--so much so that only 2-3 (we were a party of 10) people showered each day until mid-week when water was delivered. More upsetting was the condition of the water tank (mold and algae filled) which we were asked to keep filling with well water and to monitor so the pump didn't burn out. We were assured of a uv light and particulate filter so that the water was safe to drink. But after peering into the water tank and seeing the condition, we were running out for potable water daily. The beach and screened-in porch are really lovely, but water conditions unacceptable. I've rented many different VRBOs in lots of locations. This was not up to standards.

Good experience
Great location and amenities! Enjoyed the private community beach, corn hole, chess and kayaking. Plenty of space for our party of 8. We were there during a heatwave. The downstairs was easy to cool. Upstairs was harder to keep cool. Cooled off in the lake often. Owners attentive and kind. Overall good experience. We enjoyed our time at this house immensely.

Great fishing getaway
The house was very spacious with a large backyard and ample deck space. Great for fisherman being a short walk to a large beach on lake Ontario and a short drive to sandy creek and salmon river. The house was very comfortable and just a great place to relax after a long day on the river. I would definitely recommend this house and also would love to try a weekly rental in the summer to make use of the beach. The owner was very easy to communicate with and the discription on homeaway was spot on. Over all great place to stay!!!
