We have family in Surfside sonI am aware of the issues with the water. I saw a bad review in regards to the water but thought nothing of it since I know it’s a problem for everyone. However- the homeowners need to address their problem because it goes way beyond the issues others have. The water smell was HORRIBLE. It was a raw sewage smell that overwhelmed the entire small house and lingered for hours. . It was so bad we made arrangements to shower elsewhere as we did not want the smell in our hair. It was simply disgusting and like I said I’ve stayed numerous times in Surfside and never experienced anywhere that smelled anything like this house. You need to disclose it in the listing - it’s that bad.

Ignore the negative reviews! Excellent property and experience!

My wife and I booked “Ocean Blue” for a 2 night stay during Spring Break. We were worried because we read some of the negative reviews, but we were booking last minute and needed to get away. When we arrived we were very happy with the house. It’s so cute inside, with all of the comforts of home. The kitchen was sparkling clean and had everything we needed for our short stay. All of the furniture was newer and comfortable, from the really comfy sofa to the armchair that converted into a full bed. The TV had both cable and an Amazon FireStick. The house had wifi, counter to a previous review. The bedrooms were comfortable as well, with clean linens and blankets. Our 17 and 14 year old sons shared the bunk beds, while our 7 year old daughter and my wife and I shared the other bedroom. The bathroom was also immaculate. Downstairs in the garage there is a comfortable bar with a tv as well. There is also a washer and dryer in the garage. The only negative about the house was that the water was yellow, but several restaurants warned that the tap water couldn’t be served, so this seems to be an island wide issue. We just brought several gallons of drinking water. Regarding the location, it’s 4 houses away from the beach, so you can hear and see the ocean from the balcony. The location was so convenient that we walked back and forth from the beach whenever we needed anything from the house often. We’ve been to Galveston several times, but we loved how small and quaint Surfside Beach is. It was just so much more of a small beachfront town experience and we loved it. Our boys could have fished the jetty, but we instead just walked it as a family. We all went together to the Crabbing Pier and caught several blue crab, something none of us had ever done before. It was such a fun experience, though we didn’t catch any big enough to keep. Had we gone at night, we were told we would have caught a lot more. Several of the local restaurants were nice. Pretty similar menus with beach foo. The Seahorse Inn had a great view and good service. We had dinner at The Dorado and saw dolphins and the staff was incredibly friendly. Beachfront Deck Bar was a great atmosphere and we imagine it’s a great time at night, with its outdoor bar and live music. Our last night was at The Red Snapper, which was the best of the 4 restaurants, but all 4 were enjoyable experiences and good food. I would definitely rent this property again and loved the experience!

Cute House

This house was very cute and just enough room for a family of 4. The property has been upgraded recently and it is very comfortable! The owner was VERY responsive to my messages. A short walk to the beach and nice restaurant nearby. Make sure to bring toiletries. The bar area downstairs was very nice and would be great fun in the spring/fall when the weather is cooler. Loved the outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach. Would definitely stay at this property again. Thank you!

Dissapointing

My family of 5 were very excited to stay here for location and proximity to the beach, however, very quickly excitement turned into disappointment. I'm not sure whether I was more upset with the lack of the sleeper sofa that was advertised on pictures, or the lack of basic items, like soap, hot pads, coffee filters, trash bags (you get 1 trash bag and 1 roll of toilet paper). Thank you management company for offering a cot but we counted on that sofa. You are asked to wash dishes after your stay, but a dish sponge is not provided. There's a smart TV, but no WiFi or cable to be able to watch it. Description mentions dishwasher, there's not one. Pictures show seating furniture on the deck and kitchen bar, none available! Please update your description and mention what the guests should bring with them and please update pictures, as it is highly misleading to make someone believe you provide paper towels and kitchen bar seating. Last but not least, ice in the fridge was disgusting and yellow in color. We will not stay here again.

Ocean Blue-Surfside-disappointed

Location is really good, just a short walk to the wooden bridge to access the beach. Property wasn't fully cleaned, drains were VERY slow to empty and items were not stocked as listed on the vrbo site. No communication from property management upon arrival with need of usable drains. Wouldn't stay here again, we appreciate CLEAN, NEEDED ITEMS, AND HAVING BASIC ITEMS FULLY AVAILABLE.

Not worth it

When we arrived there was no electricity. Property management gave the excuse of a power outage but all other houses around had electricity. It was clear that the owner hadn't paid the bill. After about 30mins power was turned on without anyone showing up. The yard was overgrown and hadn't been mowed in weeks. The water in the house smelled of rotten eggs and very cloudy. Couldn't use it to even brush our teeth.

LOCATION! Adorable house, well equipped with towels, pillows, basic kitchen tools.

This is an adorable well-designed house that is ideally located within walking distance of the beach and local eating hot spots, and corner store. It feels larger than it is and the downstairs shower and deck are perfect for rinsing the sand off. We loved the decor as well!

Great vacation

We had a wonderful time, the property was very nice and comfortable, we had a problem with the door knob that gotten stuck but they came and fixed it very quickly. Will definitely love to stay again.
