Mold, Dirty Sheets, and Poor Communication
Oh where to start. This had the potential to be an excellent rental. The location was great, had a beautiful view, and the resort amenities were perfect for our family of 5 with middle and high school aged kids. BUT. The check-in process was unclear and delayed. The front desk didn’t have our information on file since the unit was managed by a separate owner. Once we were checked in, I immediate found black mold in the shower and in the washing machine. There were plumbing issues throughout the unit - Basically nothing drained. THEN, when we opened the pull out couch we found staining that looked like blood all over the sheets. We reached out by phone and text to management with no response for over 24 hours. When we finally received a response, we were told housecleaning would be sent up. They never came. We also had a maintenance need that wasn’t addressed. Aside from these big issues, the unit itself was just poorly stocked for a VRBO. We basically had to buy everything including toilet paper and beach towels, and there were no extra sheets or blankets. The kitchen only had 4 mismatched plates even though the unit is advertised as fitting a family of 8. I asked for some percentage of reimbursement given the health and safety hazards (which I photographed and sent to them),but management stopped responding to us as soon as we checked out. We’re typically pretty tolerant of small issues in rentals, especially if management is responding to us. Bottom line - don’t rent.here
