Serenity Now!

This is an absolute beautiful retreat and the second time we have visited this property. Day and night, there is a feeling of ease and peace - all the while knowing you are mere minutes from town. No complaints, just compliments on this spacious 3bdrm home. Very responsive owner, also!

Work trip

We stayed here last year when we came to spay and neuter in Galax with our mobile clinic and enjoyed the hot tub after long days. Slept well in comfortable beds, and cooked in well stocked kitchen and ate around the big table.

Great vacation stay

Loved the lakehouse and deck. Such a beautiful outdoor space for relaxing! Also appreciated the kitchen having plenty of dishes, pots, pans, iron skillet, crock pot, blender, etc., because we love to cook and eat our meals together.

Very nice quiet location

When it says secluded that it is. Very nice & quiet to be able to watch the deer around the pond & listen to all the other wildlife. They only thing we thought was they could of brought in a little fill in some spots cause if you would go one side of the driveway in the dark you would of fell off to a deep hole

Great Getaway!

Our family wanted a getaway that was far enough away from everything but still close enough if we needed it. The house was exactly as advertised! It was super spacious and beautiful! The pond was fun to fish in while there was a fire going nearby! Lots of wildlife and relaxation! The thermostat was broken when we got there, so there was no heat, but communication with Alex was very consistent and it was fixed the very next morning! Same with the internet, a critter had chewed through the lines so there was no internet connection. We let Alex know and It was fixed the very next day! The property had everything we needed, including space heaters, and more and we will definitely be staying again! Loved it!

Nature at its best

The description of property is right on. Very quite, large pond and of course 5 deer two geese rabbits (and a partridge in a pear tree LOL). Hot tub was great. Played with dogs in large shade area. Has three brooks that ran into pond. Inside has all you need and then some. Will stay again.

Pros and cons

Pros: very clean, spacious and beautiful cabin. Linens, blankets and towels are well stocked. Great hot water and water pressure. Very peaceful, serene, remote and private. Received security deposit back not long after checkout. Cons: after the initial deposit, more detailed information is sent to you, stating that only a “starter supply “ of toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags are provided. No tissues were in the cabin. So be sure to take these items with you. The description states that two of the three bathrooms have a combo tub/shower. But actually, there is only one tub in the cabin. The other two are stand up showers. Also, you will find out that you have to transport your trash up to the beginning of the driveway and place it in trash cans there. This is not a short driveway. It is an unpaved, gravel road that has numerous dips and potholes; causing a very uneven and rough road. We had a new, small SUV and it was dragging branches and broken sticks all along the road. If you choose to come, we highly suggest a truck or four wheel drive. The hot tub came with no instructions on how to use it, so we had to google the owners manual. Then, it only worked part of the time. We only got to use it three times in a week. But it was very nice when it worked! In conclusion, if you can get past the cons, it is a gorgeous cabin with large rooms and beautiful views.

Awesome

It was a beautiful house and location. It was quiet and very relaxing. The owner provides all the accommodations you will need plus a lot of extras. We loved the fishing from her canoe and caught and released several fish every day. We will definitely return.

Outstanding!

This property has everything you could ask for, including spectacular views - all from the couch! The rooms are large, the furniture is nice, the kitchen is spacious and the bathrooms have plenty of space! The bedrooms are laid out perfectly, each with their own bathrooms! The pond is nice, as is the hot tub! This is one gorgeous home! The host was very responsive and informative!

Relaxing

The house was amazing as well as the location. It was so relaxing and serene. The only negative is the AC. It was in the 90's during our stay and the house stayed around 75 except for 1 early morning we were able to get it down to 71 by opening up all the doors and windows. Other than that it was wonderful.

Beautiful space

We met at this property for my mother’s Celebration of Life. It was lovely ❤️ the water and trails were soothing and a calm place to step away when needed. The bedroom situation is odd with all rooms other than the main suite being pass thru connections. We made it work and would have preferred doors on the bathroom as opposed to curtains 🤷‍♀️ The access road was difficult for some of our attendees but most made it. The kitchen set up was great for a gathering and well stocked with dishes and utensils. Thanks so much.

Beautiful location and house

Overall the location was beautiful and so was the house. The kitchen was a good size and the deck was very nice. The driveway was a bit treacherous and rough. The single floor was very helpful The house worked well for us with one exception. We were four couples and the one bathroom was between two of the bedrooms with no door, only a curtain which made it pretty awkward. We were also surprised there was no railing on the deck especially since there was a significant drop off. Because we were all adults it wasn't a problem but we could see some potentially serious issues if children were staying here.

Secluded Mountain Lakehouse, serenity in SW Virginia

Although in town for the Galax Fiddlers Convention, we were also looking forward to riding the New River State Park Trail and to time spent just chilling. This property was perfect! In fact it exceeded our expectations. Minutes from Felts Park, minutes from several access points to the New River Trail, minutes from the Blue Ridge Music Center, and providing peace and quiet unlike anything you can imagine. Lots of space -- an incredible amount of space! A large deck overlooking a small lake was perfect for morning coffee or evening wine time. The property was immaculately clean and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could hope for when preparing meals at home. Comfy beds -- just like at home. And the stars at night! When was the last time you saw the Milky Way? Not a single complaint, not a single 'Yeah, but.' It was perfect in every way and we look forward to staying here again when in the area.

Storm caused some problems

The home is beautiful and the setting is lovely. A storm went through the first full day we were there and we had no WiFi for the rest of our five day stay and the cell service (Verizon) is not good there. You can get service at the top of the driveway if you get out of the car so directions can load on the phone. The air conditioner never worked, which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. There were no batteries in any of the remotes. There was very little toilet paper. Luckily one bathroom had a roll, and we were able to divide it up among the other bathrooms and we got by until the next day when we were able to buy more. (I’ve never had to supply my own TP at a VRBO. Maybe this is something new. I wish I had known in advance.) The driveway was in poor shape when we arrived and worse shape after the storm went through and washed it out further. I’m sure Jeep enthusiasts would love it.
