Stunning Property

Our dream home. Checked off every box of what we want as a retirement home in Ajijic. Gorgeous view of the mountains and Lake Chapala, beautiful, well kept gardens, spacious home and the staff who maintained the home were very friendly. We hope there’s another gem like this waiting for us when we retire.

Two Weeks in Paradise!

Picture postcard beautiful! Lush landscaping, spacious outdoor space and so much more! Close to everything. I would recommend good walking shoes, as the terrain is a little hard in places. This was our second trip to Casa Mimi’s, and hopefully it won’t be our last!

walled villa rental

A wonderful place to stay with all the amenities as described. We can't wait to go back. The assistance we received when we had some water issues were dealt with and the staff were good to deal with too. We have raved to our friends about our stay here and the pictures don't do the place justice, good as they are. We look forward to returning. We highly recommend this vacation villa for anyone including those with disabilities. Easy access to all activities with the use of a van.

Delightful week in Paradise

My friend and I spent a wonderful week at this property while shopping for real estate in Ajijic. The location is central to everything the Lake Chapala area has to offer. The neighborhood is terrific with a number of restaurants within walking distance. This home is very comfortable, secure and private. Having the pool and WiFi and VoIP phone were all just added benefits. The property manager is local and very accessible and responsive to anything we needed. All in all a very nice experience.

Beautiful House

I loved this house. The amenities were absolutely wonderful. The rooms were tastefully decorated and the kitchen was well equipped. We had great times exploring Ajijic and Chapala during the day and eating in at night. We enjoyed sitting in the sun next to the pool. The terrace off of the living room was a great place to read and play cards. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. It was a pleasure working with the owner Mimi, and Becky the local agent was extremely helpful. We had a great trip and can't wait to go back. A fun side trip was to Scorpion Island outside of Chapala. Catch one of the little boats by the pier. We had a great lunch on the island.

The casa was better then we expected. This large beautifull house and lush grounds were beyond compare. A rare combination of a fantastic view and privacy allowed us one of our most enjoyable vacations. Located close to town but far enough away to provide connvience and peace and quiet. From the fresh flowers on arrival to the beautiful furnishing and art work Mimi has take the extra steps to insure her guests an exceptional experience. Mimi was helpfull in recommending car transfer services and pointing us in the right direction for car rental. It was a pleasure working with one so knowledgable.

Calm, relaxing oasis

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to any of our friends and family. Beautiful exceptionally well kept gardens are the first to greet you upon entering the property. The home is large and very comfortable and has all the amenities that you could want in a home away from home. As well there is lots of "wow" factor as you walk through the first time. The pictures you see on this page are a very accurate representation of the home. Veronica met us at the house and showed us around and gave us some good advice of restaurants and things to do. As well all the reviews of this property are also very accurate. Having breakfast on the terrace became our favorite way to start the day. Ajijic and surrounding area is great, nice relaxed pace to everything perfect for some down time. We enjoyed the local market place on Wednesday, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thanks Mimi for sharing your beautiful property with us.

Everything we expected and more!

This villa was amazing. My favorite part was starting the day with coffee of the balcony. The views were spectacular! The property was filled with lush plants and beautiful flowers everywhere we looked. Though December proved to be a little chilly for the pool we certainly didn't miss it. There was plenty to see and do and beautiful surroundings when we wanted to do nothing at all. :-).The home had everything we needed and was very comfortable. I would stay here again and again! The owner and the staff were also top notch. Mimi called to check and make sure everything was okay during our stay which we really appreciated. If you have not visited Ajijic, I would really recommend it. The climate is perfect and the surroundings delightful. The thermal spa in San Juan Cosala was my favorite thing to do. The cost is very reasonable and the grounds are beautiful. For $45 US I spent a half day using 6 different thermal pools, sauna and a full body deep tissue massage. Very relaxing.

About the host

Hosted by Mimi Johnson-Jacobs

Host profile image
I am a retired lawyer and my husband is a retired teacher. We live in the E. Bay Area of Northern California and get down to Mexico about twice a year.

Why they chose this property

My husband and I visited Ajijic for 4 days in the summer of 2005. Before we left, we bought this house! It was the most impulsive thing we had ever done, especially since we were not planning to move to Mexico. However, we love having a home in the magical little town of Ajijic. And now that we are sharing it with our guests, it makes sense to keep it.

What makes this property unique

For me it's all about the tranquility. We have the mountains in back of us, the lake down below, and tropical birds splashing in the fountain in front of the terraza. I'm a golfer so I play at Chula Vista just about every day when we're there. My husband is a computer guy so he spends most of his days online. But we eat out most nights -- so that is our together time. Also we're both readers so we bring a stack of books and magazines and catch up on our reading in Ajijic.
