Awesome location with breathtaking view
My husband and I really enjoyed the stay here. We wanted a relaxing week away from the heat in Texas and an experience in spending time in the mountains. This home is located on the top of a mountain with breathtaking view. We felt like we were in a different world being so closed to the nature. The proximity to Asheville and national parks was a plus as we explored the surrounding area. We had a great time and will definitely return. Jack and Candace are very responsive and kind. They shared a great list of things to do in the area. They are great hosts.

Fantastic Stay
Absolutely incredible views. Pictures don’t do it justice. Cabin was clean, well furnished and our kids really enjoyed all of the board games and the downstairs game room was a hit. Drive in and out of town (Old Fort/Black Mountain) was around 20/30 minutes, but didn’t bother us at all given all of the beautiful scenery and wildlife along the way. Owners were great hosts and we highly recommend

Amazing Views
TLDR: The views are amazing, and we look forward to returning. The home was extremely clean and had additional amenities that are not often found in other rentals. Vertically, the drive up to the home is about 1,000’, so it is steep, but at no point overly treacherous. There is a generous parking area, so entering and exiting does not leave you wondering if you will be careening off a cliff, like many mountain homes so often do. The drive to Black Mountain, Asheville, and Mills River is not short, so you will want to plan your day accordingly.

One-of-a-kind Mountain Top View
We love this cabin so much that this was the third time we have been here with my husband and two boys. We are thrilled to be renting this cabin for the fourth time; this time for the month of July. The view from the deck is spectacular. We spent the entire time enjoying the view and watching the hummingbirds who flocked to our hummingbird feeder. Black mountain is a 30 minute drive away and Asheville is 45 minutes. Our favorite restaurants are Jerusalem Garden Cafe in Asheville and Blue Ridge Biscuit Company in Black Mountain.

Little Piece of Heaven on Earth
My family of 4 spent 8 nights at Mountain Laurel Lookout this May. It was everything the listing described and more. Beautiful cabin, amazing views, and a secluded setting. Just magical! A few things that I would want to know if I were looking at this property: 1. This cabin is in a private gated community, which we liked. It’s a drive back to “civilization.” But TOTALLY worth it. 2. There is only one neighbor in view of this cabin (right next door), but you can’t see it at all from the windows or the deck. No other cabins are close. Mountain Laurel feels super secluded and private. 3. Once you pass the gate, it’s a fairly steep climb to the cabin, with lots of twists and turns. When the owners suggest you arrive during daylight hours, do it! Their directions are great, but daylight will help you navigate the first time! 4. They suggest having a front-wheel or all-wheel drive. We did, however, make it just fine in our little Hyundai Elantra. We DID have to put it in 1st gear driving up the last little bit, where the road was about a 45 degree angle. But we managed just fine. We would NOT attempt it in that car during winter months! 4. The cabin is very well-stocked. We really appreciated having access to spices, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. Thank you!! 5. We spent A LOT of time on the deck reading, eating, and enjoying the breathtaking views. If you plan to rent this cabin, make sure you give yourself ample time to enjoy the beauty!!! 6. We LOVED the game room! ❤️

Breathtaking Views!!
We spent spring break with our two teen girls and two of their friends at this amazing home on the top of the mountain. Pros - Beautiful panoramic views - Grill, swing, and covered table on deck - Fireplace and available firewood - Game room for the kids - Great decor and very cozy clean home - Excellent drinking water from the tap - Close to excellent hiking, zip lining and other activities - Easy check-in process Cons - Kitchen cooking tools are cheap quality and could use updating - Far away from grocery store (30 minute drive) so need to plan well - Not much sound proofing between master bedroom and upstairs rooms - You’re required to remove your own trash during and at end of your stay, which is tricky if you have a full car with luggage and kids

Beautiful home!
This house exceeded our expectations! The pictures do not do it justice— the view is absolutely beautiful! The home is cozy, comfortable and fully equipped with anything you might need. I don’t usually feel completely at home in a vrbo, but I truly felt like we could relax and unwind while we were there. The drive up the mountain to the house is intense, but just adds to the beauty. It’s very doable and we didn’t have any problems, just a bit shocking for my Florida family who rarely drives up anything more inclined than a bridge or overpass! The drive into Asheville was easy- 35-40 minutes which allowed for day trips or even just heading there for dinner. If you want a lovely house where you can relax, feel at home, enjoy a beautiful NC mountain view, and not worry about needing anything other than the groceries you put in the fridge, this is the place to go!! Thank you for sharing your amazing home with the rest of us!!

Weekend getaway
Great cabin! The drive up was a bit nerve-wrecking but you couldn’t beat the view once you got up to the house! Not quite as updated as some other homes we’ve stayed in, but it was cozy and had everything we needed, it even included a high chair which was an unexpected plus! Would definitely stay again if in the area!

Awesome views
Cabin was as advertised. Easy access, very clean, and awesome views. You are at the very Top of Gateway Mountian with 360 views. The fireplace was used often with the temp outside in the 30's. We have traveled to the Blue ridge Mountains many times and this was by far the best rental cabin we have stayed at.

Excellent Mountain Views
I Loved the place. The sunrises were beautiful. We missed the sunsets because it was either cloudly or we didn't get back until later. We arrived at night, in the rain, and in the fog. Driving on the road from the gate to the cabin was a little adventurous for the first time not being able to see more than 5' in front of you because of the fog.

Paradise
This property and the owners are incredible. We made amazing memories with our 2 young children. I also can’t say enough about this beautiful property. And the cleanliness…. Unbelievable. We have stayed at many many places and this is by far the cleanest place we’ve ever been. It truly felt like we were at “home” and not just “someone else’s house.” The owners took special care and made sure every detail was perfect. The communication was wonderful. I can not wait to come back and stay here again. The view are UNBELIEVABLE. Absolutely breathtaking. A lot of reviews mention “white knuckling” it up to the house. I will say it is steep… but not scary at all. I was pretty nervous reading other reviews but we came and went several times a day over the course of 5 days and it was never an issue. And we’re from FL… so definitely not used to mountains and we were fine. Thank you again for an amazing visit. Can not recommend this property enough. It’s a slice of Heaven on Earth.

Why they chose this property

We chose this mountain location to build our cabin because of so many reasons! It has the amazing views, no highway noise, Verizon works, it doesn't get too much snow and it has easy access to I-40 to Asheville. We, together with our good friends the Morgan's, bought the top of our mountain ridge . We have over 27 acres between us with only our two homes.

What makes this property unique

Panoramic views!
