About this property
Waterfront House and Artist's Studio in the Woods
Perched on a bedrock ledge overlooking the Housatonic River, our house is a perfect summer getaway. The main house has one bedroom with high ceilings and an en-suite bathroom, another half bath, a dining room, screen porch with a swing, and a kitchen with a brand-new Bosch dishwasher (who wants to scrub dishes on vacation?). The artist's studio has a library, couches and a projector hooked up to Roku, and two bedrooms downstairs. The two houses are joined by a large deck, where there's a grill and ample outdoor seating. The whole place has a tree-house vibe to it.
We are right on the Housatonic River (the house comes with a canoe). There are two waterfalls on the property, though in August they are usually just a trickle unless there's been a recent rainstorm. There's a fire pit near one of the falls. The surrounding woods are quiet: one of our neighbors in the federal government, which owns the land surrounding the Appalachian Trail (which runs on the ridge high above the house), another is the Kent School, which has set aside hundreds of acres free from development, and, to the south, the Schaghticoke Indian Reservation.
The town of Kent is three miles away: far enough to remain invisible while still remaining convenient for grocery shopping or dining out. It's a nice town. We are going to be away this August, so we are listing the house for rental for the first time.

We are a family of four who live in Brooklyn but visit this riverfront getaway in the woods whenever we can. We are going to be away this August, so we are listing the house for rental for the first time.
