We are sorry, but your furry friends will have to stay home, or go on another vacation without you if you decide to stay w/ us. Both of us as owners, & our cleaning staff have severe allergies to pet dander & fur. Therefore we do not permit any animals in our home or on our property. Also, we do not have the staff to check the entire property for animal poop. We have a lot of wildlife up here on the mountain, & therefore it is very dangerous for any animal to be outside unattended. Even leashed, our wildlife can be rather bold (coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, bears, etc). Deer are plentiful, as are birds, & other smaller creatures. So not a good idea. Please leave them w/ family or friends. Thanks.

If Mt. Pleasant Garden View Main Ranch House, is already booked, not to worry. We also have our Cottage across the driveway for 2. Very popular. It’s a short 1.4 miles up a small hill to the south, but opens up to a spectacular 8 acre flat open pasture, private fairy forest & stream. It's a former horse ranch as well, & is made up of various charming cottages from repurposed ranch buildings from trees felled from that property over 60 years ago. Just go to our VRBO listing for "Bond Ranch Retreat" or online to our website to see & read more about it. It can sleep from 2-12 guests. You can hear more shared stories & adventures around our nightly bonfire there. My cousin Lisa manages Bond Ranch Retreat for us. Consider making a reservation there when the Mt. Pleasant Garden View Main Ranch House & Cottage are already booked.
Or if the beach is what you like, consider our spectacular Freshwater Bay Elwha River Mouth Beach property, the "Duck Pond", off of scenic Hwy 112, 10 minutes west of Port Angeles. A true gem, that can sleep from 2 -10. All properties are listed on VRBO.
So check them all out for options on where to stay when you are only 2-12 guests. Always great options !

Lovely!

We stayed here while visiting Olympic National Park. The house is beautiful with beautiful views. We would stay here again if we are ever in the area! It is very close to Port Angeles for dining out and grocery stores. The description of the house is spot on. However, be aware of the rules for this home. And the beds on the main floor are quite high in case you have someone in your party with mobility issues. The mattresses are also VERY soft.

Best views of Puget Sound

Beautiful home with stunning views of Puget Sound and Mt Baker. Lovely deck with lots of humming birds and other local wildlife. Great access to Port Angeles and Olympic NP. Owner is great and clued us in on the magnificent sunrises! My only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay.

Beautiful View!

The view was everything, from waking up to beautiful sunrises in the morning and watching the ferry go by with clear views as far out to Canada while enjoying a meal on the deck. The house is gorgeous and very clean with a well stocked kitchen. Beds were very comfortable if you like super soft beds - which we do! We also had a great time enjoying ping pong and the pool table. Quite a few deer visited the property and hummingbirds. All fun to watch from the deck.

Beautiful mountain home

This home in the hills above Port Angeles was the perfect getaway for our family. Spacious and well-appointed, quiet, and with wonderful views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca with Victoria, BC, and Mt. Baker in the distance, it made for a great retreat for our family. The home is located just minutes from the northern entrances to Olympic National Park and stores and restaurants are conveniently minutes away. This is the place to stay if you're going to Port Angeles/Olympic National Park!

Luxury & Views

This is a beautiful home with impressive views from the family room wall of windows. Location was great as well as we could get to downtown Port Angeles pretty quickly. The owner was quick to respond to our questions and definitely takes pride in their home. It is well appointed and very clean. We would recommend this home for any family. It can easily accommodate a larger group. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Family trip

We had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous property. It is even better than the pictures show. It has everything you’d ever need, and the views are spectacular. Our only regret we have is that we weren’t there enough. We left early and returned late. We hope we can visit again one day.

Wonderful Washington home

April’s home is located on a mountainside with commanding views of the waterway below, British Columbia in the distance, and Mt Baker. Our weather was perfect and the views were stunning. The home itself is beautifully decorated and has a great kitchen. This was our location as a home base to visit and explore Olympic National park - particularly the hurricane ridge area and Lake Crescent. The coastal areas are further away but certainly reachable as day trips. The overall experience was much better than the pictures can portray. This is a beautiful and well care for home - a VRBO that does not feel like a rental property - one of those that after a day or two you are surprised (very pleasantly so) that the owner is sharing it. We were thrilled to have stayed there - 5 stars all the way.

Fantastic Getaway

We stayed at Mt. Pleasant Main Garden View Main Ranch for 3 nights/4 days and had a perfect time and a quiet escape. All aspects of renting the property, communication with owner, check-in, etc. were flawless. The home was exceptionally clean also when we arrived. We love to cook together and the kitchen had everything for someone who loves to cook. Also the French press (2 of them) was a nice touch as a good bit of our leisurely mornings was spent drinking coffee on the deck, looking out over the beautiful meadow and water with Canada just across the way. The display of wildlife was wonderful -- so if you are a birder and enjoy a wide range of species (iincluding a bald eagle), you'll love the show. Lots of cozy spots to curl up with a book. Super comfy furniture, sunlight, all kinds of plants and landscaping to admire also. We didn't have a single problem or issue - everything worked (rarely the case in a rental property), the owner's instructions anticipated all our questions and needs and we all felt very warmly welcomed!

Gorgeous View!

This home is situated at a high elevation with huge windows that provide absolutely beautiful views of the wildlife, water, and even Canada across the way. Two of the bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of amenities to pamper those who stay there and the kitchen is well-supplied but the real showstopper is the main living/dining area and the wall of windows. Gorgeous views! The bedroom on the lower level is functional but not as comfortable as the other two and has a musty odor and a loud heating/cooling system. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and our host was extremely responsive and accommodating.

Great location to experience Olympic National Park

Peaceful with great views

We had a lovely stay at the ranch house. It worked well for three couples. There was enough space in extra rooms for three people to work while we were there. The house had everything you needed to prepare meals. Outside barbecue was a bonus. The bathrooms and linens were top notch. We were well situated to access the wilderness that we came to see. About the host

Hosted by April Gillette

Host profile image
April & Jim are both retired, but not from life or achievements that still await them. In 2014, both of them graduated together with honors from Hancock College: she in Viticulture and Enology; he in business & accounting to name just a couple of his 6 degrees. Also in that year, their larger family decided to sell their historic150 year old Family ranch & vineyards outside of Tracy, California on Delta Island. April spearheaded exchanges on 4 new similar properties. Now some would buy these properties close to where they live. Not April. She decided to purchase various properties up & down the Pacific Northwest Coast: Bond Ranch Retreat, Sequim, WA, 15 minutes east; Mt. Pleasant Garden Ranch Cottage & Main Ranch House; the Duck Pond at Freshwater Bay & Elwha River Mouth, Port Angeles, WA,15 minutes west; & Casi Cielo Tuscan Vineyard in Forest Grove, OR, just 30 due west of Portland, & what gems each of them are !

April, an award winning former Nationally Certified Interior Designer from Los Angeles, California; & Jim, a former social worker & fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity, from Seattle, Washington; both met while working on the1995 Habitat for Humanity Jimmy Carter Work Project in Watts California when April lived in Compton. They were inseparable after that & married in 2001, 2 days before 9/11.

While searching for exchange properties, April fell in love with the Olympic Peninsula & the Rain Shadow around Sequim. Although both have lived in large cities most of their lives, about10 years ago they decided to leave the hustle & bustle of city life & move to the country. They moved to the Santa Rita Hills, which is known for their Pinot Noirs, in the Santa Ynez Valley, just 45 minutes north of Santa Barbara, California. But now they intend to move permanently to the Olympic Peninsula in Washington where the Mt. Pleasant Garden View Ranch Cottage & Main Ranch House are now. Back to Jim's roots, a simpler life & ever changing seasons & down to earth neighbors.

Why they chose this property

Mt. Pleasant Garden View Ranch is a spectacular property and a gem in the Olympic Peninsula overlooking Saltwater views and Canada. The main house is just perfect for us. The cottage was an added bonus as it was a successful 5 Star VRBO vacation rental for 9 years with over 70 glowing reviews. Since April and Jim have been in the vacation rental business for the past 7 years, it was a natural to have one on their own property where they will eventually retire to. But for now, we enjoy it throughout the year, as we continue to travel and run our businesses in 3 states. The former owners were impeccable and detailed with the way they designed and built this amazing property. You will agree once you stay, and see what a gem it really is.

What makes this property unique

The Mt. Pleasant Garden View Ranch is close to everything. Yet it is high enough up in the hills to seem like you are hundreds of miles away from life, however it is only 3.5 miles up the mountain. With that said, it is the perfect place to get away to and escape the hustle and bustle of the crazy hectic city. The Main Ranch House is spacious, comfortable and elegantly appointed and has everything that you might need. Not to mention it has a dynamite panoramic view of the Strait of San Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island BC that will truly take your breath away. Yet it is still peaceful in a rural ranch setting and garden environment way up above it all. What more could you ask for in a vacation location?
