Lovely Shorefront Cabin with Dock, Beach & Great Views
Lovely cabin on beautiful shorefront property on Western side of MDI. This 5 acre property has gently sloping fields to a wonderful cobblestone beach with private deep water granite pier and dock. This rustic cabin consists of one great room with vaulted ceilings and a loft to accommodate additional sleeping. The cabin includes a bunk bed with the upper bunk single and lower bunk double and a sleeper couch and a loft with queen size mattress.
The beach is perfect for private lobster bakes, shelling and searching for sea glass or simply enjoying the incredible sunsets. The 150' pier with 24' floating dock will accommodate your boating activities along with a mooring suitable for a 50' vessel. The area is ideally suited for kayaking and sailing in the protected reaches of Blue Hill Bay.
The Southwestern exposure provides incredible views towards Swans Island and the outer reaches of Blue Hill Bay.
The villages of Bass Harbor and Bernard are approximately 1 mile away. There's great hiking along the shore or in the nearby National Park. An easy walk to the nearby bus stop provides free bus service throughout the island. The location is truly amazing and must be seen to be appreciated.

What a great place to relax. The property abuts the shore--maybe a 60-second stroll down a grassy, gentle slope where adirondacks and the dock await. Or just hang out on the patio to watch from there. Warm during the day, cooling off at night, lobster by the beach -- just the perfect summer getaway. Thanks for the great stay and easy communication, Ben.
Our second year staying here. A wonderful cabin with all the amenities. Having a washer/dryer in the cabin is wonderful - don't have to pack as many clothes.
Cabin is beautifully situated on the quiet side of the island. After a visit to bar harbor or after a day of hiking, it's always nice to escape back to the cabin for a peaceful evening overlooking the water. We are already making plans for our stay next year. Can't wait!
The property is well furnished. You'll find everything you need and you have grocery options within 15 min drive. Our highlight was really the rocky beach where you can have a firepit and the dock.
Perfect for kayak or paddle board along the coast!
The cabin was lovely. Everything was clean and described accurately. The beach is amazing and right down a grassy path. Mosquitos are rough but a thermocell worked to keep them away from us while hanging on the porch.
A Cottage on the Quiet Side: All we needed…and so much more!
This cottage provided the perfect combination of an ideal place to hang out, while also having easy access to all the things to explore on this side of Mt. Desert Island. Neither of us had been to the area before, so as we explored and became more familiar with island culture, we realized how fortunate we were to have landed on the quiet side…resulting in the very best kind of “happy accident”! The host provided a helpful guide to all the local places to check out, and it was easy to branch out from there. The cottage had everything we needed…including direct access to the pier and water…a lovely spot to watch the sunset each evening. We highly recommend, and are already looking forward to visiting again in the future.
We stayed here for our trip to Acadia National Park. Great location for exploring Acadia and the surrounding area! The cabin was quaint and had everything we needed. The view from the cabin and deck were amazing and the sunsets from the beach and pier were beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful week!!
We had an amazing time staying at this property. Great grassy lawn and amazing view of the ocean and sunset. Very close to a few hikes in Acadia national park. Main part of the park is about 40 min away. No central air or central heating as listed but there are space heaters that work very nicely. Restaurants are a little far away but the host will give you recommendations that are close and delicious! I would recommend staying here to a friend.
Perfect place to stay for my husband and me. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by deer in the yard, and later, as we walked down to the beach, there was a fox. The cabin had all the amenities we needed. Just a few miles from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, yet far enough to enjoy the quietness and listen to the wind and the ocean. Also, we were able to see the moon and stars. The beach is the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset, look for sea glass and many pretty rocks.
Ben is a great host. I couldn't find my directions and instructions; he was quick to email them to me again. "Thank You!"
Will definitely stay here again when we make it up that way again!!
After the crowds in Bar Harbor and Acadia, this was a very peaceful place to relax. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck, drinking wine and enjoying the view. The no frills cabin was cozy with a comfortable bed, and no tv (which I thought a bonus).
We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the solitude and proximity to echo beach . Hiked some shorter trails on same side of Acadia. Enjoyed carriage trails though I wouldn't recommend parking at north haddock pond and riding to eagle lake-. Too many hills. But was beautiful none the less. I would recommend using island explorer. We did on our last day and were disappointed we didn't use it more.
Was the perfect cabin for the three of us. Had everything we needed - washer/dryer, dishwasher, beautiful view of the cove on a private lot. Ben was great to deal with - very responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back!
Cabin was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Rustic but had all the things we needed (washer, dryer, dishwasher) to make for a very comfy stay. Mosquitos were fierce which made the deck tricky, but we watched several sunsets from the beautiful pier. Great location for tons of Acadia park activities. Quietside Snacks take-out was delicious. Ben was very quick and responsive with questions before our arrival.
Cabin has everything you would need: full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, 2 fans for warm days, 2 heaters for chilly nights. All dishes, pots, pans, towels, sheets etc. Plenty of electrical outlets, desk if you need to work, wi-fi. Big kitchen table, comfy couch, both facing the fabulous view.
Sleeps 5 (in 2 double beds and one single upper bunk). (You don't need TV because the view of the bay through the mostly-glass front wall is fantastic, and you don't need a/c because there are screen doors on three sides and two fans in case there isn't a breeze.)
My review is mostly positive:
The cabin was cozy, comfortable, and well-stocked. It was also nice and clean. The hosts were responsive and personable. I enjoyed the water view. The internet wifi was terrific and we had a decent Verizon Wireless cell phone signal.
Not so great: The seaside dock was high up from the water and blocked off halfway down, making it useless. Also, there was no floating dock to launch kayaks, etc.
If you want a campfire, you'll need to do it down at the shoreline. Bring a cart to lug things, as it's a decent walk down there.
If you hate mosquitoes or have any physical handicaps, this cabin is too rustic. The deck has a LOT of sun exposure, which heats up the cabin during the day. (There were lots of box fans, which I appreciated.) You'll need to bring your own patio umbrella for shade.
While it wasn't the right fit for my me and my husband, most people will love this cabin.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We liked the privacy, the view, and proximity to the beach.
Wifi also worked great for some last minute video conference calls.
The property is beautiful. Sitting on the deck or the beach each night, watching sunset, was a wonderful way to unwind every day after hiking. The wall of windows is perfect. We prefer the quiet side of the island, so the location was just what we wanted. It’s a small place with everything you need. The washer and dryer are very useful if you’re outdoors most of the time. Also – the place was immaculate when we arrived, and the owners were very attentive and great to work with.
This is a perfect place for a family vacation. It has everything you could possibly need without being over the top, making you feel like a local.
The property is great, provides for lots of privacy and has a huge lawn for kids to run around. The area is called the 'Quietside' for good reason. It has lesser known towns that are incredibly charming but is still close to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor so you get the best of both worlds.
The property is also close to Swan's Island which is what they don't tell you about when it comes to recommended itineraries in this area but is an absolute must.
The cabin can get cold overnight in late summer but has perfectly warm blankets.
We were surprised to find an extra sleeping alcove that was a highlight for the kids.

Nice Cabin
Communication with owner was pleasant and responsive. We had a few minor issues with WiFi password, once we got the correct password the WiFi signal very weak. Ended up using a hotspot from our phones. Property is not very close to water. Maybe 500 feet and grass/bushes obscure the view. In fact, it was somewhat foggy when we arrived and we had no idea how to walk to waterfront or way of knowing if we were on someone else’s property when heading toward ocean-there’s no path, map or clear way to beach. The waterfront is nice and shared with a house and another camp on the same property which we eventually figured out. Floating dock was not in place as pictured, which was disappointing because friends of ours were going to visit us via boat. Not the responsibility of the owner, but some of the worst mosquitos we’ve ever experienced-plan accordingly. Cabin is old and rough but near enough to the ocean. Side note, we found ourselves driving toward Acadia and Bar Harbor almost everyday. The is defiantly the quiet side of the island if that’s your thing.
The cabin was quiet, true to this side of the island with a beautiful view. The recommendations from the owners were a great addition to the week!

If you are looking for peace and quiet with a beautiful view then this is the place for you! There are a few other cabins around you, but you definitely get the feeling of privacy. We enjoyed being away from the crowds of Bar Harbor, but it was only a 20 minute drive away, and we enjoy many activities there. The pebble stone beach was a lovely place to watch the boats go by, but be warned that it is a bit of a walk to get down there. The cabin itself had everything we needed for a week in Mount Desert Island. The bed was comfy too! As long as you don't mind always sharing your space with your significant other, then I recommend booking this property!
One room getaway to unplug and unwind. To the downfall - the mosquitoes- which the renter really can’t do too much about other than bombing the yard. The views are amazing.
A rustic cabin on a spectacular site. This property captures the essential "rusticator" origins of Mount Desert Island - of a time before the tourists & socialites of the past 150 years. The site atop a rolling seaside field with beach and dock are incredible. Lots of privacy. All this with modern conveniences such as household appliances and wifi. Best of both worlds. The cabin was immaculately clean, and thoughtfully (though simply) appointed with everything we needed. It was at times unbearably hot in the cabin - on days it was 89 degrees outside, a wall of heat when opening the door to go into the cabin felt like an oven. But on days when the temps were in the low 70's with a seabreeze, the temp inside cabin was same as outside. A couple of patio umbrellas on the front deck and a few window screens could easily solve this. The mosquitos were brutal at dawn & dusk; but ok during the day and later in evening. A wonderful surprise was the amazing pier & float, and cobble beach. We had multiple large schools of fish swimming & jumping adjacent to the float. We saw deer frolic through the field at dusk each day. A chorus of song birds fill the surrounding trees. All in all, we would definitely recommend & stay here again.
